The Quotable Caine:
To Ron - "Don't worry you won't be around to see Father's Day"

Episode Recap:

WHEN SOMEONE IS DETERMINED TO TAKE DOWN THE TEAM, HORATIO PUTS HIS LIFE ON THE LINE, ON THE SIXTH SEASON FINALE
I like it when people from movies DC has been in show up on "Miami". Tonight we see David Keith from "Officer and a Gentleman." There's one excellent scene where he and Caruso are eyeball to eyeball.

Story opens with Manny Ortega falling to his death from high-rise building. Frank suspects suicide at first but noticing a broken window in the high-rise, Eric and Horatio think it a bit excessive for a suicide to jump through a window. Shannon Higgins, the new ME shows up and as she examines the body, she sees a breath. Thinking Ortega is still alive, she calls for an ambulance. Shots ring out, one of them hits her and she dies. Horatio leans down to listen for a heartbeat, rises bloodied (good for a promo shot, eh?) and says "She's gone."

Eric works scene with camera when Thomas Wellner appears. He, too, was supposed to step in for the absent Alexx. Frank thinks the gunshot was meant for Manny to make sure he was dead. The ME was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

When Eric visits morgue, Juan Ortega, Manny's older brother shows up to ID the body and collect belongings. He tells Eric a sad story about Manny's deprived life -- he had it rough growing up.

Nat and Ryan work the scene where Manny jumped. The room is empty --- heck, the whole building is empty! Nat finds blood and back at the lab that leads them to Federal Agent Evan Caldwell. Horatio interrogates him saying "Who are you really?" as he appears to have a criminal past. Caldwell tells him it's a fake past designed to get him close to Ortega. "Someone beat me to it," he says. "Beat it," replies Horatio. "Toodle-ooo," Caldwell replies, smiling.

Eric tries to reach out to Weller, the new ME, who seems slow in cooperating.

Eric and Calleigh work scene together. She tells him she has done his proficiencies for him (whatever that means). They follow the trajectories placed in bodyform back to the shooting site and find both casings and unspent rounds of ammo. They also find a chip from a gun which could have caused the shooter an injury. This does lead them to Ron Saris.

Ron enjoys calling Horatio "Red". H notices scratches on Ron's neck and determines he is a suspect.

Back in the lab, Natalia sees Eric working on casings and asks him if he is alright. Bullets were flying and she was worried that he might not be over the shooting where he was wounded. Eric persists and finds fingerprints on casings leading to Brad Gower. Seems this guy runs a Munition factory and because he spot-checks the product, his prints will be on many of the casings. He appears co-operative and says he'll see if he can find who purchased that lot. (I am not fooled here as my theory "New Character + 10:20 = Guilty" has kicked in.)

Now for the second best scene in the episode: Calleigh works on the ammo in lab and Frank calls, interrupting her. While talking, a bullet rolls off the table, strikes the floor and explodes, starting a fire. Next we see a very dejected Calleigh, sitting amid the charred remains of her lab. As Eric tries to soothe her, she is more worried about the evidence being compromised. Eric suggests they look for another bullet. When he finds it, she gives him a heart-melting smile and says "You are my hero." They are successful this time, finding black powder inside bullet. This means it is a very old bullet and the powder can make it unstable. They find it was made in 1969 and is from one of the Soviet Block countries. This ammo has been outlawed and should have been destroyed. It seems Brad has been buying the stuff anyway, he's re-tooling it and selling it as new. H holds the gun on him while others search the plant. Brad sees the federal agent there and tells them he thinks he is being tricked. He admits he encouraged Manny to jump but didn't think he really would. (He also told Manny he'd shoot him if he didn't.) He didn't mean to shoot the ME when he shot out the window after she called for the ambulance. Horatio tells the officers to take him straight to booking, but he never makes it. Someone shoots him from a car. H empties his gun into the car as it speeds away. "This is getting to be a very nasty habit," he says.

Interesting to see crimescene tape spread outside the lab. As Frank mutters that he is thinking about upping his life insurance, Calleigh explains that a special bullet was needed to kill Brad, who was wearing a protective vest. These bullets can kill through body armour, she explains. She tells Agent Caldwell that Brad confessed, but he now is more interested in the amunition as no one wants such high powered stuff unaccounted for in the US. He gives Calleigh a list of potential buyers that he got from Manny before he died. Calleigh takes list to Horatio (Yes -- another C/H scene) and she shows him that Ron Saris is on the list.

Ron claims he's being harrassed, but he has an ironclad alibi: seems he and Julia were getting married. Horatio confronts Julia outside Kyle's school and congratulates her rather sarcastically. He also tells her that Ron is after her money and only Kyle now stands in his way to getting his hands on it. She believes him and promises to meet him at the airport at 5:00pm where a plane will be waiting to take them out of the country. Kyle exits the school and Horatio tries to tell him he is doing this for his own good, but Kyle says that's what they all say and is not happy as he has been down this road too many times before.

Calleigh and Ryan find the car that Horatio shot up. Although the car has been wiped down, the navigation system reveals that it belongs to Colin Madison who worked for Brad. Ryan asks to be excused as he has something he must do. Colin Madison says someone held a gun to his head and forced him to shoot Brad. He knows who was behind the gun and takes them to a warehouse where Juan Ortega is about to make a deal for those special bullets. He says his brother's death warranted the "revenge" shooting. He also warns Horatio that a lot of people will be angry with him over the loss of the sale, but Horatio just laughs. Ortega makes a phone call.

Julia leaves Kyle alone as they wait for 5 o'clock to roll around. Ron is seen examining his purchase of special bullets; Kyle is seen loading a gun.

Horatio is at the airport waiting by a plane. He examines his cell-phone (or text messager) and seems uneasy. He takes off his glasses, we hear a shot. Horatio falls. He appears conscious but can only move his fingers. Scene moves to Ryan who is getting a text message himself: "It's done," the text reads as Ryan reveals a dark face full of malevolence. Back at the airport we see Horatio lying on the tarmack, eyes open, mouth agape, and fingers still. Camera pans back through the hole in those SOJ's we've been seeing all season.

Why would Ryan want to kill Horatio? To be the Lieutant?Well who knows, Ron couldn't of tried to kill Horatio because he is seen examining the bullets he bought, but I do think that Julia could of shot Horatio because I think I saw her walking out with a gun in her right hand. I also think that Kile counldn't of tried to kill Horatio because Horatio is his DAD! Even though he was seen loading a gun does not make him a suspect in this case. (I think)
