It was another day just like any other. The lab was busy with new cases and new suspects. Calligh and Eric still are playing the you say it first game and everyone in the lab has bets on who will say it first.
Lt. Caine seem to be handling the lost of Marisol and he continues lead the team in successful case closure's. Natalia is just Natalia looking for Mr. Right. This story does not focus so much as what they all do day to day. But on their inner most thoughts on Love.
The focus is on CSI Ryan Wolfe and an un-likely woman who is just as dedicated as the team it's self. Maxine Valero a DNA tech who hides in the shadow's of all the other CSI.

Part One of Ryan I Never Knew (The Maxine Story)
Horatio sat in his office waiting for Calligh to come in so he could go over her reports with her. She was about 10 mins. late and that was just not like Calligh.
The elevator open and Eric walked off of it down the hall pass Horatio door.
"Eric, come in for a second please!" Horatio asked.
"Good Morning H. what can I help you with?"
"Calligh have you spoken with her this morning and or seen her last night after work?"
Eric was puzzled that Horatio would ask such a question so he casually said, "No! she left about 7 pm just a little before me so I really can't tell you where she is this morning."
Horatio looked at Eric and could tell it bothered him that he asked in such a way so he politly said, "Thanks! it's just that she is late for meeting with me and this is not like her."
"Well H. if it will make you feel better I will call her."
"No Eric, you don't have to do that I will call my self. Thanks anyway."
Eric left Horatio office, he glanced back through his window and then he continued down to the locker room.
Horatio dialed Calligh phone number, it rang twice then she answered.
"Calligh, it's Horatio is everything alright. We had a meeting this morning and I was surprised that you were late getting in for it."
"Horatio I am sorry, it's just that I had a busy night last night and I kind of got in late."
"Oh I see, well are you here in the building yet?"
"Yes, I am walking to your office as we speak."
"Good, I will see you in a second then."
Horatio was relieved that nothing serious was wrong. Just before Calligh truned the last hall way to where Horatio office was she passed by Maxine lab. Ryan was in her lab and it look as though from what she could tell that something was going on between those two.
Ryan saw Calligh looking through the glass, He smiled then Maxine waved and Calligh continued down the hall. She look back and Ryan was leaving but in a hurry.
Part 2 Ryan I Never Knew (The Maxine Story) Horatio sat in his office waiting for Calligh to come in so he could go over her reports with her. She was about 10 mins. late and that was just not like Calligh.

Ryan walked down the lounge to get a cup of coffee. Eric was sitting there reading a book.
Eric looked up at Ryan and noticed the hideous smile on his face.
"What's up Wolfe? why are you smiling so early this morning you usually come in with a woe as me look on your face."
Ryan started to stir his coffee when he looked over at Eric and said, "I don't know what you are talking about Delko."
"Ok! (as Eric closed his book.) give it up, who is she?"
"No one, Eric I can't come to work with a smile on my face?'
"Wolfe we known each other for how long now? Even when Horatio interviewed you he stated that you had such a demented look that you would properly fit right in here."
"I don't have a demented look, and why would he say such a thing."
"Maybe because it is true. No it's not I have a very distinguishing look."
"Yeah, what ever so are you going to tell me who the woman is. I mean I have not seen that look since you were interested in Natalia and we all know how that turned out!"
"Eric, can I trust you not to say anything?"
"Depends on what it is and who it is."
"Then I want say, and besides you will never find out."
"Ok! have it your way, but the lab has ears and eyes. I will know before the day is out. Put your money where your mouth is? Oops! I am sorry you are not allowed to gamble." Eric left the lounge laughing.
"Horatio I am so sorry, about being late. Well let's begin."
"Calligh, are you sure everything is alright? I sense that it's not?"
"I will handle it, It's just some personnel stuff."
"Oh alright if you need to talk my door is always open."
"Thanks Horatio" as calligh smiled at him for saying that.
"Hey, Natalia you are looking good this morning?" The guys in the media lab told her.
Natalia smiled and kept walking towards her lab.
Maxine walked down to Horatio office to hand him some DNA reports, Calligh looked at her and said, "Good morning Maxine!"
"Hi Calligh how is things going?" Maxine asked
"They are going ok and you?
" Just great! Well tell Horaito here are the final reports from that Mall case when he gets off the phone."
"Thanks I sure will." Calligh kept looking at Maxine as she left the office. Calligh knew something was going on with Ryan and her.
Horatio hung up from his phone call. "Miss Valero just dropped these off?"
"Yes Horatio she said they are the final reports from the Mall case."
"What is going on around here, she is like 48 hours late with these!"
Horatio realized that something was going on in his lab and he was not liking it not one bit.
Calligh looked at his face. She realized he was getting mad about the lack of responsibility from everyone. So he looked at her and said,
"Calligh you are second in command under my watch. I need you to make sure that all the other's are turning in there work, reporting to crime scenes, and making sure the evidence they collect is processed, tag and numbered correctly.
If I get involve I might have to start laying the law down around here. If you do not get cooperation from them, let me know and I will deal with it."
"Ok! Horatio."
Calligh has never seen him that mad before. Who ever was on the phone did not help the situation not one bit.
They started to go over the reports and sign off on them so they could get to the DA office for trials that were coming up. It took all morning. Calligh told Horatio she was going to call a meeting with the team and tell them what he wanted from everyone.
Calligh text message everyone that worked directly under Horatio and her. The message read. "Meeting at 3:00 pm after lunch please report to the CSI Conference room and do not be late."
She made them send her a receive message alert back with their log on.
Eric entered into Natalia lab. I don't think Natalia ever got over Eric and she would literally act like a school girl around him when ever he entered a room.
"Hey Natalia, what's going on?" Eric said
"Oh, just liquid DNA. So Eric I hear that you and Calligh are not speaking right now? What happen."
"Don't you know, I mean you two are like peas in a pod lately."
"No! she seem a little disconnected lately, does that have to do with you?"
"The way she has been acting, I doubt it. I think she is still hurting behind Jake." Eric said.
"Jake! he has not been around in about 6 months. She don't even know where he is or what he is doing."
"Well not my place to say or not say. I just drop by to say hey! see you later."
"Alright Eric later."
Eric was left wondering if he would ever be abel to tell Calligh how he truly felt.
Part 3 Ryan I Never Knew (The Maxine Story)
Horatio called the Receptionist to see if his new ME had arrived. All he knew is she was from Georgia and she had an extensive back ground in the job.
"Good morning Rachel is my new ME here yet?"
"No sir, she did call and say she was running a little late."
"Oh how late?"
"30 mins sir."
"Thank you Rachel just page me, I will be on the floor checking in the labs."
"Alright Sir."
Rachel hung up the phone and called Maxine lab.
"Hey Max, Lt. Caine is making rounds if Ryan is in there you better get him back to his lab."
"Thanks Rachel, but Ryan is in his lab. we discuss not hanging around each other labs so much. I think Calligh is suspecting already."
"Well you two better keep a cool lid on this." Rachel said.
"I know, but I just...oh got go!"
Maxine hung up the phone from talking with Rachel. Horaito walked into her lab.
"Good Morning Sir. is there something you need?'
"No! Miss Valera I just wanted to make my rounds."
"Ok!" Maxine said with a surprise look on her face.
Maxine smiled at Horatio as he checked her counter to make sure it was clean.
"Miss Valera your reports on the Mall case, they were impeccable. I was wondering why they were late."
"Sir!" Maxine got nervous about the question.
"It's not 20 questions just one, I want to know if I asked for the reports to be done on time. Why did I get them this morning 48hours late."
Maxine could not think so she said, Oh I had to wait for Detective Johnson to bring me another piece of the evidence.
Horaito looked at Maxine and said, "Thank you for that answer." Knowing it was not true.
Then he left. Maxine had never seen Horatio like this. something was defiantly wrong.
Ryan and Calligh was in the hall way discussing a case when Eric walked by.
"Ryan looked up first, then Calligh, Eric just walked by without speaking.
Calligh was hurt that Eric would not speak so she smiled at Ryan nervously and said, "Thanks for the information Ryan." Then she walked back to her lab.
Calligh was putting away some weapons she had tested and she stood there in the vault crying. Horaito walked by stuck his head in and called her name. She did not answer so he came in and he found her in the vault crying.
"Calligh, what is it?"
She threw her self on Horatio shoulder and started to cry even more.
"Calligh I am here, you have to tell me what is wrong? I can't believe I am seeing you like this."
Calligh started to wipe her tears and the first thing out of her mouth was. "Horatio I am just so confused. Eric is mad at me, I don't know where Jake is and I am just all over my self."
Horatio realized at that moment why the new department policy was put in place. He thought that he had a responsible and respectful team that he could trust to put their personnel life outside of the department. He was starting to wonder about it.
"Calligh meet me in 15 mins. I have to go meet with the new ME, but we will go to lunch and talk about all of this."
"You don't have to do this Horatio, I mean I can deal with this."
"Well I say so far you are not dealing and we need to resolve all of this. I can't have you in the field emotional like this. Now go wash your face and I will see you in 15 mins."
She looked up at Horatio wiped her eyes, and smiled and said "Ok!"
Part 4 Ryan I Never Knew (The Maxine Story)
Horatio reached his office, he looked in and he saw a brunette sitting in his office. Great he thought she is here so I can get this over with.
He walked into his office, she turned her chair around stood and walked towards him and said, "Lt. Caine! Hi I am Veronica. Sorry that I kept you waiting but I was stuck in traffic. I have to get use to the Miami water ways."
Horatio was stunned, he could not believe the likeness to Marisol. He smiled shook her hand but he could not stop looking at her.
"Quite alright Veronica. It's been a busy morning for me any way."
"Great! This is a beautiful lab you have here. So open and bright."
"I am sure you will like it here, we are the only lab in the southern part of the country that is state of the art. I'll success rate for solving cases are Excellent."
"I know, I did a little studying on the Forensic department in Miami, since you have taken it over you have developed a top notched team. I also understand I have a big job and some big shoes to fill. Alex Woods she was the best in this field I read some of her case files."
Horatio was just taken by her beauty, he did not know what to do with him self.
"Well Alex is just a special individual who loved what she did and had a true heart for the victim."
"I hope I don't disappoint you?"
Horatio thought to him self {I don't think you can with those eyes}
"Did you here me Lt.?"
"Yes I heard you. I am sure you want let us down. When are you starting?"
"Monday Morning at 6 am."
"Great, are you married?"
"Why Lt. such a personnel question on the first day."
No, no!! don't miss-understand me, I ask because we can work some long hours.
"Oh! well to answer your question No! I am not married nor do I have any kids, or fish and or a dog and cat. It's just me."
Horatio disposition changed when she said that.
"Well Lt. Caine it was nice meeting you, I guess I will see you on Monday then." She extended her hand out for him to shake it.
"It was nice meeting you to, I will give you a tour of the department when you get in on Monday."
"That would be nice, thank you."
"Have a good day Veronica, if there is something I can help you with please let me know"
"Thanks Lt. I will do that."
Horatio open the door for her and she started down the hall way. Eric was coming towards Horatio office when he glanced at Veronica and she caught him off guard as he looked at her twice.
Horatio was still standing in the door when Eric walked up and said, "H. Is that our new ME?'
"Yes it is Eric!"
"Did you notice the resemblance to Marisol."
"I did but we must not make her feel uncomfortable because of it."
"But, its creepy."
"Eric she is not Marisol, and as much as I still love your sister today. We have got to stop looking for her in every brown eyed, brunette there is."
"Change the subject!" Horatio said.
"Any way I need to talk to you about something?' Eric said.
"Is it Calligh?'
"Yes, how did you know?'
"ahuh, just say today a lot of strange things are happening in the lab today.."
"Well Calligh and I have some un-resolve issues."
"Well that much I know!" Horatio said.
"Eric we had this conversation a while ago, I told you she needed time to get over Jake. if you really love her like you say. you can't rush her you would only be creating a rebound affect for her. In which case even if she agreed to see you would not last and you would be hurt."
Eric hung his head and then he said, "You are right, I just can't stop these feeling for her. I want her to be in my life."
Horatio started to get the feeling that he was a love doctor or something not an CSI.
"Well look, I am having lunch with her today. She is very up set about something and I need her to turned back into Calligh. So respect how she is feeling and Wait!!!"
"Ok H. thanks."
Just then Ryan and Maxine was walking down the hall together. Ryan did not see Eric so Eric waited until they walked towards the elevator and he decided to walk over to Rachel desk just when they both got on the elevator.
Ryan turned around and Eric smiled and said as he pointed his finger at Ryan, "Gottcha ya!" The look on Ryan face was priceless. Rachel picked up on it and then she smiled at Eric and said, "If you knew what was good for you. You would forget about it."
Eric asked Rachel. "You know something don't you?' She got nervous as Eric faced turned to seriousness.
"Rachel, what is going on between Ryan and Maxine?'
"I can't say, I promised Maxine."
"You promised her what as Calligh walked up to the counter and over heard Rachel."
"I got go, I need to take my lunch now. She told the other Receptionist that was relieving her to just take messages and she would take care of them when she get's back."
Calligh stood there and smiled at Eric, He smiled back. "Cal how are you?" Eric said.
" Oh I am fine I guess!"
Horaito was walking down the hall to meet Calligh so they could go to lunch. Eric saw him coming and he hurried away after he told Calligh he would see her at 3:00 at the meeting.
Calligh wondered what that was all about.
"You ready Calligh?"
"I am Horatio, and thank you for this."
Horatio smiled and they got on the elevator.
Part 5 Ryan I Never Knew (The Maxine Story)
Ryan and Maxine arrived at the doctor's office. Ryan open the door for her and smiled and said,. "Babe are you happy?"
Maxine was like a school girl with her first bra. She kissed Ryan on the cheek and said. "Very!"
Ryan signed in on the list to wait for the doctor. Maxine looked over at Ryan and said "You know we will have to tell them soon?'
"No, we don't Max. I mean Delko is a problem child and we all know it. He will make such a big thing out of this and I would never live it down in the lab."
"Ryan I don't mean to be bring it to your attention but the damage is done, but what difference does it make if he does?"
Ryan knew that this was going to be their first argument so he grabbed her hand and said. "Dear if this will make you feel better then we can pick a time an date and tell Horatio first. Ok."
Maxine smiled and said Ok!"
Ryan Wolfe an Maxine Valera the doctor will see you right now?'
Horaito and Calligh was seated for lunch he picked the beach that way she did not have to feel like she had to hold back on anything. They were sitting on the Restaurant Lanai and she said.
"Thanks Horatio this is nice of you?"
Horatio smiled and said, "Calligh there is nothing I would not do for you."
"Yeah! but you should not have to."
"So tell me what is wrong?" Horatio asked.
"It seem as if my life is out of control, I have two wonderful men wanting to be with me but my heart is telling me different things. I can't even imaging how all of this is going to turn out."
Calligh, tell me how you feel about Eric?"
Calligh looked up at Horaito not realizing that he knew about Eric and how he felt for her. Then again Horatio was family to Eric. She did not know how to answer that so she said.
"I know that Eric and you are very close Horatio, I think in the last two years we have all become very close. I don't no how to explain it. When Eric got shot, every bone in my body said if you lost him, there would never be another love like that. I mean I love Eric, he is what every girl dream of"
I don't know if I have the energy to help him find the confidence he needs with his career and within him self. Horatio Eric is so impatient at times and that drives me crazy."
"Well we know that Eric can wear his emotion out there for the whole world to see, but that is a quality that a lot of men lack and correct me if I am wrong. Women find that sexy don't they?'
Calligh started laughing because Horatio has never used the word sexy around her before.
"Horatio I am sorry for laughing, but I have never heard you talk like this before."
Horatio started laughing also as he realized what he sounded like saying it.
"Well what I mean is Eric loves you this I know. I can tell it in his smile and the way he looks at you. He is frustrated also Calligh, he knows you have feelings for Jake that are un-resolved. He is trying to give you your space to deal with all of this. Eric does not like Jake either, he feels that he is un-predictable and it scares him because of you."
"Really, he said that!"
"Yes, but never tell him that I said it though."
"I want. So what should I do Horaito?'
"Listen, you have to resolve this one way or the other. Ask your self this question and write down both Eric and Jake short comings and their positive comings. after you have finished the list. Then ask the question: Who can I spend the rest of my life with and depend on.""
Calligh looked at Horatio with relief. What he said was right. She could not have Eric continue to wait while she resolve this. She leaned over the table gave Horatio a Kiss and then they started to eat their lunch.
Calligh looked over at the table wear two women were sitting . She glanced first then looked again. She told Horaito to look and he saw Veronica and a friend having lunch.
Calligh saw Horatio expression and he looked at Calligh and said "I know, she is our new ME."
"Horaito she looks just like Marisol." Calligh said.
Horatio knew that he would properly hear this another hundred times until the novelty wore off.
"This is creepy Horatio"
"Well what can I say, we have to deal with it."
Part 6 Ryan I Never knew (The Maxine Story)
Horatio and Calligh finished Lunch it was about 2 pm. Calligh had to get back and get ready for the staff meeting. On their way out Horatio glanced over at Veronica and smiled. She smiled back.
Mr. Wolfe the test results will be back later today. Congratulations to the both of you.
"Thank You Dr. Madison" both Ryan and Maxine said.
"Well, one more step that is done in the process."
Maxine smiled and looked at Ryan and said "Thank you for doing this Babe."
"I guess we better get back for the meeting."
They drove back to Miami Dade and this time Ryan came in through the elevator to the lobby. and Maxine through the side door of the police station.
Eric sat there in the lounge still reading his book when Ryan walked in.
"Hey! you did not go out for lunch today?" Ryan asked Eric.
"No, I pretty much decided I would spend lunch alone. How was lunch for you Ryan"
"Ok! Delko, enough with the hint, hint. Yes I am seeing Maxine."
"You dog, how long has this been going on?" Eric asked all hyped up over the news.
"Seven months."
"Seven months and I am just finding out about it!" Eric said.
"Gee Ryan it sounds serious, is it?" Eric said.
"Oh, it's serious and until I tell Horatio you have to keep it a secret."
"Ok! I never seen this side of you, it is kind of grown up like."
"Well I am not getting any younger and I do want to have kids before my body say's other wise, and I love her."
"I know I need a drink now. Can't wait until I get off. This day has been one of the weirdest days ever."
"What are you talking about?'
"You know our new ME came in to see Horatio today. I was going to his office and she was leaving. She looks like my sister."
"Which sister?"
"Marisol!"
"Stop, you properly just thought she did."
"Nope, even Horaito was taken back by it."
"Gee, how is that going to work in here." Ryan said.
"I don't know but seeing her in the halls should prove to be interesting," Eric said.
"Not to mention Horaito dealing with it going down to Post."Ryan said.
"Oooh! that's creepy!' Ryan said.
Part 7 Ryan I Never Knew (The Maxine Story)
Calligh and Horatio was back from lunch.
Calligh went into the conference Room to get ready for he Meeting. Natalia walked in and said. "I missed you for lunch where were you?"
"Oh! Horatio and I went out to lunch."
"Is everything alright Calligh? I mean we have not really talked in day's and I am just so lonely I can't even sleep at night."
"Nat what is bothering you? You seem up set!"
"You think! I mean my best friend is not talking to me lately, I have no boyfriend and Eric went off on me this morning. I am just not feeling any love around here."
"I am sorry, what did Eric yell at you for?"
"I just happen to mention your name and he got a little sensitive about it."
Calligh step back and realize that she had to do something about this before Eric stop loving her and start hating her.
"Ok, I tell you what after work tonight me, you and Maxine and Rachel we will go out. I think it's time for a ladies night out. What you think?"
"That sounds great, I don't even know my own name my condo is so quiet."
"Ok, well let me text Rachel and Max now."
Maxine looked down at her pager, she received the text from Calligh. she knew that Ryan had wanted to go out to dinner so she thought she would call him.
"Ryan, I just got a text from Calligh it seems that she and Natalia and Rachel are going out tonight for a little ladies night out. I know we had dinner plans but would you terribly mind if I went with them instead."
"Let me see, you promise to come over after?"
"Yes, I promise."
"You promise to love me always?"
"Well let me see, are you worthy of my love? Yes I love you and yes always."
"Then it's ok!"
"See ya in a bit"
"Gee Ryan it is going to be weird seeing you and Maxine all lovee dovie around here."
"Yeah well not as weird as you and Calligh. don't think I don't see you guys in the hall ways."
"No you don't. You see us talking a lot."
"Well you want be getting nothing but a talking to if we are late for this meeting."
"Oh Shut! lets go"
Everyone was entering into the conference room for the meeting. Calligh was sitting at the end of the table. Eric walked in looked at her and smiled. Maxine made sure her and Ryan was not sitting together she sat next to Brain from Isolation. Natalia sat down next to Ryan and Eric was facing Calligh.
"Thanks guys for coming, I met with Lt. Caine this morning and he was not very happy about some things."
The whispering started and Calligh could here Maxine directing the comment to her self.
"Horatio told me to have everyone here today and to relay the message to those not here and are under his watch to report to me from now on. He is concern about tardiness and lack of appreciation for turning in your work on time.
He had build this lab to where it is today and he don't want any problems with staff slacking off or getting content.
In front of you is a list of the things he added and the things you have to tighten up on.
Any one who is more then 24 hours of the due date of submitting your reports must fill out the form I have just given you. An example of and it to will be downloaded to your personnel log on.
He feels that he has created a to relaxed environment in the lab.
So If you have any problems, the chain of command is as follows.
You will report to me for all your daily case loads and information. No more to Lt. Caine. I have a form that I will be feeling out for him each day about shift work, cases, and amount of each case that have an over whelming amount of evidence to process.
Attendance is being watched and he had also decided to inspect your weapons every 15 days instead of the one month process.
You must clock out on time unless the OT is signed by me or Lt. Caine.
You must also clock out for lunch. I need to know if you are leaving the building and if so make sure your department tracker is on.
That brings me to the last thing on the list.
Inter Department Relationships:
You have a copy of the policy in your hand out's Horatio always felt this dept was able to keep their personnel relationship even if it is inter department related out side. He finds this is not so now. He wants anyone who is involved in a relationship to report it to him as soon as possible. He does not want IAB to come around again on this matter.
So if there are no questions then I say shift is over and we all can go home for the weekend.
"Calligh I have a question?" Ryan said
"Yes Ryan"
"What is the time frame of the relationship to be classified as not a problem?"
"Well if the relationship is serious and borders marriage then as long as HR and Horaito knows then it is not classified as a office romp."
Everyone started laughing at the term Calligh used.
Eric looked over at Ryan because it was killing him not to tell everyone about him and Maxine. He kept quiet because Calligh would get mad if he did.
Everyone left and Calligh was still left in the conference room when Eric walked over to her and said I need to speak with you for a second.
"Calligh we will wait for you in the lobby." Natalia said.
"Great I will be there in a second."
"Ok! what do you need?"
Eric walked over and shut the conference door.
He then walked over to Calligh grabbed her and kissed her.
"Eric what was that for?"
"Just because Calligh, I don't know if I can keep this up with you?"
Calligh held his hand and said, "I know! I have to think all of this through and I promise I will. I just need some time."
"Take what ever you need, but know this Calligh Duguense I love you."
Then he kissed on her forehead. and walked out.
She watched him as he left the room and she sat down in the chair for a few seconds with her hands running thru her hair.
Horatio was standing in the door.
"Hey!"
He caught her off guard.
"Hey! the meeting is over."
"I know, are you alright?"
"Yes nothing a few drinks with the girls want cure."
"I see! Well don't drink to much, I hate to be the one to have to come and get you out of jail for what ever you and the girls do when you had to much to drink."
"We will be fine, I think today was weird one so we need to blow off some steam."
"Ok then. Question Maxine and Ryan did they tell you about their relationship yet?"
Calligh eyes got big, she stood up and put her hands on her hips and said, "That's what I picked up this morning not the mention the question Ryan asked at the meeting. Horaito how long have you known?"
Horaito smiled and said, "From day one and that was seven months ago!" Horatio walked away after that statement.
"Calligh mouth dropped to the floor at that statement.
She went to her locker freshen up a little and met the girls in the lobby. Eric and Ryan was standing at the elevator also when Maxine gave Ryan a silent good-bye. Eric and Ryan got on first. "You two are making me ill. don't do that around me anymore." Eric said.
"What Eric, do what!" Ryan said
Part 8 Ryan I Never Knew (The Maxine Story)
Horatio went back to his office as everyone on his team left. The weekend was here again and like always he had know where to go but home.
He grab is keys, and his brief case and started for the elevator. His cell rang and as he pulled it off of his belt. he looked at the number and realize that the name that flash across the screen was one he had not heard from in a while.
"Lt. Caine here!"
"Horatio, hi, this is Yellena."
"Hi, is everything alright?" Horatio asked.
"Oh everything is fine. I realize you must he heading out so I thought I would see what you were doing for dinner?"
"Well I have no plans at the moment, why what did you have in mind?"
"Ray Jr. is over a friends house, so why don't you come over and let me cook for you tonight."
"Yellena, I don't know about this."
"Come on over Horatio, we can just sit around after dinner and talk."
"Talk huh! well Alright I have to stop pass my house first say I will see you around 8 pm."
"That's a good time, see you then."
Horatio watch her number bleep out and he thought to him self. "What am I doing?"
He drove home, took a shower changed clothes and grabbed a bottle of wine on the way out of the door.
He looked at the wine and wondered wine, no this can only get me into trouble. I will leave it in the truck.
he pulled into the drive way of Yellena house. she had some work done to the house which made him realize he had not been over in a while. He looked around and then rang the door bell.
Yellena open the door and like always thru that silly girly girl smile on Horaito. He use to fall for it every time.
"He walked into the house, kissed her on the cheek and said "Hi!"
"Hi your self." Yellena said.
She walked him back to the kitchen, he sat at the counter. Yellena had already had wine chilling in a bucket of ice.
Horatio was just as nervous as a cat in a tree. He kept fooling around with his keys. Yellena looked over at him and realized he was nervous so she thought she would walk over and pour him a glass of wine to relaxed him.
"Yellena I see you have done some work on the house?"
"Yes, I thought it needed a face lift."
"It looks great!"
"Thank you Horatio. (she looked up at him with those Latin eyes)
"Tell me how are you doing?"
"Oh I am fine, work is work. we really had a heavy case load this month."
"Really, and the team how are they?"
"You know there jobs , but there personnel lives they are not doing so well at."
"Calligh is she engaged to that Detective yet?"
"No! she is not engaged yet."
"Well Eric is he engaged yet?"
"No! he is not either."
"Well I guess young people these days are not into family these days."
"I would not go as far as to say that! I mean we or should I say our age group at specially us that are single is finding it hard also."
"Why Horatio, you having problem finding a date!" As yellena walked over and sat down next to him.
"I just have not had the urge to really see anyone since Marisol."
"I see! then are you still in morning for her, because that would explain the lack of wanting to date other woman."
"Yellena its a little more complicated then that, I am just trying to put things in prospective." Horatio drank the wine and poured another glass.
"What about you? are you seeing anyone?"
"No! I mean I dated a few times but they all had a lot missing that I wanted in a man."
"Well who are you comparing them to?"
Yellena looked at Horatio rubbed his hand and looked into his eyes and said, "They are not you."
"Me, why would you want them to be like me. You of all people know how complicated I am and not so easy to deal with either."
"Don't sell your self short Horatio, you have alot going for you?"
"Well this is not something that I think I want to talk about."
Yellena realized he was not ready yet, so she back off.
"Alright then, what do you want to talk about. What has happen to you Horatio?"
"Nothing, you are just making me a little un-comfortable that is all."
"Me! making you un-comfortable. You use to want to jump all over me, now you are running from me."
Horatio realized that dinner was a bad idea so he told her maybe he should leave.
"I am sorry Horatio, I am just mad at my self for not taking the chance when I had it."
He looked at her, as she started to cry over the pasta.
"It's ok yellena, I am just not the same anymore. I miss her and I can't get my head around it."
"I am sorry, I am so in-sensitive, I should have never pushed my self on you."
"It's just about 3 years to late as all." Horatio said.
She smiled and said, "Ok lets sit down to dinner and you tell me all that is bothering you."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes I am sure, come with me."
They set down to dinner, Horaito went on about what the doctor was telling him about his feelings. Horatio told yellena he thought the doctor was a quack but he couldn't prove it. They talked and laugh about everything. It was getting to be about 2:30 am and he realized how late it was and he told her he better get home.
"Alright if you must. This was great we need to do it again " Yellena said.
"Thank you, ( as he looked into her eyes and kissed her on the cheek.) I really needed this."
"You are welcome, now you have to come back to see your nephew."
"I will! tell Ray that I might come and get him for a fishing trip."
"I will!" She watched him get in his hummer and pull out of the drive way. He blew the horn and she waived good-bye.
Horatio was smiling, he thought he would have called for back up if she kept at him.
He thought after all he had been through his feelings for Yellena would have surfaced again. They did not.
Ryan I Never Knew (The Maxine Story) Part 9
Calligh and the girls went to a club that frequent a a lot of good looking men. Natalia,Rachel,Maxine and Calligh all went in the same car. Calligh was hoping by the night something would help her mood.
The bouncer at the door saw them walk up and without knowing that they worked for a Police department he let them ahead of the line and in.
They entered the club, and it seems like it was going to be a busy night. They found a table and all sat down.
Natalia did not waste any time scanning the room for eligibles, Rachel and Natalia walked over to the bar just to hang out for a moment and make them selves noticeable.
Calligh and Maxine stayed at the table. Calligh thought it would be a good time since Natalia and Rachel was not there. She wanted to ask Maxine about Ryan.
First they order some drinks. Calligh waited until Maxine took the first sip and then she casual approach the subject.
"Hey Max, something I been meaning to ask you? Please don't get mad but I hear you and Ryan are dating?"
Maxine started to choke on her drink when her eyes got big and she turned in Calligh direction and said? "Who told you Ryan?"
"No! actually it was Horatio."
"How did he know, we were planning on telling him on Monday."
"Really! That is interesting because he said he knew from day one and it has been 7 months for you two already?"
"Seven months 3 days and 14 hours 20 mins, and 10 seconds."
"Gee, It sounds as if you are in-love!"
"Yep and since everyone is starting to know then I guess I can tell you all the news."
"Do I need another drink for this?'
"No! silly but it want hurt."
Calligh ordered a bottle of champagne because she was happy about Maxine and Ryan. at least someone knows what they want. she thought to her self.
"Call the girls over, I need to tell all of you at the same time."
Calligh motion for Natalia and Rachel to come back to the table. Maxine pulled a chain out from under her blouse.
"Whats up, you guys found some eligibles or something?"
"No! Nat Maxine has some news for us that she want to tell us."
Rachel looked at Maxine with a are you sure kind of of facial expression. Maxine nodded it's ok and she took off the chain with her engagement ring on it.
"What's that Maxine?" Natalia asked.
"Well, since everyone knows now I guess I can tell you all that Ryan and I are engaged.!!"
"What No! stop playing, you kidding me! wait when were you ever dating?" Natalia said.
"Oh, Natalia Ryan and I have been dating for 7 months now."
"How could I have not known about it?" Natalia said.
"Well, congratulations Maxine, I am happy for you, but are you sure you want to marry the Wolfe." Calligh said.
"Marry him I want to have his babies I am so in-love with this man."
"I need a drink!" Natalia said
"Rachel you are quiet over there, what is going through your head about the news?" Calligh said.
"Oh, I guess my turn will come eventually, I mean gee I want to be married to!!"
"Well ladies, here is to Ryan for being a man and to Maxine for loving the man." Calligh made a toast.
Calligh could not help but wonder about her future also. She really had to deal with this Jake thing and Eric thing.
Calligh did not know that someone standing at the bar had their eyes on her.
Natalia got up and started to dance, she was drawing a lot of attention and some of it was un-wanted.
"Nat, don't look now but someone is walking over here looking right at you."Maxine said.
"Really, is he fine!"
"Depends!" Rachel said
"Wait guys, do I need inter ference?"
"Maybe, but to late now!" Calligh said
"Hi, pretty lady, do you want to dance?'
Natalia turned around, looked at him thru a fake smile on the guy then said, "No thank you I am celebrating my girlfriends engagement right now, but thanks for asking."
The guy stood there, as Natalia sat down next to Calligh.
Then he finally left.
"See when you are tipsy, and you get a little out of control the attention you draw." Calligh said.
"AHHHH! like the heat you are getting from over there Miss Calligh!"
"What! who? where?"
"Don't look now but I think he is on his way over here and I can't really see his face but he looks familiar. I know that body from any where."
As Calligh sat there waiting for the guy to come to the table, Natalia said "Well, well lookie here! I will be right back guys. Rachel come with!"
"Calligh I be right back I need to go to the little girls room.!"
"OK! just abandon me with this stranger walking over here."
"You got a big gun, use it if you have to!" Maxine said.
Calligh act as if she didn't know the guy was walking to the table she set there swinging to the music.
"Hello Calligh?"
Calligh froze, she did not want to turn around for fear she would be wrong. So she quickly looked up and her heart just sank in the glass of Champagne she was drinking."
"Jake!"
Part 10 Ryan I Never Knew (The Maxine Story)
"Hello Calligh!"
Calligh silence due the shock that he was actually standing there render her speechless.
"Jake, hi there your self."
"Can I sit down for a second."
"I guess so!"
"You are still as beautiful as I remembered" Jake said smiling.
Calligh lashed out, she had a few drinks in her and everything she was carrying all day in reference to her feelings just came out.
"Oh so you do remember what I look like!"
Jake realized she was angry.
"You are mad at me arn't you?"
"Jake if you came over here to remind me how mad I am at you then you can just leave now."
"Calligh I did not know you were mad at me until this moment, but I like that you are because I am really wanting to kiss you right about now."
"Stay away from me, you have know idea what I have been going through since you just up and walked away from this relationship."
"Are we still in a relationship, because if we are then why are you mad at me.?"
Jake moved closer to her and he was in her face looking her in her eyes. Calligh slid over a little to get away from him.
"Baby, what can I say my job. You know I work undercover and you know that I can go at any time. I know I have not been up front with you on a lot of things, But Calligh this will not go on forever."
"You think I am going to sit around and wait for you! Jake Blakley you sure are sure of your self when it comes to my love for you."
Jake knew at that moment he had her.
"You love me!".
"My mistake, So I am going to give it to you straight. I love you, but you are reckless, irresponsible, and un-predictable. I cannot build a relationship on that no matter how I feel about you. You just want put me first." Calligh said.
Maxine came back to the table, she realized it was Jake so she smiled and said, "What's up hit and run. returning to the scene of the crime are we."
Jake was caught off guard by Maxine remark, it never occurred to him that he left Calligh alone to deal with her feelings for him.
"Max give us a moment please." Calligh said.
Maxine went over to the bar where Rachel and Natalia were.
"What's wrong Max? That's Jake isn't it? I knew, I knew those jeans." Natalia said
"Who is Jake?" Rachel said.
"Is she ok?" Natalia said
"Yeah, you know Calligh she will give it to him good." Maxine said
"It's not Calligh I am worried about?' Natalia said
She knew when it came to Jake Calligh was in love with a bad boy Cop. She just didn't want her to do something irrational and hurt Eric in the process.
Part 11 Ryan I Never Knew (The Maxine Story)
Jake took Calligh by the hand and he asked her to come on the dance floor with him. They were playing soft slow music. She hesitated at first then she got up.
He walked her to the dance floor, put his arms around her and drew her close, she was already a light tipsy. She knew she had to make sure that she kept her sense about her.
"Gee he smells good!" She kept thinking
"He continue to get closer to her, when she pulled back and said, "Don't do that Jake!"
"Do what?" and he continued to blow in her ear.
Natalia knew Calligh was in trouble, so she told Maxine and Rachel they had to go rescue her. They noticed she had started to get relaxed in his arms. Maxine grabbed Natalia arm, and pointed her in the direction of the door.
"Oh No!" Natalia said.
"What are we going to do guys?' Maxine said.
"I don't know but, somebody better think fast." Rachel said
"Ok! Maxine tell Calligh you need her in the bathroom. Rachel took sick." Natalia said.
"I will go run interference between Jake and Eric."
"Who said this wasn't going to be fun." Rachel said.
"If we survive this we will live to see another day." Natalia said
Natalia went over to the door, Eric was coming towards her.
Rachel went into the bathroom and Maxine went and grabbed Calligh hand and told her she had to come Rachel was sick.
"Jake told her he would wait for her."
"No! Jake we might have to leave with Rachel."
"So! why does Calligh have to leave with you guy's."
"Oh she brought us here tonight. "
Calligh told Jake it's properly for the best anyway, that she would call him tomorrow.
"Calligh don't forget now, we have to finish this." Jake said
"I want (as Maxine pulled her towards the bathroom.) good night!" Calligh said.
"Maxine what's the hurry, slow down."
"Come on, I don't know if she is alive."
"What are you talking about?"
"Hey!" Natalia said.
"Hey your self Nat! what are you doing here?" Eric said.
"Oh, me and the girls thought this would be the club tonight."
"Oh! Calligh is here?"
"Yes somewhere!"
"Oh I remember she went to the bathroom something about Rachel being sick."
"I think you had one to many your self." Eric said.
"Maybe! You look good tonight." As Natalia kept him from seeing Jake leave.
"Thank you! would you go tell Calligh I am out here please."
"Sure, don't go anywhere."
"I want!" Eric started to laugh as Natalia made her way to the bathroom area.
"Maxine would you please tell me what is going on?'
"I am sorry, but Eric just walked in."
"No! are you sure?"
"Honey, Eric is like a stallion on steroids, how can you not notice him and know it isn't him."
"Ok! what ever you just said. Thanks! how are we going to get out of here."
Natalia walked into the bathroom.
"Oh it's alright now Jake just left. Eric asked me to come and get you." Natalia said
"I can't go see him with Jake colon on me are you crazy." Calligh said.
"You know guys, I have had enough of surprises tonight, I think It's time to go home." Calligh said.
"The fun has just started it's still early yet." Rachel said.
"I tell you what Nat, you keep my car and I will take a taxi home. Maxine are you going to Ryan tonight?"
"Shoot what time is it." Maxine asked
"It's 12 midnight, why?" Natalia asked
"Because I told Ryan I would have a few drinks with you guys and be at his place about 11:45"
"Well, I will drop you off on my way home in the cab."
"Great, now what are you going to tell Eric, he is going to want to leave with you." Natalia said
"You are right Nat!"
"I need to change blouses with you Rachel." Calligh said.
"Ok!" Rachel said
"I get it. Rachel will be wearing the colon, and this way you can go and talk to Eric. Cool!" Maxine said
Calligh and Rachel traded blouses, Calligh also pulled up her hair.
"Ok, guys lets go!"
Maxine went out first, then Rachel then Natalia then Calligh.
"Gee what were you all doing performing surgery on Rachel?" Eric said
"No, we just had to make sure she stop throwing up."
"Girl can't you hold your liquor?" Eric said teasing
"Yes! very funny Delko." Rachel said.
"Calligh, why didn't you tell me you were going to be here tonight?'
"Well it would not be ladies night out if I did Eric." Calligh said smiling.
"You ok! you seem kind of of nervous or something." Eric asked
"No! just tired and a little to much Champagne is all." Calligh said
"Champagne what were you guys celebrating!" Eric asked.
"Oh that's right you don't know!" Calligh said
"know what?"
"Maxine and Ryan are engaged."
Eric was stunned considering he knew that they were seeing each other but he had no idea it came to an engagement.
"Wow! that was sudden I mean you guys only have been dating for 7 months right!"
"How did you know?"
"Ryan told me today, but only after I twisted his arm."
"Oh! Ok." Maxine said
"Well congratulations I am sure you two will be very happy."
"Why thank you Eric."
"Ok, guy's I am going to call it a night. Nat make sure you bring me my car in the morning."
"Sure! maybe we can have breakfast also?"
"Ok!"
"Calligh how are you getting home?" Eric said
"Me and Maxine are taking a cab. She needs to go to Ryans and then I will go home."
"No, I will take both of you." Eric said.
"Oh, alright! Thanks."
Natalia looked and Calligh took a sigh or relief and said, "See you guys!"
Maxine and Calligh waived Good- bye.
"Ok, Rachel lets do some serious partying, come on girl." Natalia said
Part 12 Ryan I Never Knew (The Maxine Story)
Eric open the door for Calligh and Maxine.
"Are you all right Calligh?"
"Yes Maxine, I am fine!"
Maxine knew she was not ok! seeing Jake sent her in a serious over load.
Calligh was glad that Eric was taking her home, this would give her a chance to talk with him about the situation.
Eric started out for Ryan house. Since it was an hour drive. Eric thought it would be a nice time to find out from Maxine how all of this got started.
"Hey Maxine, not to sound disapproving or anything but could you tell me how you and Ryan got together."
"Sure, I mean it's kind of of spontaneous what he did." Maxine said
"I have got to here this." Calligh said.
"Well you know how Ryan is always coming in my lab being demanding about evidence."
"Yeah, he does that to all of us." Eric said
"Well I purposed that the very next time he came in asking me to put his evidence ahead of everybody eles I would tell him to stick it where the sun don't shine.
So like clock work Ryan rushes in my lab like the house was on fire.
Holding several evidence envelopes shaking them at me.
He goes "Valero I need this ASAP." so I took a deep breath and said Ryan not this time, I am not bending down to you unless Lt. Caine says to rush your evidence. So you are on noticed don't come in here doing that again."
"Ok, but how did that spark a relationship." Eric said
"Hold on! so the very next day he comes in smiling sweetly, which I thought maybe he was loosing his mind or something because Ryan don't do sweet."
"Don't we know it." Calligh said
"Well any way he had in his hands two concert tickets, and he said, "Maxine I noticed how up set you were that I was so demanding.
I want to make it up to you." I looked at him with distrust and said, what are those? "Tickets to Sade concert, I want to take you as a peace offering." oh I love her. "I know!."
From that moment on I really liked being with him he is so sweet, so gentle so kind and believe it or not what we see at work is not Ryan at all.
Eric started to laugh, when he said "Oh is this before he turns serial or is it before his other personalty comes out."
"Eric stop teasing her." Calligh said
"Well Maxine I am happy for you and Ryan so have you two set a date yet?' Calligh said
"Yes!" Maxine said
"Really, when?" Eric said
"One month from Saturday."
"Wait what is the rush, I mean you are not pregnant are you?" Eric said
"Eric you really are stepping over the line with your jokes."
"Oh, I am sorry. but you have to wonder why so fast." Eric said
"If you must know, It's because he feels that when two people love each other and are right for one another why wait."
"Ryan said that!"Eric said
"Yep." Maxine said
"Gee, I am impressed." Eric said
"Well I for one Maxine hope to be invited." Calligh said
"The whole department is, I mean you all are like Ryan family outside his uncle."
"We think of him also as family. Calligh said.
"Well Mrs. Wolfe you have arrived," Eric said
"Thank you kind sir for the ride."
"Oh it's nothing, tell Ryan I will call him later tomorrow." Eric said
"Sure will, good night Calligh and thanks for tonight."
"You are welcome Maxine."
Part 13 Ryan I Never Knew (The Maxine Story)
Eric and Calligh waited until Maxine was in the door. Then they pulled off.
Calligh was yawning, when Eric looked over at her.
"Are you tiered Calligh?" Eric said
"Kind of, but I am glad that you are taking me home. I think we need to talk Eric."
Eric looked at her, thinking this would get them closer to being together.
"Ok! Why don't we go to the beach I have some blankets in the back."
"That's great. But I am going to need some coffee Eric."
"Sure, we will stop for some."
Eric knew about a southern coffee shop that stayed open until 7:00 am. he usually stop there on the way to work.
"What would you like Calligh?" "
"A very large Black coffee hot!"
Eric got out of the truck and walked up to the window at the coffee shop. He looked back at the truck as he watched Calligh slump down in the seat. He had to get her that coffee and quick.
"Thanks!"
He walked back to the truck gave her the coffee, and started out for the beach.
They arrived and Eric parked the truck on the sand. away from the main street.He open Calligh door. she got out and stretched her arms. He grab the blankets and gave her one to wrap around her self. They walked to the shore laid one blanket down and then sat on the other one.
Calligh sip some more coffee, Eric watched her as she made a cup holder in the sand. it was cute he thought.
"So, how have you really been Calligh with all of this? I know I don't say very much about you and Jake and you don't ask."
Calligh turned towards Eric and she smiled and said, "I need to say something before we start. I don't believe in starting off with something and there is secrets."
Eric was puzzled at what she was trying to say, so he told her. "Take your time we have all night."
"Eric Jake is back in town and as much as I love Maxine and Natalia I need you to know he was at the club tonight. I did not know until he walked over to our table."
Eric faced turned to some serious evil expressions.
"So, what did he say?'
"I was so angry at him that I could not make him understand how hurt I was when he just abandon the relationship."
"So what was his excuse for doing that to you Calligh?"
"His job, and his undercover work." Eric did not stress the point that this is what he wanted her to see. So he continued to listen.
"Calligh, I know that I have not always been a supporter of Jake. Frankly I don't like the guy."
"I know Horatio told me why."
"Then you know that he is not right for you. how many ways do I have to spell it out for you."
"Eric, Every bone in body is telling me the same thing, but He is in my blood and I can't shake him."
Eric was a little disappointed at that statement, so he looked at her with contempt and said. "So where does that leave me Calligh. I don't know what I have to do to prove that this is right between us. I love you with every fiber of my being and yet you are chasing some kind of fantasy. What do you think will happen in about a year with Jake Calligh."
"I don't know Eric."
"So because you can't see the future with me, what are you going to do settle for now and then in a years time your heart has been broken again.
No!no, I am not going to allow it. Whether we are together or not, I will not see the likes of Jake Blakley hurt you any more."
Calligh started to cry, she sat there wondering what to say next.
Then she remembered what Horatio said to her at lunch. She sat there in silence between them. Eric stood up and said I have to take a walk.
Calligh stare at the open waves coming in and she realized something that Jake said to her. Jake saw this relationship as a game. It was as if someone turned on a light inside of her. She realize at that moment what she was feeling for Jake was nor more then a flash of sexual heat and that it really had no bases for a relationship. Horatio was right. She jump up and called Eric to come back.
He stopped and hesitated to walk back to her, then she said running down the beach.
"Eric I was wrong, please forgive me."
She caught up to him and he looked at her and said, "Wrong about what?'
"I was wrong, to make you wait like this. Forgive me. Horatio asked me to do something today and It just hit me."
I love Jake but not like I love you. You know me, you know my fears, my dreams, my wants. You are willing to sacrifice for me. Jake doesn't know me like you know me. You are dependable, smart and kind.
Kind to have put up with me all these months. Eric Delko I am saying yes to you and us."
Eric looked at her, with more love at that moment then he had before.
Eric and Calligh waited until Maxine was in the door. Then they pulled off.
Calligh was yawning, when Eric looked over at her.
"Are you tiered Calligh?" Eric said
"Kind of, but I am glad that you are taking me home. I think we need to talk Eric."
Eric looked at her, thinking this would get them closer to being together.
"Ok! Why don't we go to the beach I have some blankets in the back."
"That's great. But I am going to need some coffee Eric."
"Sure, we will stop for some."
Eric knew about a southern coffee shop that stayed open until 7:00 am. he usually stop there on the way to work.
"What would you like Calligh?" "
"A very large Black coffee hot!"
Eric got out of the truck and walked up to the window at the coffee shop. He looked back at the truck as he watched Calligh slump down in the seat. He had to get her that coffee and quick.
"Thanks!"
He walked back to the truck gave her the coffee, and started out for the beach.
They arrived and Eric parked the truck on the sand. away from the main street.He open Calligh door. she got out and stretched her arms. He grab the blankets and gave her one to wrap around her self. They walked to the shore laid one blanket down and then sat on the other one.
Calligh sip some more coffee, Eric watched her as she made a cup holder in the sand. it was cute he thought.
"So, how have you really been Calligh with all of this? I know I don't say very much about you and Jake and you don't ask."
Calligh turned towards Eric and she smiled and said, "I need to say something before we start. I don't believe in starting off with something and there is secrets."
Eric was puzzled at what she was trying to say, so he told her. "Take your time we have all night."
"Eric Jake is back in town and as much as I love Maxine and Natalia I need you to know he was at the club tonight. I did not know until he walked over to our table."
Eric faced turned to some serious evil expressions.
"So, what did he say?'
"I was so angry at him that I could not make him understand how hurt I was when he just abandon the relationship."
"So what was his excuse for doing that to you Calligh?"
"His job, and his undercover work." Eric did not stress the point that this is what he wanted her to see. So he continued to listen.
"Calligh, I know that I have not always been a supporter of Jake. Frankly I don't like the guy."
"I know Horatio told me why."
"Then you know that he is not right for you. how many ways do I have to spell it out for you."
"Eric, Every bone in body is telling me the same thing, but He is in my blood and I can't shake him."
Eric was a little disappointed at that statement, so he looked at her with contempt and said. "So where does that leave me Calligh. I don't know what I have to do to prove that this is right between us. I love you with every fiber of my being and yet you are chasing some kind of fantasy. What do you think will happen in about a year with Jake Calligh."
"I don't know Eric."
"So because you can't see the future with me, what are you going to do settle for now and then in a years time your heart has been broken again.
No!no, I am not going to allow it. Whether we are together or not, I will not see the likes of Jake Blakley hurt you any more."
Calligh started to cry, she sat there wondering what to say next.
Then she remembered what Horatio said to her at lunch. She sat there in silence between them. Eric stood up and said I have to take a walk.
Calligh stare at the open waves coming in and she realized something that Jake said to her. Jake saw this relationship as a game. It was as if someone turned on a light inside of her. She realize at that moment what she was feeling for Jake was nor more then a flash of sexual heat and that it really had no bases for a relationship. Horatio was right. She jump up and called Eric to come back.
He stopped and hesitated to walk back to her, then she said running down the beach.
"Eric I was wrong, please forgive me."
She caught up to him and he looked at her and said, "Wrong about what?'
"I was wrong, to make you wait like this. Forgive me. Horatio asked me to do something today and It just hit me."
I love Jake but not like I love you. You know me, you know my fears, my dreams, my wants. You are willing to sacrifice for me. Jake doesn't know me like you know me. You are dependable, smart and kind.
Kind to have put up with me all these months. Eric Delko I am saying yes to you and us."
Eric looked at her, with more love at that moment then he had before.
.Eric pulled her close and kissed her passionately. She held him tightly. he picked her up through her over his shoulders and took her back to the blankets. They stayed on the beach until the sun came up. Talking all night.
Part 14 Ryan I Never Knew( The Maxine Story)
Maxine went inside to Ryan bedroom. He was fast asleep.
She sat in his favorite chair and watched him sleep for a little bit. His back facing her and his arms were wrapped around his pillow. His hair was slightly in his face and he was still as a mouse.
She thought to her self as she viewed the sheet just down around his hip. and looked up towards his shoulder. He had the sexiest star shape pattern of freckles on his left bicep.
she got up went into the bathroom and got into the shower. The sun was starting to come up and she was dead tired.
She finished with her shower and then she found one of his pajama bottoms and a tank she thru them on and decided to gently wake him up.
She sat on the edge of the bed, brushed his hair from his face and started to kiss him on his shoulder.
He was coming out of his sleep, as soon as she saw that smile. Maxine what time is it?
"It's about 4 am. Babe"
"How long have you been here?"
"A while, I just sat here and watched you sleep."
Ryan turned over chest up and place his arm behind his head. He looked at Maxine as if he was falling in-love all over again.
"What are you smiling about Ryan?"
"You!"
"What, do I look funny or something?"
"No! just the opposite. Did you realize in this light you are the most beautiful thing I have ever seen."
Maxine started to blush, she bend down and kissed him.
The kiss turned inot a full blown passionate kiss. he pulled her close to him and she said, "Ryan I have something to tell you?"
"Yes babe, (as he continued to kiss her on the forehead and the ear and the neck."
"The team and Horatio knows about us. They also know we are engaged."
"Yes baby, ( Ryan was caught up in the kissing.) What!!!!!! did I hear you right." As he sat up and held both her arms.
"Max, how did this happen?"
"Ryan I don't know, it started with Calligh tonight. She knew because Horatio said he knew since day one and that he knew we have been together for seven months."
"He is going to have so many questions for me. Do they really know Max?"
"Yes! wait a minute did we or did we not agree to not tell anyone until we told Horatio first."
"Yes sweetie!"
"Then how did Delko find out Ryan and don't lie because we were with Eric tonight."
"You know how Delko is he is like a dog with a bone. beside he is my best friend."
Maxine started laughing, because it was silly for them to be up set about their love.
"What are you laughing about Max?"
"Do you here us, it's funny, it's just stupid funny."
Ryan thought about it and then he started to relax and laugh also.
"Well it's out. Do you think now we can plan this wedding without being secretive about it."
"Yes, (L0l) oh shut!"
"What Max?"
"My parents, you have got to ask my father for my hand in marriage."
"What! they still do that Maxine."
"My family yes, they also still have shot gun weddings."
"Wait are you or are you not the baby girl of the family.?"
"Yes, and the last to get married."
"What! do you no know how hard that is going to be for your dad."
"Yes, but I will be right there and my mother loves you."
"She might change her mind if she knows we are getting married."
"Ryan stop being a baby. We can drive up tomorrow."
"Max grabbed a blanket and grab Ryan out of bed and they wrapped up in the blanket and set in his Chair on the balcony and watch the sun rise. It was not long before she fell asleep in his arms.
Part 15 Ryan I Never Knew (The Maxine Story)
Eric and Calligh fell asleep at Calligh house. Natalia was ringing the door bell like it was a fire.
Calligh open her eyes, then Eric open his.
"Calligh what time is it?" Eric asked
"I don't know, wait a min. Oh! It's about 11 am."
"Great! I totally forgot I had to go to my parents house for breakfast."
"Eric just call them?"
"Ok! Who is ringing the door bell like that?"
"It has to be Natalia."
Calligh went to the door, her hair was all over her head. She open the door.
"Nat, Gee you act like it's a fire or something. Good morning crazy woman."
"Good morning! What took you so long." Natalia asked.
"Oh! Good morning Eric." Natalia smiled and gave an accusing look.
"Hey, babe got go. My mom is having a fit. I will call you later." Eric said and kissed Calligh leaving out.
"OK!"
"Babe! I think someone has made her decision?" Natalia said
Calligh was smiling because she felt a since of completion now. She did not have to think about Jake anymore and Eric was happy.
"Yes, I did Nat. and I am happy for once."
"Good for you, now how are you going to tell Jake."
Calligh stop in her steps. It never dawned on her that she had to tell Jake about her and Eric.
"Natalia tell Jake, I don't think I owe him anything to be honest with you." Calligh said.
"Calligh after last night, you have to tell him. Hey I will do it for you!"
"No craziness, I am not that afraid." Calligh said
"I know write him a letter, that way you don't have to see him. Natalia said
"No, I will call him now and tell him to meet me for breakfast, You want to come?"
"Unhuhu! Not afraid are we! but yeah I will come. I want to see the look on his face."
"Nat, you are worrying me, you have become evil girl!"
"I know! that is what happens to someone who spend to much time alone."
"What's wrong with me, why I can't find someone." Natalia said.
"If you stop sleeping with them right off the bat, maybe you will find out that there are descent guys out here."
"Calligh! I don't sleep around. I just like cuddling."
"Yeah Nat, be in denial."
"Well, maybe you are right."
"I am going to take a shower, be right back."
Calligh went to her bedroom she, picked up her cell phone and dialed Jake phone number.
She got his voice mail. "Hey this is Jake leave a message!"
"Hi Jake this is Calligh, I was wondering if you were free for brunch this morning. Me and Natalia are going to the South Beach Grill on Maddox. It's about 11:20 am. call me or meet there I have to talk to you?"
"Hey Rachel guess what?"
"Eric and Calligh finally got together."
"No! how do you know?" Rachel said
"Well I came to give her back her car and guess who was here."
"I am so happy for them. I don't know about you but I am getting tiered of being happy for other people."
"I know what you mean." Natalia said.
"Hey Nat, is Lt. Caine ready to date yet. I mean I have always had this big crush on him."
"Rachel, I can't believe you said that! No! Horatio is just to complicated. besides you are not in his league honey."
"Well it was a thought." Rachel said
"You need a physch. doctor. Natalia said
"Well, I have to go meet my sister, Thank you for a nice time last night. We need to do that more often."
"You are right, I guess we can leave the soon to be married people home."
"LoL, I know! Later Nat!"
"Natalia do you see my black earings on the table down there in the kitchen."
"Yes, they are right here."
"Thanks I am on my way down."
"Did you get Jake?'
"No, I left him a message where we will be."
"Where is that Calligh?"
"South beach grill."
"I like that place."
"Ok, lets go!"
Part 16 Ryan I Never Knew (The Maxine Story)
Natalia and Calligh started out to the Grill on Maddox. They first had to stop by and pick up Natalia car at Miami Dade.
"Hey Natalia, I am going in for a min. I want to ask Lacey a question."
"Ok, I will meet you at the grill."
"That's fine, see you there then." Calligh said
Calligh walked in to see if Lacey was at work. She was the weekend shift Ballistic CSI.
"Good Morning Carla, I just want to see if Lacey is here."
"Yes shes in, I think maybe in the lounge the last time I saw her."
"Ok! thanks."
Calligh walked down the hall to the lounge, but she noticed a pair of blue jeans standing at the end of the hall leaning against the corner wall.
She tried to see who it was but couldn't so she just put it out of her head. She open the lounge door and did not see Lacey. So she started down to the Ballistic Lab.
As she got close to the end of the hall way the blue Jean with his back to her seem familiar.
The person back up and then it was clear to her who it was.
She walked up and looked at Jake and said, "Good Morning no wonder you are not answering your phone."
Jake being surprised at Calligh standing there he looked like a little boy caught with a cookie he was not suppose to have.
"Hey! Calligh what are you doing here?"
"One might ask you the same question Jake!"
"Oh, I stop by to speak to Lacey about a case I am on?"
"Really, I was not aware that you worked weekends Jake."
"You know under cover work is never done."
"Hi Lacey, I stop in to see if you received the information I left for you on Friday."
Lacey was total shocked at Jake reaction she turned to Calligh after looking at Jake with contempt and said, "Yes Calligh I did receive your information, I also left you some question's about it but you can get back to me next week on it.
Am I missing something here I mean I thought you two were not an item any more."
Calligh looked at Jake to see how he was going to respond to that.
"Ahhh, (Jake was lost for words for the first time.) It's not like that I mean....."
"Lacey to answer your question, "No we are not seeing each other any more, I am now engaged to CSI Eric Delko." {Gee that felt good she thought}
Jake expression on his face was priceless, Calligh smiled at him and said well I have to go meet Nat, so you two have a nice day. She walked away laughing and at that moment she knew she made the right choice.
Jake stood there watching her very long blond hair swing to the happy beat she was now walking in.
Calligh knew he would call her as soon as he got the chance. She could not wait either.
She went back to her car, called Natalia and told her she could not wait to tell her what happen when she went in to see Lacey.
"Jake what was all that about, why could you not answer the question?" Lacey asked
"Lacey! Calligh caught me off guard. I mean we have been over for months. She is engaged and to Delko!" (he said out loud)
"So what of it, I am happy for them both, I am sure everyone here will be happy for them also." Lacey said
"Yeah, but when did they even start seeing each other." Jake said
"You know I get the feeling that you are not over her, so I tell you what drop dead!!!"
Lacey walked away leaving Jake in the hall way to ponder about Eric and Calligh.
Part 17 Ryan I Never Knew (The Maxine Story)
Jake had checked his message's. He remembered that Calligh said she had called.
Message 18 was Calligh, she left the place where her and Natalia were having brunch. Jake quickly wrote down the name and the street of the grill.
Calligh pulled into the parking lot of the South Beach Grill. She locked her car doors and went in.
Natalia was standing at the bar talking with some guy.
"Hey Nat, I am here."
Calligh went over to find a table close to the water. Natalia walked over and sat down.
"Girl, he is just gorgeous, I got his number we are going to hook up later."
"Great!" Calligh said
"You know you need to get some medication for those mood swings, what is wrong now you should be floating on a cloud right about now.
You are engaged to one of the most handsome and sweet caring guys I know."
"I know I should be right? I just saw Jake at Miami Dade."
"What was he doing there on a weekend?"
"Did you know that he was seeing Lacey now?"
"Stop! hold up you mean to tell me, after all these months you did not know where he was, what he was doing and worried sick about his under cover work and he was laid up with Lacey Carpenter.
Ok! that boy needs some serious smack around."
"I know right!"
"So what happen, was he cornered like a rat in a cage."
"Yep, Lacey asked him a question about our relationship and the rat became speechless."
"No, what did she say?"
"She said, she thought he told her we were no longer seeing each other. I had to answer for him."
"How did you answer, (the waiter brought them two blue lemon aids and took there order for lunch.) Thanks! (natalia said to the waiter.) I mean he very well got caught."
"I told her that we were over for months and that I was now engage to Eric."
"Hold the press, did you get a snap shot of that face of his when you said that."
"I should have, because I thought I would laugh in his face when I saw it."
"What happen after that?'
"I told them I had to meet you and I left.'
"Girl, talking about Kismic, He just got slap with a Calligh right hook."
"I know so why do I feel like, I did something wrong."
"Girl you bet not let Eric every know he was right about Jake. If Eric was to find out Jake was cheating on you, I don't know if Eric would shake his hand or beat him down. So what are you thinking he is going to do now?"
"properly call me."
"Are you going to take his calls, I mean at this point what is the since."
"I know right!"
Just then the waiter brought their lunch in, and coming through the door beach entrance was Jake.
Jake walked up to Calligh and Natalia table. Natalia could not resist after all that Calligh told her.
"If it isn't pie on your face Blakley!.
"Hi to you to Natalia! Calligh I need to talk to you."
"Jake, don't you think there is nothing left to be said here." Calligh said
"No! I don't believe that, I mean let me explain."
"There is no need to explain, I mean it's plan as day, I was just another notch on your belt."
"Don't say that, I mean we had something didn't we?"
"Has under cover work render you brian dead or something, I mean Jake if we did have something you messed that up long time ago."
"Ok! I will be over there Calligh." Natalia said
"So what is this thing with Delko pay back for hurting you. Come on Calligh Delko and marriage."
Calligh truned around close to Jake face and in so many words said, "Jake get over your self I mean Eric is more man then you will ever be, besides I love him very much."
"How is that possible, you love me!"
"No! I thought I loved you, what I had was a fleeting moment of infatuation. It's over now Eric had to pick up those pieces for you. when you walked away from the relationship."
"Well if this is what you want, then I guest this is good-bye."
"I guess so! I can't say that it's been real after all you need to change your name to Leave them and hurt them Blakley."
"Well Calligh, congratulation's I hope you and Eric will work out."
"I hope the best for you to Jake."
Jake started to walk out, but Calligh had one more thing to give him.
Jake!! (as she walked towards him) I forgot, I want be needing this any more."
Calligh handed him his keys to his house.
"Wow, I almost forgot that I gave you those."
"I know, it's been a while since I been there."
"Thanks!" Jake said
"See you around sometimes Jake."
"Yeah I guess so!" Jake said with a even tone in his voice.
Jake left he walked back to his bike. sat on it for a few seconds glancing at the key's." He was hurting, he knew he had messed up.
"Hey Calligh are you ok!" Natalia said
"I will be. that was painful" Natalia said
"Enough! close the door on that chapter of my life, now I have a wedding to plan." Calligh said
"Woohoo! I am so excited, I am your Maid of honor right?" Natalia said.
"I would not have anyone else but you Nat!"
Ryan and Maxine was getting ready to head out to Maxine parents house. Ryan was nervous because he had to ask her father for her hand in marriage.
"Maxine, your dad does not like me! What do you think he will say when I walk up to him and say " Mr. Valero I want to marry your daughter, can I have your permission sir.
He is going to look at me and laugh, then punch my lights out."
"Ryan, you are over acting, My dad is going to give us his blessing's, you have nothing to worry about."
"Did you call them and tell them we were coming up."
"Yeah, I told my mother we had some news."
"Well let's get going!"
"Do you want me to drive babe." Maxine said
"No!"
"Why not?"
"Maxine your driving is not the best."
"What do you mean? I drive ok!"
"No you don't!" Ryan said
"Well, what ever! Just make sure you don't use the interstate as a race way."
"Me speed, No!" Ryan said
Maxine cut her eyes at Ryan and said, "No speeding Ryan."
They started out for Maxine Parents house, Ryan noticed Maxine was now wearing her engagement ring.
"When did you put that on?"
"Last night after Calligh called me out on our relationship."
"It looks good on you!"
"It should you did good with the carat."
"Why do woman always look at the size of the carat on a ring, I mean can't we say how much we love you just by saying it."
"Ryan did you know that in the old days, a man had to bring diary for a woman in order to marry her."
"Yes I knew that!"
Part 19 The Ryan I Never Knew(The Maxine Story)
Ryan and Maxine made good time getting to her parents house. He pulled up in the drive way. and Maxine noticed a lot of cars parked in the drive way and along the street.
"Max what is going on?" Ryan said
"I don't know look like my family is having a party."
"A party what exactly did you tell your mom?"
"Nothing babe, just that we had some news."
Ryan voice started to crack as he parked the car. They got out stood in front of the door for a few seconds and then Maxine open the front door. There were people sprawled all through the house.
"Maxine hi! how are you?'
"Find aunt Deborah, what's all this about?"
"You know your mom and dad they will take any old little thing and throw a party."
"Oh! so what old little thing is this party for?"
"You, silly!"
Ryan looked at Maxine and she thought he was going to be really sick. She took his hand and walked him to the nearest bathroom.
"Babe, I did not know this was going to happen. I am so sorry! are you mad?"
"At you no! at your parents yes, I have to do this while your whole entire family is here. That is just great, does that mean your brothers are here to?"
"I guess, it's not everyday the baby of the family gets married. We can do this just stay close to me."
Ryan held onto Maxine hand like his life depend it on it. Although Ryan never almost sweats he was sweating buckets right about now.
"Maxine, little sister!" Jeffrey Maxine brother grabbed her and gave her a kiss looking at Ryan from behind her."
"So this is him, this is the one who stole my little sisters heart!" Jeffery said
"Ryan this is my oldest brother Jeffrey, Jeffrey this is Ryan Wolfe."
"What kind of name is Wolfe, where are you from?" Jeffrey asked
"East Upper State New York."
"Oh a city boy! Well city boy how did you end up down in Miami?"
"I came down after I graduated from College and join the Miami Dade police force. Now I work for the Forensic Cirme Lab."
"I know, my sister calls my mother a lot."
"Darling come your uncle needs your help" Jeffrey wife interrupted the conversation
"Dear this is Maxine someone, Mr. Wolfe, Mr. Wolfe this is my wife Beth."
"How do you do Mam." Ryan said
"Nice to meet you Mr. Wolfe heard a lot about you." Jeffrey wife Beth said.
"Jeffrey where is mom and dad?"
"Out on the Patio."
"Thanks!"
Maxine pulled Ryan towards the Patio doors to find her parents. she walked through the door and her Dad spotted them first.
"Maxey baby, how are you sweet heart?" Mr. Valero said.
"Dad!" as she gave him a kiss.
"Hello Ryan, how are you?' Mr. Valero asked
"Fine, and you sir?" Ryan said
"Can't complain, so kids I understand you have some news?"
"Yes sir, Is there somewhere we can go and talk in private?" Ryan asked
"Sure, sure follow me." Mr. Valero said.
Maxine gave Ryan a kiss and told him it was going to be ok in his ear.
"Maxey have you told your mother you were here yet?'
"No! dad I see her over there." Maxine said
Ryan and Mr. Valero walked to his office inside the house.
"Hi mom!"
"Maxine you made it?"
"Yes I made it, and what is all of this?"
"Oh, Family we thought we would have family over today for a Bar-Be-Qu."
"Oh, this does not have to do with anything I said this morning on the phone does it?"
"No! maybe a little."
"What makes you think that the news we had would be positive?"
"I know you and it is not like you to call home and say you are driving 2 hours from Miami go give bad news."
"Gee, you still are using that control button arn't you?"
"Maxine why are you so angry?"
"You just can't leave things alone, I moved away because of it." Maxine said
"Well I am sorry if you think I am a busy body, but you are my baby and I want you to be happy and the family want's to be a part of your life."
"Fine then!" Maxine said crossing her arms.
"I see you are still a spoil and selfish brat! I just hope Ryan has nerves of still."
Maxine stood there angry, then she noticed someone she did not want to see. Her best friend Karen.
She walked over to Karen and her mom not happy about Karen being there.
Mom is that Karen?"
"Yes why dear?"
"What is she doing here?'
"She came with her mother."
"Maxine are you two still fighting, I can't believe that. Danny has been gone for 2 years now."
"I know he left because of her!"
Maxine walked over to Karen, Karen saw Maxine approaching her.
"Hi Mrs. Kenmore!"
"Hi Maxine, it was so nice of your parents to invite us. I have not heard from your mom in a while and I was surprised that she called me."
"Well I am glad you could come."
"Hi Karen!"
"Hi Maxine, it's good to see you!" Karen said
"I can't say I am glad to see you?" Maxine said
"Max you are still mad at me after all this time?"
"What do you think, I mean my brother leaves town we don't get to see him anymore accept once a year and you still don't feel guilty about what you have done."
"That is not true I think of Danny all the time, and what I done to make him leave town. I have been miserable with all of this for so long. Not to mention what has happen between us."
Maxine looked at Karen to make sure it was not one of her well known acts.
"Maxine I am sorry, forgive me I miss you? we need to put this behind us.' Karen pleaded.
"It's true Maxine, Karen has suffered also she lost you and she lost Danny. it's time to forgive and move on" Mrs. Kenmore said
"I am sorry, Max!" Karen started to cry.
"Karen my brother was my life, he looked after me, stood up for me and he was my hero. I will not lie, it still hurts when he left, but I guess your mother is right we all suffered in this so I forgive you."
Karen hugged Maxine and told her thank you.
"Thank you Maxine, Karen really do miss you?" Mrs. Kenmore said
Maxine smiled and said well I have to go make sure my fiance is alright!
"Maxine you are getting married?" Karen said
"I hope so if my family does not run him away first."
"Congratulations, I am happy for you."
"Thanks."
Maxine went back to the house, she waited in the kitchen until Ryan and her Father came out of the office.
Finally, the came out and Ryan was smiling which meant a good sign. Maxine dad walked over to her and said, "This one is a keeper Maxey, congratulations baby. Now Let's go tell the family."
Ryan grabbed Maxine around the waste, looked into her eyes and smiled then he said,
"Thank for making me do this? It wasn't bad at all."
"See, I told you this would work out." Maxine said
Maxine Dad walked with them to the Patio as he called everyone together.
Ryan and Maxine stood next to him along with her mom and her brother Jeffrey.
"Family and Friends it's not always that I get to marry off my baby girl. Today Ryan the love of Maxine life drove here to ask me for my daughter hand in marriage.
With Family that is an honored thing as a sign of respect. I thank him for that. I also thank Ryan because he has made me understand that family values are still alive today when we see so little of it.
So I would like to say, That Maxine I love you and I give my blessing to you and Ryan as you two start the next phase of your lives together. They are getting married."
Everyone applauded and cheered and congratulated them. Champagne was passed around as they toast to the up coming wedding.
Part 20 Ryan I Never Knew (The Maxine Story)
Horatio was sitting under the Lanai reading the paper. He noticed that the time was really going by quickly. He grabbed his cell phone and called Eric.
"Delko her!"
"Hey Eric this is Horatio!"
"Oh hi H. What can I help you with?"
"Oh, nothing I thought I might call you to see if you wanted go out tonight?"
Eric was caught off guard by Horatio request. He knew since his sister death he pretty much went into seclusion.
"What did you have in mine?" Eric asked
"Maybe go to one of the sports bar and watch the game there."
"That sounds great, I just have to call Calligh first."
"Really! have you two worked everything out?" Horatio asked.
Eric smiled and said, " I will tell you everything tonight."
"Can't wait." Horatio said.
"I will meet you there about game time."
Eric hung the phone up and called Calligh. Calligh and Natalia was just leaving the Grill.
"CSI Duguense here!"
"Hey babe, where are you?"
"I and Natalia are just leaving the grill. why?"
"I just got a call from Horatio he wants to go out tonight!"
"Eric that is great, maybe he is finally moving on."
"I don't know, but I know I have to help him through all of this after all he has always been there for me."
"I understand, so what you need from me?'
"Nothing I just want to let my girl know that I am going out with the boss tonight."
"That's sweet, but Eric you don't have to check in with me when you want to do something just do it I mean we have the rest of our lives together."
"It's that trust thing right?" Eric asked
"Yes so I will see you before right?"
"Yes you will. I have something for you."
"Alright, see you about what 4:30 then?"
"I will be there." Eric said
Calligh hung up the phone, she was driving home she had about two hours to rest. until Eric got to her place.
Eric was leaving his mother house. She kissed him good-bye and said, "I am happy for you son."
"So am I mom."
Eric called the Jewelers to see if his ring was ready.
"Hi, my name is Eric Delko I am calling to see if the engagement ring I had re-set was ready to be picked up?'
"Hold on sir." the store clerk said
"Mr. Delko it is ready, were you coming today to pick it up?'
"Yes I will be there in about 20 mins."
"That's fine sir, we will see you then."
Eric was very excited as he knew that the woman he was in-love with for so long finally agreed to be his wife.
Calligh got home, she kicked off her shoes and stretched out across her bed. She hit the remote control on the TV watched a little news and then finally closed her eyes.
Horatio was washing the hummer, and he was watching the other college games on his portable TV.
Natalia was on the phone when she got home, she turned on her TV also and the news was on.
"Ryan and Maxine was half way home from her parents house. They stopped to get some ice cream. then went back to Ryans. Ryan wanted to watch the game so he turned on the TV.
Eric pulled up and parked his car in front of the Jewelers. he got out hit the button on his key chain to lock the car. he walked into the store, and approached the counter.
Not long after that two men came into the store. and were acting very suspicious.
Eric asked the young lady for his ring, but kept his eye on the two men at the other counter. The Jeweler said something to them in Russian and Eric realized what was said and he pulled out his wallet and a piece of paper and wrote down. "Walk slowly to the back and call the police. you are being robbed. give them this badge number. "
The clerk looked at Eric, she gasped and then she walked slowly to the back.
Eric could not draw his weapon, the two men did not see it because of the jacket he had on.
Then one of the men jump behind the counter where the jeweler was and then the other saw Eric in the mirror above the counter turned and told him to get down on the floor.
It was not long before two other men came in wearing mask and locked the door and then went into the back room and started pulling out employee's out.
The store clerk that Eric told to call the police was walked out at gun point.
Eric looked up at her whispered to find out if she called the police. and the girl winked to let him know she did.
Eric started talking to the robber's in Russian.
The one robber, who Eric identified as being the leader walked over to him and said.
"Who are you.?" He made Eric get up and he searched him and found his gun and his badge.
He looked over at the others and said, "We have a detective here!"
They all started to get nervous because they were not expecting to rob a Jewlery store and have a detective thrown in the mix.
Within mins. the store was surrounded and the News Cameras arrived.
The robbers really got nervous when all the police and swat showed up.
"Urie how did they no so quick."
"I can give you one guess!" As Urie held the gun to Eric head.
"What are we going to do now Urie?"
"Shut up your crying and let me think."
"Cop get up and sit over there."
"You can't win this situation, the store is surrounded let us go.!" Eric said.
The phone rang, it was the weekend shift detective trying to get them to answer.
Urie let the phone ring as he paced back and fourth trying to figure out how to get out of this.
"Cop! answer the phone and tell them to back off I will kill a hostage."
"No!" Eric said
"You think this is a game, then watch how I play it."
Urie grabbed the store clerk he pulled her up off the floor and and put the gun to her head and looked Eric in the eyes and said, "how do you think I should do this, in front of you or in front of them. It's on you Cop."
"Alright I will answer the phone."
Eric walked over to the phone picked it up and identified him self.
"CSI Delko what are you doing in there?" Detective Carmelo said
"Never mind that, there are 4 men and they have a lot of hostages in here."
"What do they want?" Detective Carmelo said.
"He is asking what are your demands?' Eric asked
"Urie, we need a way out of hear to the airport." Boswell said.
"Tell them we want one of their vans that have bullet proof glass in it, a tank full of gas and the keys left in it out back."
Eric told detective Boswell what they wanted.
"You hang in there Delko and don't do anything stupid." Carmelo told him
The news reporters started giving the public information on the Jewel thieves.
The emergency broadcast flash came across the TV. Horaitio was wiping down the back of the Truck when he heard about the robbery. He stood up and then walked over to the TV.
"The hostages are store employee's and one CSI Detective. Wait we just got his name an Detective Eric Delko."
Horatio went in the house grabbed his weapon and his badge and jump in the Hummer and started out to the Jewlery store.
"Sara hold on, something is happening on the TV." Natalia said
Natalia turned the volume up and she saw the banner about the Robbery flashing across the screen. She saw Eric name and hung up on Sara and called Calligh.
Calligh was sleep, the phone rang about 6 times before she picked up.
"Duguense!"
"Calligh wake up, is your TV on?"
"Nat, I am sleep what is it."
"Wake up and look at the TV."
Calligh turned over and push up the volume on the TV. She saw Eric name and Hostage in the same line.
"Natalia, Eric has been taken as a Hostage in a Jewlery store robbery."
"I got go!" Calligh said
"I will meet you there." Natalis said as she hung up the phone.
"Ryan was already in root, he saw the news also that interrupted his game.
Part 21 Ryan I Never Knew (The Maxine Story)
Horatio pulled up on the scene first. he got out of the hummer looked around and walked over to the Detective in charge.
"Lt. Caine that was quick."
"Report Detective!"
"What we know is there are 4 armed men and 6 hostages including your CSI Delko."
"Have they made demands yet?'
"Yes they want a van with bullet proof windows and the keys left in it out back."
"Who is handling the demand."
"We are waiting word now from the police chief."
"Do we have any Identification on them yet?'
"No! we are working on it."
"Is there a direct line into the store we are using.'
"Yes sir."
"Dial it for me!"
The phone rang and Eric looked at Urie and said, "You better get that, don't make them wait. SWAT is out there." Urie picked up the phone.
"Yeah!"
"This is Lt. Caine, who am I speaking with?"
"Urie!"
"Urie listen to me in order for me to get everyone out of there alive, I need assurance that you will not hurt any of the hostages including that police officer you are holding. Understood."
"Lt. you are not in any position to tell me what to do, I tell you and what I want is that Van."
"alright calm down, let me speak to my officer."
"Here he wants to talk to you."
"Eric listen, are they Russian?"
"Yes, I know H."
"Are the hostages contain in one area of the store?"
"No H. he wants the van."
"Great then you hang in there we will get you out as soon as we can."
"H. Calligh don't let her get involve here."
"I want, I want Eric!"
Just Horatio said that Calligh and Natalia was on the scene. then Ryan.
"Horatio is Eric alright?" Calligh said out of breath.
"Yes he is Calligh, come over here for a second. Calligh I need you to stand down on this one. It's to emotional for you."
Calligh stood there with tears in her eyes, She knew she could not allow Eric to get hurt again.
"Horatio I understand, but you have got to promise me you will get Eric out alive."
Horatio looked at her and said, "That is a promise!"
"Natalia I need you to hang back with Calligh for me."
Natalia and Calligh stood behind the police car.
"Mr. Wolfe, do you remember the hostage situation a few months back and how we gain access to the store.?"
"Yes H. what do you have in mind?'
"The same thing, but his time It will be me going in.""
"H. you know every second counted in that situation."
"I know, that is why I am going instead of any body eles. Every shot will have to count in this."
"Ok!" Ryan said.
Horatio told the Detective what the plan was, He told SWAT to stand by. The police chief gave them the ok to give them the Van.
They called inside the store again.
"Urie, your van is on the way?'
"Good, we will be taking your CSI with us, to assure our safety and when we are at the airport and safe on a plan and out of Miami we will leave him somewhere for you to pick up."
"No! we want allow you to do that." Detective Bosewell said.
"What choice do you have Detective"
"Eric heard what Urie said. He knew that he had to do something."
"OK! the van will be here soon. Take everything you can Carrie. we will be leaving here soon." Urie said
"Find some rope to tie everyone up."
Part 22 Ryan I Never Knew (The Maxine Story)
The store next to the Jewlery store use to be connected. Horatio found a door that was walled over. He had a team come in and cut the wall out. The door was located in the seller of the Jewlery store.
Once the wall was cut out and the door taken off it's hinges, Horatio went through it only to find that the cellar door to the first floor was locked. He called for a lock kit to drill the lock from the inside so he would not let the thieves know what he was doing.
SWAT entered right behind him.
Horatio open the door and it put him into the back room of the vault.
He stopped and listen then slowly open the door. he told SWAT to hang back for a second while he look to see where the hostages were.
Ryan and the other police were standing by.
Calligh was still standing with Natalia only to look at Natalia with tears in her eyes.
"Nat, what will I do if I lost him." Calligh said
"Calligh, Eric is coming out of this, he got you waiting for him."
Calligh laid her head on Natalia shoulder's. Natalia put her arms around her.
Maxine was running towards them from the oppisite side of the street.
"Max, what are you doing here?" Natalia said
"Ryan , where is he?"
"His with Horatio trying to get Eric and the hostages out alive."
Natalia stood there completely out of her element with two of her friends worried about two more of her friends.
The van pulled around the back, The driver got out and left the keys in the the van.
The phone rang on the inside of the store.
"You get it this time Cop?" Urie said.
Eric walked over to the phone. he picked it up and then he saw a glimpse of Horatio standing in in the back room.
"Delko here!"
"Eric it's Ryan, do you see Horatio?"
"Yes, I will let them no."
"You have to distract them for about a second or so!"
"Ok, I will."
Eric hung up the phone.
"What did they say cop."
"The van is out back with the keys in it."
"Bose go check it out!" Urie said
Boswell went into the back room. Horatio waited until he open the back door to the store. Boswell could see SWAT on the roof, and police at the other end of the alley.
He quickly shut the door , and Horatio grabbed him from behind and taped his mouth up.
Urie was getting in-patient, he told one of the other men to go see what was taking him so long.
That's when Eric through the Jewlery stand at Urie and Horatio rushed in taking out the other two.
Urie was facing the store window and SWAT took him out with one shot as he got up off the floor.
The hostages were bound and behind the counter out of harms way.
Horatio asked Eric to secure the store and let Miami Dade in.
Calligh and Natalia ran across the street. Maxine was behind the tape waiting for Ryan.
"Ryan, Maxine is out side." Natalia said
Ryan was shocked at the fact that she came down to crime scene.
Eric walked out of the Jewlery store leading the hostages to safety.
The Jewlery walked up and said, "Detective what were you in the store for?"
"Eric completely forgot, Until he saw Calligh. He walked into the store and asked the Jewlery to give him his engagement ring."
"Detective such a beautiful ring, This is my wedding gift to you and your bride to be. I can never thank you enough for what you have done for me and my staff."
Eric smiled and said, "Thank you sir.!"
He walked back out of the store, and Calligh ran and hugged him. She closed her eyes and thank God for Eric not being hurt.
"Calligh, baby I am ok!" Eric said
Natalia walked over to them both and she hugged Eric and said, "I don't know if my heart could take any more of this thank God you are alright Eric."
"Thanks Natalia."
Horatio walked up to Calligh and Eric he looked at both of them he was very proud of Eric and how he kept his cool in the store. Eric looked at Horatio and then he looked at Calligh and said. "I know this is not the way I wanted to do this but, (he pulled out the ring in the velvet case and got down on one knee)
"Calligh this ring is my grandmothers, I had it re-set to it's original state for you. Calligh Duguense It would make me proud if you were to be my wife!"
Natalia was caught up so, that she answered for Calligh "Yes she will!"
Horatio started laughing, and Calligh wiped her tears and said, "Eric I would love to be your wife."
Horatio applauded and Natalia gave them hugs.
Ryan walked across the street to Maxine, the look on his face was priceless
"Max, are you crazy, what are you doing here?"
Maxine looked at Ryan and she just started to cry and she said, "It is always going to be like this?"
Ryan was taken back by her statement.
"What do you mean Max?"
"I mean I am always going to have this feeling in the pit of my stomach every time you are out on a case."
"Maxine you should have not come down here."
"Ryan don't tell me what to do, do you realize how afraid I was for you."
"Yes I do, but things are ok right now come here." Ryan pulled her close and hugged her. "I love you, you have got to understand this is my job, you either can deal with this or not."
"Ryan I love you, how do I stop my self from worrying about you in the field."Maxine said. Ryan I Never Knew."
"You don't, you pray and you have faith that it is going to be ok!" Ryan said.
Ryan looked at her wiping her tears away, and said "We will get through this together."
"Ok! I am sorry I was just afraid!" Maxine said.
"It's ok to be afraid." Ryan said.
Horatio, Natalia, Calligh, Eric and Maxine and Ryan Miami Dade finest. Live on to see another Miami sunset!

I want to thank everyone who loved this story. I think that the cast of CSI Miami is so unique and specail togather that alot of what I write is based on their Charecter's personality in the show.
