Rio de Janeiro:

Julio Riaz: Han pasado casi cinco años desde que la policía mató a Antonio gringo! Quiero venganza! (It’s been almost five YEARS since that gringo cop killed Antonio! I want revenge!)
Santiago Martinez: ¿Cómo vas a hacer eso, Julio? Nuestro mejor tirador se encuentra todavía en una prisión gringa en la Florida. Ninguno de nosotros puede hacer lo que Memmo era capaz de hacer! (How are you going to do that, Julio? Our best shooter is still in some gringo prison in Florida. None of us can do what Memmo was able to do!)
Julio: Entonces vamos a empezar por sacarlo, entonces tenemos a los gringos que mató a mi hermano! (Then we start by getting him out- then we get the gringos that killed my brother!)

Two weeks later, at Metro West Detention Center in Doral, FL: Anita Sanchez passed through prison security without a problem. No one looking at her would suspect this small, innocent-looking young woman of being a criminal. Getting back out, with Memmo in tow, would probably be a different matter. Then the fun would start.
It's been two months since Eric left the lab and started working for the state's attorney's office. The transition has worked well- for Eric, and for the relationship between him and Calleigh.
As he waits for Calleigh to finish her shift, Eric replays the day that he decided to leave CSI.
Eric: (in Calleigh's living room, dropping his bag on the floor) Hey.
Calleigh: (peeking through the door from the kitchen) I just got in. Dinner'll be ready in fifteen minutes. Did you finish up everything you needed done?
Eric: Umm...yeah. (walking into the kitchen) Hey...could we talk? There's something I gotta tell you.
Calleigh: (looking over her shoulder from the stove) Sure.
Eric: (coming over to lead her to the table) I'm leavin' CSI. (in response to Calleigh's look of shock) I had to choose. If I stay, I have to give up on us. That's not an option.
Calleigh: But Eric-
Eric: (taking her hands again) We both know that we're on borrowed time if I stay. Stetler will find out and push policy. I'm tired of hiding my feelings for you, and I am NOT letting Stetler or some policy come between us.
Calleigh: What about changing shifts? I mean-
Eric: Then we'd hardly see each other. This way, we work the same shift and on the same side. (seeing Calleigh's doubt) I can't imagine my life without you. (stroking her cheek)
Calleigh: Are you sure?
Eric: I've never been more sure of anything.

Calleigh's arrival at the car shakes Eric out of his musings.

Calleigh: Hey. (throwing her bag in the back seat)
Eric: (smiling) Hey. How was work?
Calleigh: (getting in the car and leaning over to kiss him) Same old. You?
Eric: (starting the car) Talbot and Nevins are enjoying the privilege of ordering me around- but otherwise it's been a good day. (lookin over at Calleigh) Better now.
Calleigh: What were you thinkin' about? You had that far-off look in your eyes.
Eric: Just remembering the day I left CSI- and how right that decision was. (seeing the quiet contemplation on Calleigh's face) I never doubt that I made the right choice, babe. (taking her hand) You're more important to me- what we have together is more important to me.
Calleigh: (smiling) I'm glad to hear that. I still miss having you in the lab though. Everyone does.
Eric: (grinning) It's nice to be missed.

As Eric and Calleigh drive away from the lab, another car pulls into traffic a few lengths behind them.
Carlos Hernando: (on Bluetooth) Que acaba de salir del laboratorio de criminalística. (They just left the crime lab.)
Julio: (split screen) ¿Está siguiendo ellos? (Are you following them?)
Carlos: Sí. (Yes.)
Julio: Permanecer en ellos. Quiero saber todos sus movimientos. Entender? (Stay on them. I want to know their every move. Understand?)
Carlos: Sí, sí. (Yes, yes.) (Julio hangs up; calling Santiago) ¿Qué está haciendo el gringo, Santiago? (What's the gringo doing, Santiago?)
Santiago: Todavía está en el interior. (He's still inside.) (checking his watch) Él ha estado aquí desde las 8 am. ¿Este tipo vive aquí?! (He's been here since 8am. Does this guy live here?!)
Carlos: Suenas como Julio, Santiago. Sea paciente. (You sound like Julio, Santiago. Be patient.) (hangs up)
Back at Metro West:

Guard: (to Memmo as he escorts him to the interview room) Don't even think about tryin' something.
Memmo: Now why would I do tht?
Guard: You don't get many visitors, Memmo. I suggest you enjoy this one- while you can.
Memmo: (seeing Anita and grinning maniacally) Oh, I will.
Anita Sanchez: (Guard leaves) Hola Memmo. ¿Cómo estás? (Hello Memmo. How are you?)
Memmo: Buena. (Good.) (sitting opposite Anita) ¿Cómo están todos? (How is everyone?)
Anita: Te echamos de menos. No podemos esperar hasta que vuelva a casa. (We miss you. We can't wait until you come home.) (slips a piece of paper across the table) A note- from the 'boys'. Note: Manténgase cerca de Anita. Tenemos un trabajo para usted. (Stay close to Anita. We have a job for you.)
Memmo: ¿En serio? ¿Por qué ahora? (Really? Why now?)
Anita: Debido a que Julio finalmente salió con la suya. (Because Julio finally got his way.)

At that moment, an alarm sounds and the interview room door opens. In a second, Anita has the guard on the ground, dead. After finding the key, Anita uncuffs and unshackles Memmo, then leads him down to the kitchens. On the loading dock, they are met by Anita’s brother, Fernando, and Julio. Soon they are on their way toward Miami.
At dawn the next morning, Horatio gets called to the chief’s office.

Horatio: (walking into Chief’s office) You wanted to see me sir?
Chief: Have a seat, Horatio. (Horatio sits) I got a call from Metro West twenty minutes ago.
Horatio: (completely aware of the situation’s magnitude) What happened?
Chief: There was a jail break. Someone started fires and set off smoke bombs in the visitor areas, killed both gate guards and two more inside.
Horatio: And Memmo is the only prisoner missing.
Chief: (regretfully) Yes. (as Horatio stands) I’m not telling you to let someone else handle this, Horatio. The night shift-
Horatio: I want my team on it, sir.
Chief: Fine. But I don’t want you trying to handle it alone. (Horatio nods and walks out; on the intercom) Debra, get Talbot at the state’s attorney’s office on the phone.
Debra: Yes, sir.
Chief: (leaning back in his chair) Damn it all to hell!

Calleigh runs into Natalia and Ryan as they all arrive at the lab hours before shift.

Calleigh: Did we all get this? (reading the callout message again) Walter: (joining them; turning on the TV in the break room) Yeah.
Reporter: Officials from Metro West Detention Center report that, in addition to the deaths of four guards, fires caused extensive damage to the visitor areas as well as supplies and vehicles. So far, only one prisoner, Memmo Fierro, is unaccounted for.
Natalia: Did she just say-
Calleigh: (shocked) Memmo. (pulls out phone and hits Eric’s speed dial; gets voicemail) Hey, it’s me. Call me as soon as you get this. (hangs up) Natalia: Where is Eric?
Calleigh: (watching the screen) Talbot called him in.
Ryan: We’re all working this?
Horatio: (coming in as Ryan speaks) There’s only one reason for someone to do this- someone has a job for Memmo.

At that same moment, Eric walks into Talbot’s office.

Eric: You wanted to see me?
Talbot: I just got a call from the chief. You’re being temporarily assigned to the lab.
Eric: (suspiciously) What’s goin’ on?
Talbot: Haven’t you seen the news? (Eric shakes his head) Memmo Fierro was broken out of Metro West late last night.
Eric: What?!
Talbot: We don’t have all the details yet. The chief wants you working with Horatio on this.
Eric: (seething) You couldn’t stop me if you tried.
Talbot: I wouldn’t try to stop you. I know what that maniac did to your sister. Be careful. (Eric walks out; intercom buzzes) Yes?
Receptionist: The chief is on line one, sir.
Talbot: Thank you. (picking up the phone) He’s on his way to the lab as we speak.

Meanwhile, near Miami International Airport, Memmo is being briefed on what is expected of him.

Julio: How did you get to these gringos the last time?
Memmo: Their weak spots- the women...or woman they loved.
Julio: What do you need?
Memmo: Car, surveillance equipment, guns…
Julio: Done.
Anita: (thinking aloud) Julio, wouldn’t it be more fun to kidnap their women and make the men surrender themselves?
Fernando: (uneasily) Anita, be quiet!
Julio: Actually…(grinning evilly) That sounds much more interesting.

Back at the lab, everyone is being briefed on the case. Calleigh’s phone rings and, after a brief look at Horatio, she steps outside to answer it.

Calleigh: Hey. You got my message.
Eric: Where are you?
Calleigh: At the lab. Eric, there’s something I need to tell you.
Eric: I already know. Memmo’s on the loose.
Calleigh: When did you hear?
Eric: About ten minutes ago. I’ve been temporarily assigned to the lab. I’m on my way over now.
Calleigh: Okay. See you when you get here.
Horatio: (joining Calleigh outside) Eric?
Calleigh: Yeah. Talbot’s assigning him to the lab for the duration. He’s on his way.
Horatio: Okay.
Calleigh: We’ll meet you in AV when he gets here. (Horatio nods and heads down the hall)
Outside, Eric is getting out of his car when another familiar person drives up and parks next to him.
Yelina: Eric. (studying his face) Something tells me that you and I are here for the same reason.
Eric: Memmo. (Yelina nods) Let’s get inside.
Once inside, Eric and Yelina are met at the elevators by Calleigh.
Yelina: Hello, Calleigh. Horatio-?
Calleigh: He’s down in Av with Dave and Walter.
Yelina: (looking between Calleigh and Eric) I’ll head down. I need to have a word with him. (walks away) Calleigh: (studying Eric) Come with me. (heads to Firearms with Eric following)

In AV, Dave and Walter are going over security cam footage from Metro West when Horatio joins them.

Horatio: Gentlemen, is there anything?
Walter: Nothing yet. I’m only on the second hour of footage from the cell area. We’ve got Memmo being escorted by one of the dead guards, but nothing else on this cam. (continuing with the controls) Dave: I’ve got footage of the interview areas. I haven’t caught sight of Memmo yet, but a woman was escorted into Interview One ten minutes before Memmo was escorted from his cell block.
Ryan: (walking in with Natalia) We just got the log books from night shift. What time frame are we looking at?
Walter: Late visiting hours are from four to nine. I’d guess that they’d go for the later part of that time frame- maybe between seven and eight.
Horatio: All right. (turns to see Yelina standing outside) Keep me posted. (out in the hall) Yelina.
Yelina: Horatio…What does this have to do with me and Ray Jr.?
Horatio: Memmo knows that Ray was involved with the Noche in Rio. Which means-
Yelina: That he knows about me and Ray.
Horatio: And he won’t hesitate to come after both of you to get to me.

In Firearms, Calleigh leads Eric to the firing range.

Calleigh: (turning to face him) Are you okay?
Eric: (quietly) It brought back all the memories- Mari dying, going to Rio with H, getting Riaz, getting shot. It made me realize how angry I still am that that pathetic excuse of a human being is still breathing, and Mari’s gone.
Calleigh: (taking his hands) We’ll catch him again. He’s not gonna get away. (studying Eric) C’mon. Horatio’s waitin’ for us in AV.

Back in AV, Walter and Dave have made some headway on the cam footage. Ryan is going over the logbooks.

Ryan: Hey. When do you have that woman being escorted to Interview?
Walter: 7:20 pm. Why?
Ryan: According to the logs, there was only one visitor signed in around that time- Anita Sanchez. Did the camera get her face?
Dave: (pulling up the footage) We’ve got a partial here…(adjusting the footage, then pointing) and a partial here. (putting the images side by side) It’s almost like she knew where the cameras were.
Natalia: (running Anita through the database; getting a hit) I think she did know.
Walter: What do you mean?
Natalia: (shifting the file to the wall screen) She’s Noche.

At the Noche hideout near Miami International:

Fernando: Nita, you know how violent this could get if Julio-
Anita: (smiling evilly) But it’ll be so much FUN! (seriously) You know how I felt about Tonio, Nando.
Fernando: But Nita-
Anita: Because of those gringos, I never got to tell him! I want this as much as Julio does!
Julio: Want what, Anita? (Memmo comes in) Anita: (facing him) I want the gringos to suffer- suffer the way we have since they took Tonio from us!
Memmo: And they will suffer- immensely.

Eric and Calleigh meet Horatio and Yelina at the elevators as they head to AV.

Eric: (to Yelina) Leaving so soon?
Yelina: Yes. (smiling) I have a few things to do before I head to my mother’s. (getting into the elevator) Calleigh: (as the doors close) You put a security detail on alert.
Horatio: (nodding; to Eric) What have you heard?
Eric: Talbot didn’t pull any punches. Night shift must not be happy that you yanked the case out from under them.
Horatio: They’re not. The chief authorized it-
Eric: So no complaints.
Calleigh: Has anything come from the prison security footage?
Horatio: Nothing…(phone beeps; checking it) until now.

As Horatio, Eric and Calleigh walk into AV, Yelina makes a phone call.

Yelina: (as ringing continues) C’mon Ray. Pick up.
Ray Jr.: (on recording) Hey, this is Ray. Can’t answer the phone right now, so leave a message. BEEP.
Yelina: Ray, it’s Mom. Call me as soon as you get this. (checking mirrors and spotting the squad car behind her; smiling) Horatio- always protecting…

Yelina’s car is suddenly slammed from the passenger side by a cargo van and spins out of control.

Patrol: (on radio) This is Unit 376 requesting back up and emergency services. Two car collision on NW 87th Avenue. Yelina Salas-

Suddenly, another cargo van pulls up next to Yelina’s car and the side door opens. Santiago jumps out and pulls an unconscious, but mostly unscathed Yelina out of the car.

Fernando: (in the driver’s seat of the van) Hurry up Santiago! Grab her and LET’S GO! (to Carlos, who climbs in from the other van) You okay?
Carlos: (nodding) Let’s get the hell outta here!
Santiago: (getting Yelina in the van and jumping in after her) Go, go, GO! (Fernando floors it)
Patrol: (on radio) Put out a BOLO on a white cargo van. Tag number Mike-Six-Six-Charlie-Hotel-Echo. Alert Lieutenant Caine as well- Yelina Salas was targeted and abducted. (throwing down the CB mike) Dammit!

In AV, Dave and Walter show Horatio, Eric and Calleigh what they’ve found.

Dave: She dodged the camera from the minute she entered the building. And there’s no photo in the database- just her name in connection to La Mala Noche.
Eric: Have you been able to get any additional footage from the prison?
Walter: We’re workin’ on it. Wolfe and BV went down to check out the scene again, just in case.
Horatio: So we know that the Noche broke Memmo out.
Eric: Which means they’ve got a hit on someone in Miami.
Calleigh: The question is: Who?
Horatio: More importantly, who’s leading them?

At the Noche hideout, Fernando, Carlos and Santiago pull in with Yelina.
Anita: Julio, Memmo- they’re back!
Julio: Memmo…you were right. He tried to protect her. (to Carlos) Where’s the boy?
Carlos: (clutching his side) He wasn’t with her.
Anita: Now we get Blondie…(holding a picture of Calleigh with Eric) And bring them to their knees!
Julio: (to Carlos) What happened to you?
Carlos: I ran her into the median. (holding his side) I think I busted a rib.
Santiago: We’ll go tape him up, Julio. (helping Fernando move Carlos) Julio: So how do we get Blondie?
Memmo: I’ll think of something. She can’t be watched all the time.
Julio: Fine. Anita, make our “guest” comfortable. But don’t hurt her- yet. I have plans for this one.

Back at the lab, Horatio has just gotten the alert and the BOLO.

Horatio: Walter, pull up the traffic cam feed for NW 87th please.
Walter: (turning to the auxiliary AV system) Sure.
Eric: What’s up, H?
Horatio: They got Yelina. (Walter pulls up the footage of the “accident”) Calleigh: What?! She only left twenty minutes ago!
Eric: Where was her security detail?
Horatio: (watching the two cargo vans) They got blocked between the median and the crashed van.
Eric: (watching the footage) They didn’t get lucky. They knew where she was, H.
Horatio: We’re being watched.
Eric: Walt, can you tag the getaway van? (Walter nods) See if we can follow it.
Dave: It shouldn’t be difficult-
Walter: (losing the van on the footage) Unless they go through blind areas!
Calleigh: (running DMV records) The van is registered to a…Carmelita Hernandez- reported stolen two days ago.
Horatio: Let’s find out where it was stolen, shall we? (walks out; Ryan walks in) Ryan: We’ve got all of the prison’s exterior footage- service and visitor entrances.
Calleigh: (speculatively) Maybe they got sloppy. Maybe-
Walter: (catching on) They used the van both times. (working controls; loading new footage) Ryan: (confused) Both times? What are you talkin’ about?
Calleigh: The Noche got Yelina fifteen minutes ago on NW 87th.
Ryan: That’s where Natalia was headed.
Walter: (manipulating controls) This could take a while.

At the Noche hideout, Yelina is starting to wake up.

Anita: So you finally decide to wake up, huh?
Yelina: (tries to move; realizes she’s tied up) Who are you? What-
Anita: Wouldn’t you like to know! Now shut up! (going to the door) Nando, where’s Julio?
Fernando: Outside, checking supplies.
Anita: She’s awake. He said-
Fernando: I’ll get him. (goes outside)
Yelina: You’re the ones that broke Memmo out of prison, arent’ you? You’re Mala Noche.
Julio: (walking in with Memmo) You really are well known around here, Memmo. (to Yelina) And you…(turning her head toward him) You are going to help us get the men responsible for murdering my brother! (letting her go; turning to Anita) Until then, Nita will keep you company. (Anita nods; walking out with Memmo) How long before they start looking for her?
Memmo: They’re already looking- I’m sure of it.
Julio: So what do we do now?
Memmo: We need to distract them- break the ranks.
Julio: And then we grab Blondie…(with an evil gleam in his eyes) and revenge for Tonio!
Memmo: I have a plan…(contemplatively) Who else do we have in Miami, Julio?
Julio: Well…

In the MDPD parking lot, Horatio tries calling Ray Jr. again.

Horatio: (on the phone, to voicemail) Ray, it’s Uncle Horatio. I need you to call me as soon as you get this. (hangs up) Eric: (walking up) Still no answer from Ray?
Horatio: No. It’s not unusual-

At that moment, a motorcycle pulls into the lot and parks in front of Horatio.

Ray Jr.: (getting off the bike and removing his helmet) Uncle Horatio, something’s wrong. I can’t reach Mom.
Horatio: I’ve been trying to call you, Ray.
Ray Jr.: (studying Horatio’s face) Someone took her.
Horatio: (nodding) I think I know who…and why.
Ray Jr.: Does this have to do with my dad?
Horatio: (surprised) Why do you think that?
Ray Jr.: (bitterly) Because everything that puts us in danger has to do with Dad.
Horatio: Actually, Ray…this time it’s on me.
Eric: Ray, when did you last hear from your mom?
Ray Jr.: She left me a voicemail earlier today. She wanted me to call her back.
Eric: H, that must’ve been after she left this morning.
Ray Jr.: (to Horatio) Mom came to see you? Why?
Horatio: I asked her to. I was-
Ray Jr.: Trying to protect us. You’re gonna find her, right?
Horatio: I’m going to do my best, Ray.
Eric: H, maybe we should keep Ray here, at least until we find Yelina.
Horatio: I agree. (Ray Jr. starts to protest) I need everyone out looking for you mom, Ray. (Ray Jr. nods, resigned, and walks inside with Horatio and Eric)

In the lab, Walter continues working on the traffic cam footage, hoping to track Yelina’s abductors, while Dave continues working the prison footage. Natalia has just returned from the “accident” scene with evidence that may lead to the Noche hideout. Calleigh joins Natalia in Trace just as Horatio, Eric and Ray Jr. step out of the elevator.

Natalia: (looking toward the elevator) Looks like they found Ray Jr.
Calleigh: (starting on a soil sample from the tires of the van) Let’s hope this leads us to Yelina. (looking at Natalia) I feel like we’re waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Natalia: You too, huh? I find myself wishing they’d make a move already.
Calleigh: How bad was the damage to Yelina’s car?
Natalia: (looking over pictures) The passenger side was caved in, but the driver’s side only had the scratches from scraping the median.
Calleigh: Then Yelina is most likely uninjured- maybe knocked unconscious. (thoughtfully) The Noche wanted her alive and unharmed. So…what are they planning?Natalia: I wish we knew. (Calleigh’s test results pop up; walking around the table to stand next to Calleigh) What’d you get?
Calleigh: (studying the results) Calcium carbonate, calcium hydroxide, magnesium…
Natalia: Limestone.
Calleigh: Not just only limestone…(running a similar results and cases search) Processed limestone with magnesium added to reduce the acidity of sulfur dioxide emissions from power stations.
Natalia: You’ve seen this before? What’s the relation to the Mala Noche?
Calleigh: (getting a hit) This was back when we first dealt with the Noche. (thoughtfully) Would they be that careless?
Natalia: What do you mean?
Calleigh: The first time around with the Noche, we traced them to an abandoned limestone mine and processing plant. An entire shipment of arms- grenades- was seized. That’s when we found out about the green light on Horatio.
Natalia: Would they be stupid enough to use the same place?
Calleigh: I don’t know…unless the people Memmo’s workin’ with don’t know about this. (gesturing to the results on the screen) Natalia: (studying the screen) Celaya Processing and Limestone Mine. Isn’t that near the Glades?
Calleigh: Yeah…
Natalia: We should check it out.
Calleigh: Let’s go.

After giving Horatio the details of their possible lead, Calleigh and Natalia head to the Glades. Meanwhile, everyone in the department is put on alert when calls from various parts of Miami- none usually known as Noche turf- come in, reporting gang warfare-like activity.
Walter: (coming out of AV with Ryan) What the hell is goin’ on? Did they all just decide to crawl out of their holes?!

Frank: (checking message) DB in Hialeah-
Eric: (walking in) Shootout in Coconut Grove.
Dave: (stepping out of AV) Guys, there’s an anonymous tip comin’ in from Kendall- possible meth lab.
Horatio: (joining the group) Wolfe, go with Frank. Eric, you and Walter head to Kendall. I’ll take Coconut Grove.
Frank: Let’s go people! (eight patrol cops head out- two with Eric and Walter, two with Frank and Ryan, four with Horatio; to Horatio) Where’s Calleigh and Natalia?Horatio: (stepping into the elevator with Frank) Following a lead on Yelina’s kidnappers.

At the various “callout” locations, low level Mala Noche members check in.

Mala Noche 1: (in Hialeah, standing over the body of a meth junkie) I hear sirens, Julio.
Julio: Get out of there- and make sure you’re not seen!
Mala Noche 1: Piece of cake.
Memmo: (on the phone) What’s happening?
Mala Noche 2: (in Coconut Grove) Fernando can’t shoot for ****, Memmo- but it’s convincing.
Memmo: Get out the minute you hear sirens. Comprendo?
Mala Noche 2: Si.
Mala Noche 3: (in Kendall, across the street from the “meth lab”) No cops yet, Julio.
Julio: Leave as soon as you see them go in. (hangs up; to Memmo) This was a great plan, Memmo.
Memmo: Where’s Santiago and Anita?
Julio: I sent them to the plant to see if the gringo sent anyone there.
Memmo: And if he did?
Julio: That depends on who he sent.

At the old Celaya Processing and Limestone Mine:

Natalia: (getting out of the Hummer) How long has this place been abandoned?
Calleigh: (grabbing a kit from the back) It’d been closed for about three years the last time.
Natalia: Okay, so it’s been almost…eight years, and this place is still standing?
Calleigh: I guess they’ve never gotten around to demolition.

In Hialeah, Frank and Ryan get some shocking news.
Frank: What are you sayin’?
Dr. Loman: This is not a fresh body, gentlemen.
Ryan: But there’s no decomp.
Dr. Loman: This body was chilled- almost immediately after death.
Ryan: In other words, our dead guy-
Dr. Loman: Is a plant. Someone wanted this man’s body found- in this place, at this time.
Frank: That sounds like a lot of planning for a body dump.
Ryan: The question is: Were the other callouts planned, too?
In Kendall:
Walter: (walking through the foreclosed home) Delko, there’s something really strange about this.
Eric: It doesn’t make any sense! Everything that would be in a typical meth lab is here-
Walter: But there’s no sign of actual drugs. It’s too clean.
Eric: Somebody’s messin’ with us. (to Dave on speakerphone) Did you confirm the origin of the tip line call?
Dave: (working controls in AV; split screen) It’s a cell signal, and it came from the same block. I haven’t been able to narrow it down any further than that yet.
Walter: Tag us when you get something.
Dave: Will do.
Walter: (to Eric) Strange coincidence, don’t you think?
Eric: When it comes to Memmo and La Mala Noche, nothing is a coincidence.
Back at the mine:
Natalia: I can’t stop thinking about the strange coincidences in this.
Calleigh: What do you mean? (finding tire tracks)
Natalia: What are the chances of these guys just randomly picking a place that the Noche have already used and been caught at? It doesn’t make any sense!Calleigh: (running the tire tread through the database) It doesn’t make sense…but we do have a match on the tires. (showing Natalia the results) What I can’t figure out is why there’s only one set of tracks.
Natalia: (looking up, surprised) What?
Calleigh: There’s only one set of tracks.
Natalia: How is that possible? There were two vans!
Calleigh: Exactly- it’s not possible.

In Coconut Grove:
Horatio: (to the first patrol unit) What happened?
Patrol: I don’t know, Lieutenant. One minute we’re dodging bullets, the next both sides were running.
Horatio: Any casualties?
Patrol: None. (surveying the area) This is really strange. It feels like-
Horatio: A diversion. (phone rings; checking ID) Eric?
Eric: (walking with Walter to the Hummer) There’s something off with these callouts, H. Nothing adds up. They’re playin’ us.
Horatio: I agree.
Eric: But why would they want the entire department dispatched to these places?
Horatio: Not the entire department, Eric. (running to his Hummer) Meet me at the old Celaya Processing Plant.
Eric: What’s this about, H?
Horatio: They wanted us out of the way. They want...(with Eric) Calleigh!

Back at the mine, Santiago and Anita spot the Hummer in the front, and pull up around the back of the building.

Anita: (on speakerphone) Julio, it’s Blondie…and the other gringa.
Julio: Grab Blondie and get back here.
Anita: But it’ll be more fun with both of them!
Julio: Nita-
Santiago: I think Nita’s right. We’re gonna have to grab ‘em both.
Julio: Just hurry up! Get ‘em back here- we don’t know how much longer our diversions are gonna keep the gringos busy! (hangs up)
Anita: (grinning evilly) Playtime!
Santiago: (looking at Anita warily) You know something, Nita? You’re really scary sometimes.

En route to Celaya Processing and Limestone Mine:

Walter: What do you mean, “single Calleigh out”? She’s with BV.
Eric: (driving like a madman) Walt, that won’t stop these guys from getting what they want. If they want Calleigh, they’ll either catch her off guard, or they’ll go through Natalia to get her.
Walter: So Memmo did all this- the callouts, the fake lab- to get Calleigh?
Eric: (driving faster) Yeah.
Walter: Damn! I know you said this guy is nuts, but this is a whole other level of psycho!

At the mine:

Calleigh: Nat, I think we should get out of here.
Natalia: I’m with you on that. This place is starting to give me the creeps. (packing up; getting an idea) Oh my God.
Calleigh: (looking up from her kit) What is it?
Natalia: It’s all a setup! (getting a look of confusion from Calleigh) The callouts that came in when we were talking to Horatio- three different callouts from three parts of the city, at exactly the same time?
Calleigh: (understanding) Oh God. They were all diversions!
Natalia: The question is: Diversions for what?
Anita: (walking in with a gun drawn and aimed at Natalia) Diversions to keep anyone from helping you!
Natalia: Anita Sanchez.
Anita: (laughing) I’m impressed! The gringa knows who I am! (waving the gun menacingly) Get outside.
Santiago: (from behind Calleigh) You too, Blondie.

While Natalia and Calleigh are loaded into the van and tied up, Eric, Walter and Horatio continue to race toward the plant with backup.

Eric: (on the radio to the backup squad cars) All patrol units, stand down. Block all access routes to the processing plant.
Patrol 2:Copy that.
Eric: (to Horatio on the radio) H, how long have they been out there?
Horatio: Almost two hours.
Walter: We’ve gotta get to them before Memmo’s goons do!

At that moment, Santiago drives the van crazily around a bend in the road, forcing both Hummers into the bushes.

Eric: Sonofabitch! (slams the steering wheel, then starts to get the Hummer back on the road) Horatio: (on the radio as he gives chase) All units, be on the lookout for a white Dodge cargo van.
Patrol 2: Copy that, Lieutenant.
Horatio: (to Walter on the radio) Walter, can you get a fix on Calleigh and Natalia?
Walter: (working on a portable tracker) Hang on. (punching in Calleigh’s and Natalia’s Ids) There’s a weak signal coming from BV’s phone, but it’s stationary.
Patrol 3: (urgently on the radio) All units, be advised: Suspect in a white Dodge cargo van, tag number Mike-Six-Six-Charlie- Hotel-Echo, heading northeast on NW 123rd Ave. Suspect is holding two female officers hostage.
Horatio: Unit 305, do we have visual confirmation on the hostages?
Patrol 3: Yes, sir.
Horatio: Unit 376, get to the processing plant and find the source of that signal.
Patrol 2: Copy that, Lieutenant.
Horatio: Walter, where’s the other signal?
Walter: It’s…it’s moving northeast. Calleigh must still have her phone!
Horatio: Eric-
Eric: We’re five minutes out, H.
Horatio: Be careful, Eric. We don’t know what they’ll do if cornered.
Walter: Wait. Wait! (watches the signal become stationary, then fade) Dammit! I lost the signal. (Eric pulls off on the side) Horatio: Where?
Walter: About five miles from Miami International.
Horatio: (pulling off the road behind Eric and Walter; getting out) Walter, use the last location and search for possible holes between that point and the airport.
Walter: (setting up the mobile AV) You got it, H.
Eric: (frustrated) I should’ve seen it, H.
Horatio: Eric-
Eric: H, I should’ve seen it! I knew Calleigh could be next when they got Yelina. Now they have Natalia, too!
Horatio: Eric, Calleigh knew the risks- so did Natalia.
Eric: (calming down; confused) Wait- why did they take Natalia? It doesn’t fit.
Walter: What do you mean? She’s a member of the team-
Eric: That’s not why they took Yelina and Calleigh. (breathes heavily) They took Calleigh because of me.
Horatio: And Yelina…They took Yelina because of her personal ties to me.
Eric: So why Natalia?
At the Noche hideout, Julio and Memmo come out to meet Anita, Santiago, and their “guests”.

Memmo: (to Julio) I thought you only wanted the blonde- and our other “guest”.
Julio: It made more sense to grab both of them. No witnesses.
Memmo: You could just…(grabs Natalia from Santiago) dispose of the “witness”.
Anita: No! (shoving Calleigh to Santiago and grabbing Natalia away from Memmo) This one is MINE! (twists Natalia’s arm roughly; Natalia winces in pain) Calleigh: What do you want with her? She has nothing to do with this Memmo!
Memmo: I’m not the one that wanted you. (nodding at Julio) That’s who you should ask.
Anita: (maniacally) Can I tell her, Julio?
Julio: Nita, shut up and go get the other one. (to Calleigh as Anita pushes Natalia to Fernando) You’re bait. (touching Calleigh’s hair) I’m sure the man I’ve seen you with would do anything to get you back. (Anita reappears with Yelina) And I’m sure that the man who tried to protect her would do the same. (yanking Calleigh’s hair)
Natalia: Leave her alone! (struggling to get away from Fernando)
Yelina: (to Julio; sporting a split lip and facial bruises) What do Eric and Horatio have to do with you?
Julio: (pulling Calleigh by her hair over to Yelina; hitting Yelina across the face) They killed Tonio!
Calleigh: Tonio?
Anita: Antonio Riaz, leader of La Mala Noche!
Yelina: Riaz?!
Julio: My brother! Those gringos killed him. Now I’m goin’ to kill them!
Natalia: (struggling against Fernando’s hold) You’re insane!
Anita: (turning and hitting Natalia) Shut up! You know NOTHING!
Natalia: (looking at Anita challengingly) Is that the best you’ve got?
Julio: Nita, you can play later. Go call the redhead. (Anita smacks Natalia across the face again, cutting her lip) Nita, NOW!
Anita: Fine! (eyeing Natalia with a malicious grin) I can wait a little longer.
Memmo: Santiago, tie these three up. (gestures to Calleigh, Natalia and Yelina) Julio: Nando, go with Nita. (Anita and Fernando walk outside) That girl loco!

Back on the Turnpike, Walter hits a list of potential hideouts.

Walter: H, there’s about three dozen potential hideouts in a five mile radius.
Eric: (joining Walter in the back of the Hummer) What about most likely locations?
Walter: It’s still not pretty, Delko- about ten…and they’re not close together.
Horatio: Eric, call in backup. The clock’s ticking. (Ryan and Frank pull up)
Ryan: (getting out of his Hummer; trying, and failing, not to look too concerned) Anything?
Walter: We’ve got a list of potential hideout locations, and a short list of the ten or so most likely.
Frank: (coming over) How much area does that cover?
Horatio: A five mile radius, gentlemen.
Eric: (getting off the radio) We have patrol units en route- ETA fifteen minutes. (looking at Walter’s list) All of these locations are clustered around Miami International.
Walter: They’re either abandoned warehouses, old factories or vacant hangars.
Horatio: Eric, let’s take the locations south of the airport.
Ryan: We’ll take the ones to the west. (getting nods of agreement from Walter and Frank)
Eric: (to Ryan, Walter and Frank) Check in at every location. (squad cars pull up)
Walter: You got it. Be careful. (Eric nods as he follows Horatio to divide the squad car patrols)
On the way to the first location on the list, Horatio’s phone rings.

Horatio: Caine.
Anita: Do you miss your woman, Caine? Do you want her back? (laughing evilly) Eric: H?
Horatio: Why don’t you tell me what you want. (motions for Eric to trace the call; switching to speaker)
Anita: What I want? What I want?! (snapping) You can’t give me what I want, Caine- unless you can bring back the dead! You took what I wanted FIVE YEARS AGO!Fernando: (pleadingly in the background) Nita, tell him what Julio wants!
Anita: Nando, shut UP! (to Horatio) You didn’t answer my question, Caine: do you want your woman back? What about the blonde? Huh?
Horatio: The women you’re holding have nothing to do with this. I’ll surrender.
Fernando: (finally getting the phone away from Anita) The Tamiami Canal- where it’s closest to the airport. Be there in half an hour. (hangs up; to Anita) Are you insane?! Keep this up and Julio will kill us both!
Horatio: (hanging up) Eric?
Eric: (working the controls) Got it! Empty warehouse near the bus depot- NW 43rd Place. (Horatio nods thoughtfully) What do we do?
Horatio: Get Yelina, Calleigh and Natalia to safety- then deal with whoever is behind this.
Eric: The Noche have never used women this way before, H.
Horatio: (on the radio to Ryan, Walter and Frank) Wolfe, NW 43rd Place.
Ryan: (pulling a ’U’ turn) Right behind you, H.
Eric: (to Walter on the radio) Walt, how fast can you run a history on Anita Sanchez?
Walter: What do you need?
Eric: Everything. There’s something off about her, and that makes her-
Walter: Unpredictable.
At the abandoned warehouse, Santiago and Carlos are on “guard” duty. Anita storms in with Fernando.

Anita: (whirling to face Fernando) You had no right!
Fernando: I had every right! You were supposed to call the cop, tell him where to meet us and hang up! But you had to run your mouth and lose your temper!
Anita: Who cares?! They’re going to die anyway!
Fernando: Did you forget that they can trace phone calls?!
Julio: (walking in with Memmo) What the HELL is going on?!
Fernando: (calming down) Nothing. Nothing.
Memmo: It sure sounded like something.
Anita: Julio, it’s almost time. Soon we’ll have revenge for Tonio!
Julio: (studying Anita) What did you do, Nita?
Anita: No…Nothing.
Julio: (shaking Anita violently) What did you do?!
Anita: The cop asked me what I wanted. I…I told him he can’t give me what I want because…
Julio: Because what?
Anita: Because he took what I wanted five years ago!
Julio: (slapping Anita across the face) You stupid *****! Dammit! (to Fernando) And you let her?
Fernando: I tried to stop her, Julio. She’s lost it completely- she won’t listen!
Julio: (shoving Anita to Fernando) Then you hang on to her! Keep her out of the way! And if she so much as tries anything, I’ll kill her! (to the others) Let’s go!

Julio, Memmo, Santiago and Carlos load up and head out to the meeting place along the Tamiami Canal, leaving Fernando and Anita on guard duty. In the back room, finally alone, Calleigh, Natalia and Yelina start trying to untie themselves.

Calleigh: (working at the ropes on her wrists) Yelina, are you okay?
Yelina: (trying to scoot into a better position) I’m fine. A few bruises, some cuts…and an empty stomach.
Natalia: When was the last time you had something to eat?

Before Yelina can answer, an argument breaks out in the main warehouse.

Anita: (struggling with Fernando) Let me go, Nando!
Fernando: No! You almost got yourself killed! What the hell is wrong with you?!
Anita: (still struggling) Julio isn’t gonna hurt me! LET ME GO!
Fernando: (finally releasing Anita) Didn’t you hear him? You try anything and I can’t protect you! Do you understand?!
Anita: I don’t care! I deserve to be there when the gringos die- they killed the only man I’ve ever loved!
Fernando: Love? LOVE?! You don’t even know what love is! You’re being selfish!
Anita: I loved Tonio- and they took him from me!

In the back room, Calleigh and the others listen to the rising argument while working tirelessly to remove the ropes. All three women have rope burns, scrapes and bruises, but Yelina’s are worse due to the longer time period that she’s been held.

Calleigh: Anita was in love with Riaz?
Yelina: (breathlessly) That definitely explains the violent tendencies.
Natalia: (closest to the door) Wait, there’s more!
Anita: (back in the main warehouse) Nando, LET ME GO!
Fernando: Nita, Tonio didn’t love you! He was using you!
Anita: You LIE! Tonio-
Fernando: Tonio was married! He had kids, Nita! You meant nothing to him! (trying to be calm) He was going to pass you off to Julio.
Anita: NO! Tonio was leaving that cow wife of his for me! We were going to be together! (pulling a gun) NOW LET ME GO!
Fernando: (wrestling with Anita) No, Nita- NO!

The gun goes off, followed by sudden silence. In the back room, Natalia then hears the sound of running feet leaving the building, followed by a car door slamming and tires squealing. Natalia finally frees her hands.

Natalia: (rubbing her wrists) FINALLY! (untying her feet) Hang on Cal. I’ll be right there.
Calleigh: (untying her hands) No, I’m good. Help Yelina.
Natalia: (going to Yelina) Oh my God! Yelina- your wrists…
Yelina: I know. Just untie me. Please.
Natalia: Okay. Hang on. (Calleigh joins her in getting Yelina free) Cal, we have to dress these cuts.
Calleigh: I’ll go see what I can find.

Just as Calleigh steps away to find possible medical supplies, they hear the sound of multiple vehicles pulling up outside. Fearing the worst, the women find a place to hide behind some old shipping crates. Suddenly, the door to the back room is yanked open.

Eric: Calleigh? Yelina? Natalia?!

Yelina collapses in a mixture of shock, exhaustion and relief, and Calleigh and Natalia scramble to hold her up.

Calleigh: Eric! Here!
Eric: H! I’ve got ‘em! (running to their hiding place) We need a medic!
Ryan: (running in from the main warehouse; to Natalia) Are you okay?
Natalia: Cal and I are just a little banged up. Yelina- she’s got a lot of cuts and bruises and she hasn’t eaten anything since they took her. I think she’s lost some blood, too.
Eric: (to Ryan) Give me a hand. (lifting Yelina and passing her to Ryan; Natalia follows Ryan out) Calleigh: (to Eric) How’d you find us?
Eric: Anita called H with a rendezvous point and forgot about our ability to trace calls. (touching Calliegh’s cheek) Are you okay?
Calleigh: (nodding) Yeah.
Eric: (leading her out to the main warehouse) Babe, who’s the dead guy?
Calleigh: His name’s Fernando. I think he was Anita’s brother.
Ryan: (joining them, with Natalia) Who shot him?
Natalia: Anita. He wouldn’t let her follow Julio and Memmo.
Calleigh: And she was “in love” with Antonio Riaz.
Eric/Ryan: Riaz?!
Calleigh: Julio is Antonio’s brother. He’s the one that arranged Memmo’s breakout from Miami West.
Walter: (walking up) So this was all about revenge- for the death of his brother?
Horatio: (joining them) Yes. (to Calleigh and Natalia) I want you both to get checked out.
Natalia: Horatio, we’re fine. (Calleigh nods in agreement) Horatio: Nonetheless…
Eric: Why don’t you both go with Yelina? She could probably use the company.
Ryan: And someone needs to call Ray Jr. He’s at the lab with Dave and Travers. (Calleigh and Natalia concede and join Yelina in the ambulance) Walter: Umm…guys? (grabbing his crime scene kit) There’s ten minutes to make the meet with Julio.
Horatio: Let’s go.
As Walter gets down to processing the crime scene in the warehouse, Calleigh and Natalia ride with Yelina to Dade Memorial. Horatio, Eric and Ryan head to the “showdown” with Frank and a squad car following closely.

Calleigh: (on phone in ambulance) Hey Dave.
Dave: Calleigh! You’re okay!
Calleigh: Yeah, we’re all okay. Listen, could you bring Ray to Dade Memorial?
Dave: Sure. Everything all right?
Calleigh: Yeah. We’re just a bit banged up.
Dave: Okay. We’ll meet you there.
Calleigh: Thanks. (hangs up; to Natalia and Yelina) They’ll meet us at the hospital.
Minutes away from the meeting place, Eric, Horatio and Ryan formulate a plan while Frank and the squad car take up surveillance posts.

Ryan: H, this could seriously get out of hand.
Eric: We don’t know what to expect with Anita runnin’ loose, either.
Ryan: (checking Walter’s research on Anita) Hey, Eric. Walter got something on her.
Eric: Like what?
Ryan: (scrolling through the record) Mental health issues, psychotic breaks, and absolutely no impulse control.
Eric: She’s a walking mental time bomb!
Horatio: Which means…she’s completely unpredictable.
Horatio pulls the Hummer to a stop and surveys the “showdown” spot, a spot along the Tamiami Canal almost directly across from NW 18th Street. Just then, Julio and Memmo arrive in a Dodge Charger and pull up facing the Hummer on one side, while Carlos and Santiago flank the Hummer in the cargo van.

Memmo: (stepping out of the Charger) Caine! Get out here!
Eric: H…
Memmo: Let’s go Caine! You ain’t goin’ nowhere!
Ryan: H, Memmo’s just the errand boy, right?
Horatio: We’ll just have to find out.
Horatio starts to get out of the Hummer just as the other door of the Charger opens and Julio steps out.

Eric: (shocked) H, that’s gotta be Julio. He could be-
Horatio: (staring Julio down from behind the Hummer door) Riaz!
Ryan: Holy-
Julio: Caine! I wanna see your face when I kill you- and the other gringo!
Eric: (scrambling to cover Horatio while Ryan shifts to keep an eye on the occupants of the van) Ryan, where’s Frank and the squad car?
Ryan: (on cell) Tripp, where are you?
Frank: I’m coming up behind Memmo. Patrol unit is behind the van.
Ryan: (to Horatio and Eric) Frank’s on Memmo’s tail. The squad car’s blocking the van.
Horatio: Let’s finish this.

Just as Horatio and Eric are about to step out into the open, the chaos begins.

Anita: (running up the embankment of the canal and crossing the train tracks) Julio! WAIT!
Julio: (dropping his gun hand in frustration) Sonofabitch!
Memmo: (waving his gun) You shoulda taken care of that ***** when she screwed up the first time!
Anita: You can’t do this without me! I deserve to be here!
Memmo: (watching as Anita continues running toward Julio) I thought you said no more surprises, no more screw ups?! SHOOT HER!!
Julio: (raising his hand again and aiming at Horatio) I’ll deal with her later, after the gringos are dead. (to Anita) Where’s Nando?
Anita: Julio, Nando’s dead. He wouldn’t let me come to you!
Julio: (infuriated) You killed Nando?! You killed your own brother?! YOU *****!!

Just as Memmo is about to finish what Julio can’t, Julio turns and shoots Anita in the chest. All hell breaks loose as the patrol cops and Ryan take down Carlos and Santiago, and Frank grabs Julio, who has fallen into a grief-stricken state. Memmo makes a run for it, with Eric chasing him on foot along the bank of the canal. Horatio moves into position to cut him off when Memmo tries one more time to slow Eric down. Memmo turns to fire a few shots backwards and loses his balance, falling and wedging his foot in a crevice in the rocks, breaking his leg. Horatio stops across the tracks and joins Eric at the top of the bank.

Horatio: (looking at Memmo) Nice try, Memmo. Nice try.
Eric: (on cell) This is Eric Delko. I need a bus at the Miami International Power Station.
Horatio: (holstering his gun) Good work brother.
Eric: (finally taking a deep breath) Thanks.

Back at the showdown site, the patrol cops are taking Carlos and Santiago to booking, and Ryan is waiting for Dr. Loman to show up for Anita’s body. Frank is questioning Julio, who has gone almost catatonic.

Frank: You realize you just killed one of your own people, right? (Julio nods) What, you get tired of her antics?
Julio: She killed Nando for following my orders!
Frank: You already knew she was crazy!
Julio: I never…I never thought she’d kill her own brother! I left him to watch her- I thought he’d be safe!
Frank: So you were trying to protect him? (confused) Why?
Julio: He didn’t deserve this.
Frank: (forcefully) Why were you protecting him?!
Julio: (looking at Frank with tears in his eyes) Because I loved him! We loved each other!
Ryan: (passing by and overhearing; to himself) Whoa. Didn’t see that coming!
Frank: (speechless) Umm…okay then. (pushing Julio into the squad car that just arrived and shutting the door) I’m sorry I asked.

Horatio and Eric have just arrived at Dade Memorial, escorting Memmo’s ambulance. Once the guards from Miami West take custody of Memmo, Eric and Horatio race inside to check on Yelina, Calleigh and Natalia. In the hallway of the emergency room, they meet up with Dave.

Eric: Dave, where are they?
Dave: They have Calleigh and Natalia in Exam 1. The doc just went in. Ray just went into Exam 2 with his mom. (Horatio heads to Exam 2; to Eric) So, you caught ‘em?Eric: (distractedly) Uh, yeah. Memmo’s got guards from Miami West on him down the hall. He busted his leg tryin’ to run for it.
Dave: And the others?
Eric: Antonio Riaz’s brother Julio and two others are on their way to booking as we speak. Anita and her brother Fernando are dead. (at Dave’s questioning look) Anita killed her brother, Julio killed her.
Dave: Wow.
Eric: Yeah.
Ryan: (jogging down the hall) How are they?
Dave: We haven’t heard anything. (looking at Eric and Ryan) Well, since you’re both here, I’m headin’ back to the lab.
Eric: Thanks Dave. (Dave leaves)
Ryan: H is in with Yelina?
Eric: (nods) Ray too.

At that moment, the doctor comes out of Exam 1.

Eric/Ryan: (surprised) Alexx?
Alexx: (smiling) Well, who else did you expect? No one takes care of my babies better than me! (hugging them both) I got the call from the EMTs and met them in the loading bay.
Eric: How are they?
Alexx: Calleigh and Natalia have some nasty rope burns and a few bruises. Natalia also has a cut lip, but other than that and a couple of nasty headaches…they’ll be okay.
Ryan: And Yelina?
Alexx: From what Calleigh and Natalia could tell me, she could’ve been much worse. Cuts, bruises, severe rope burns- her wrists are rubbed raw. She’s dehydrated and weak from lack of nourishment, so I’ve got her on IV fluids for now to level out her electrolytes. Otherwise, as the saying goes, ‘time heals all wounds’. Now…(seeing Eric and Ryan watching the door of Exam 1) why don’t you two handsome men take those girls home? Make dinner, order some takeout. (kissing both Eric and Ryan on the cheek, then giving them a push; to herself) It’s about time those boys got their butts in gear.

Stepping out of Exam 2, Horatio and Ray Jr. talk.

Ray Jr.: You did it, Uncle Horatio. You got Mom back.
Horatio: She did the hard part- she fought until we found her.
Ray Jr.: Are Calleigh and Natalia okay?
Horatio: (nods as Eric and Robert escort Calleigh and Natalia out) They’re leaving now.
Ray Jr.: (watching the others leave) Uncle Horatio?
Horatio: Yeah, Ray?
Ray Jr.: You’re always protecting me and Mom, but…
Horatio: But?
Ray Jr.: But you’ve never tried to take Mom out- on a date, or anything. Why?
Horatio: Ray, it’s…it’s-
Ray Jr.: Don’t say it’s complicated, because it isn’t. You care about us. You care about her- and I know Mom cares about you. (at Horatio’s stunned silence) You’ve always taken care of me and Mom, more than Dad did. I know you hate when I talk about him like this, but it’s true- you’ve been the one there picking up the pieces Dad left behind.
Horatio: Ray, you’re asking me to cross a line-
Ray Jr.: That’s only there because you put it there. Mom never saw that line as an obstacle…and I don’t either. You’re the best thing for us, Uncle Horatio- the best thing for Mom. (grinning) So do something about it. (goes back into Exam 2, leaving a totally dazed Horatio in the hall)
Three days later:

Chief: (as Horatio and Eric enter his office) Good. You’re both here. Have a seat.
Eric: (as he and Horatio sit) Thank you, sir.
Chief: Well, I have some good news and some bad news.
Horatio: Sir?
Chief: The warden at Miami West just called me. (noticing the looks on their faces) Memmo is still under lock and key- with limited yard time because of the escape. Julio Riaz hung himself today- apparently he was found when he didn’t go to the mess at lunch.
Eric: Wow.
Chief: Mr. Delko, SA Talbot has requested I release you from this case ASAP- it seems he’s having a hard time without his forensic specialist. (grinning briefly; shaking Eric’s hand) Thank you.
Eric: It was my pleasure, sir. Thank you for letting me work this case. (to Horatio as he leaves) See ya around, H.
Horatio: Definitely.
Chief: Now Horatio…(with an impish grin) What’s this I hear about you and a certain private detective?
THE END
