Chapter 92: Mandatory Medical

I let him go and he stood up then. “Alright. Let’s head to the Hummer. I’ll drive you to Jackson.” “For cryin’ out loud, Horatio. I’m fine. Really.” “It was almost two hours ago you jumped out that window, and that cut already looks really infected. What will it look like in two more hours?” I sighed. I stood up with him, there was no sense in arguing. “Oh, and another question…are you updated on your vaccinations since you came to Miami?” “You know, I have no idea. I know I was updated when I was in Wisconsin.” “Well that’s one more thing I’ll have the doctors look up when we get there.” I rolled my eyes as we walked toward the door to head back downstairs. “Good god, Horatio. What is up with you today? Why do you have to torture me? I was sitting here, enjoying the sun, the breeze, and my juice. And you show up and have to ruin it.” “I promise I’ll let you return to all of that when we get home, if you want.” I tipped the glass and finished my juice. “No go. I finished my juice. I just want to relax when we get back.” He nodded. We headed downstairs. We got to the bottom floor and it was at this time that I noticed my arm was beginning to throb and there was something warm running down it. I looked down and I was dripping blood. “Horatio,” I said, “I’m dripping blood all over the place here.” “Hold on,” He said, “Let me grab the first aid kit. I’ll stop that bleeding.” He headed to the kitchen, where he had a kit in a cabinet. He came up to me with it and pulled out some gauze, and began to wrap my wound with it. He wrapped it and taped it together. Then he put the kit together and put it away. Then he walked to the stairs and checked for more blood. “I don’t see any blood on the stairs, so apparently it started bleeding when you got down here. Officers,” Horatio said, addressing the three cops who were down here, “I need one of you to clean up this blood. Bethany and I are heading to Jackson memorial to get her wounded arm looked at. We’ll be back soon. I want all three of you to keep a close eye on the condo while we’re gone. If you need to get a hold of me, call my cell phone.” They nodded and we walked out and headed to the Hummer.

Horatio drove us out into the city, and I shook my head. “You know, I think you might be right, H.” “Right about what?” “Going to the hospital. This thing is starting to kill me.” “See? And you said I was torturing you.” “Just step it up. This thing is getting worse exponentially.” “Step it up? I thought you didn’t like hospitals.” “The faster we can get there, the better.” He nodded once, and flipped the lights and siren, and began speeding through traffic. “When we get there, pull directly into the emergency room.” “That was my plan.” “So what the hell did you have on that windowsill? Black plague?” “It’s more likely you got that infection from the bushes or from the soil when you rolled out of the bushes after you landed.” “Great.” Horatio then grabbed his radio, pressed a couple buttons on it, and said: “This is Lieutenant Caine to Jackson Memorial Hospital, please come in.” A second later, I heard a female voice reply, “This is Jackson Memorial Hospital. Come in.” “Yes, this is Lieutenant Caine with the Miami-Dade Police Department. I have an injured patient with a highly infected cut on her right arm. Her vitals are stable and she is conscious and coherent. We are inbound. ETA is approximately eight minutes.” “10-4 Lieutenant Caine. We will be expecting you. Bring the patient to ambulance dock 3.” “Oh hell,” I said, looking down and realizing I was now soaking through my bandages again, “I’m bleeding again.” “Reach into the glove compartment. There is a first aid kit in there. Grab the gauze compresses and put pressure on the wound. I am speeding things up.” Horatio put the pedal to the metal. “Horatio, it’s just a cut…” “The way that thing is bleeding, I would say we have a very short time before the infection enters your bloodstream and begins to affect your vitals and consciousness. Which is why I’m hurrying.” The Hummer sped toward the hospital, and civilian cars hurried to get out of its way.

Chapter 91: Role Reversal

I had to find a car and I had to find one quick. I took 8th street and headed west, toward Alton Court. That was the main street that would get me back to the main land and off Miami Beach. From there I could go south and reach the MacArthur Causeway. I reached Alton Court and found a squad car that was parked. Finally, some good luck! There was an officer inside, too, apparently running radar. I crossed the street and carefully knocked on the window, flashing my badge. He rolled down the window. The officer was recognizable. “I’m CSI Caine, listen – I need a ride to the Miami-Dade Circuit Court.” “Oh, hey officer,” He replied, “Get in! Oh you mean the courthouse crime scene?” “You bet!” “What happened to your vehicle?” “Long story. Can you just get me there please?” “Bad day?” He asked as I jumped in, he started up the car and turned us in the right direction. “You could say that.” We crossed the causeway. “I swear I recognize you, Officer. What’s your name?” “Officer Jessop.” “Well, of course! You were there while I was in the hospital the first time, and you were there before I got shot.” “CSI Caine…of course. You’re the Lieutenant’s wife, aren’t you?” I nodded. We were halfway there when the radio chirped to life, and an all too recognizable voice came over the airwaves: “Attention all units: This is Lieutenant Horatio Caine. I have an escaped protective custody subject on the loose, repeat: escaped PC subject. The escaped PC subject is Officer Caine. Subject is armed. You are ordered to detain on sight. Repeat: DETAIN ON SIGHT!” Officer Jessop looked at me. “He’s talking about you, isn’t he?” I nodded. “You’re not going to detain me, are you?” He shook his head. “I’m supposed to, but I’ll drop you off and head back to my speed trap. According to anyone, I never saw you.” “Thanks. Horatio is just being paranoid again.” “I know how he gets.” We got there within ten minutes. He drove up to about a half block away. “Thanks for the ride.” “Anytime.” I got out of the squad and he drove away. I approached the courthouse. It was roped off with crime scene tape. I flashed my badge and was allowed to pass. So far so good…I looked around the scene. It was just like my dream. Around me, members of the team worked on evidence and other people hauled away bodies. I was walking slowly, thinking, “if Horatio had believed me, I could’ve saved these lives” when suddenly I was stopped by two male bodies. It was Ryan and Speed. “CSI Caine.” Ryan said, with a small smile. “Bethany.” Speed also acknowledged me. “I’m sorry, Bethany, but uh…you’re not allowed in this scene.” “What do you mean I’m not allowed in this scene? I’m a CSI. I’m here to work it.” “Well, first off,” Ryan began, “You have no gloves on, and you have no kit with you. Second off, we were all ordered to detain you on sight.” “Come on, guys. Horatio is being paranoid again.” “Is he?” Speed asked, “He’s trying to protect you from a very real threat. A sniper and two mobsters that want you dead.” “Speed, I got this covered.” Ryan said to Speed, who nodded and got back to work. “Ok, here’s the deal,” He said to me, pulling me to the side and lowering his voice, “I’ll give you ten seconds to get your ass out of my crime scene, or I’ll apprehend you right here and right now. And you can wait for Horatio when he arrives, and he could be here any second now.” I nodded. Another cop was giving me a break. I was actually having some good luck today? I couldn’t believe it. “You run out of here, and I’ll act like you escaped. I’ll count to five. Go!” I broke into a sprint back out of the courthouse and hopped the yellow tape. I heard a Hummer pull up just as I broke the perimeter. And then I heard his voice. “BETHANY!”

Horatio was already getting fed up with chasing her, this game was a very dangerous one she was playing. She didn’t seem to take seriously the danger on her life. He was risking his own ass by being out here looking for her. In a case in the Hummer, Horatio had borrowed the Feds’ sedative pistol. He was going to cut her chase short real fast. He grabbed that pistol and took off in pursuit. He just needed to close some of the distance and then take a shot…and his accuracy with any pistol was proven to be over 98% accurate at any given time. She wouldn’t be able to run from him too much longer.

I knew he was behind me, and he had some sort of weird looking pistol. I dove into some trees where I’d be well hidden. Apparently he didn’t see me jump into the bushes and trees. I hid well, where I could see him but he could not see me. I pulled out my cell phone and silenced it. And then I texted him.

“Horatio, put away the gun.”

He holstered the weapon while withdrawing his phone to text me back. I got my response within seconds.

“Stop running from me.”
“I can’t do that. Because you won’t let me do my job.”
“If your job features snipers and Mafiosi that want you dead, I can’t let you out to do that job, not until it’s safe.”
“What’s up with the gun?” I texted back.
“Where are you?” He ignored my previous message apparently.
“Somewhere where I can see you but you can’t see me."
“What’s up with the gun?” I resent my text.
“The gun is the FBI’s sedative pistol. You’ll get a dose of this if you don’t cooperate.”
“I’m sorry, Horatio. I have a score to settle with Gracy. That means I can’t cooperate.”
“Come out of hiding and we can talk.”

I followed his advice. I slowly came out of the bushes. “I’m sorry, babe. I have a score to settle.” “You have no such score. You have to let the team find him and apprehend him. And then you have to let the system handle him.” “The system failed me, Horatio!” I said, getting angry, “The system fails everyone! There is no real justice...I must find my own justice!” “Justice is not yours to serve.” I kept my distance so he could not reach me. “I’ll give you a choice. You can come back peacefully, or you can run again. But if you run, I will shoot you with a sedative dart. And then I will carry you back to the Hummer and you’ll be moved back to the condo. It’s up to you.” I sighed and still did not move. “Let me protect you. Let me do my job. Please, Bethany. I love you too damn much to have you out here running around, risking your life for some ‘vengeance’. Please…let me help you. The question becomes…how much do you trust me?” That wasn’t fair. He hit me from an angle I wasn’t expecting with that question. “I trust you with my everything.” “Then come with me back to the condo, so I can protect you. Please, all of your needs will be met there, all your wants. And most of all, you’ll be safe.” I smiled, then and walked toward him, wrapping my arms around him. “I love you so much, Horatio.” I said, tearing up now. He kissed me and gripped me tight. “I love you too, Bethany.” “The only thing I can’t believe,” I said, as we walked back to the Hummer hand-in-hand, “is my nightmare came true!” Tears streamed down my cheeks. This time he wrapped his arms around me and lifted me right off the ground, so I was now wrapped in his warmth. He carried me with ease back to the Hummer. “Can I ask you something?” I half whispered into his ear. “Anything.” He replied with the same half whisper. “Can you get someone else to drive so I can stay in your arms?” “I’ll tell you what,” He said, “When we get back to the condo, I’ll hold you for as long as you want.” I smiled. The day could only get better.

The drive back included a drive by the blown up courthouse. I shook my head as I looked out the window. “I could have prevented that, Horatio. If you would’ve listened to me, I could’ve gotten there at like 9:00 and saved those two lives that perished…” “The bombing happened at approximately 9:05. Five minutes would’ve never been enough time to get everyone out. Also, as I told you, a dream isn’t enough reasonable suspicion to convince a judge to clear out an entire courthouse. There was also no viable evidence of an imminent bomb threat.” “I don’t know how I knew about it before it happened though. I must be getting psychic in my old age.” My ‘old age’ comment made Horatio smile. He drove us by it and back due south, toward the MacArthur Causeway. I watched the scenery pass by. “Why did you run from me?” Horatio asked. “You already know the answer to that question.” I replied simply, without looking at him. “You wanted to find Gracy and exact your revenge?” I looked at him and nodded. “And how exactly did you plan on doing that?” “I had no plan.” “You had no plan?” “Nope. I was going to find him and improvise on the rest.” “I would never advise not having a plan going into a situation like that.” “I know. My police training doesn’t either. But nothing matters when someone messes with my family.” “You could have easily gotten yourself killed.” “I know. But that’s a part of the job every day, isn’t it?” He nodded and didn’t say any more. “I don’t want you to worry anymore, Horatio. I have a plan.” “And what does this plan entail?” “I’m going to pass my ‘revenge’ off to someone else, and he can handle it – the legal way. You’ll know him, he’s part of the team.” I smiled this time, and Horatio did not, but he did nod. “You’re mad at me, aren’t you?” I finally asked. “Not mad,” He replied, “Just concerned.”

We finally arrived at the condo about ten minutes later. We parked the pitch black Hummer in the garage downstairs and took the elevator back upstairs and walked into the condo. Inside there were about three uniformed MDPD officers walking around. I stopped dead in my tracks. “Whoa. What’s this?” I asked Horatio, who smiled a bit. “Bethany, these are the additional officers I told you about before you took off.” He pointed to one officer at a time, “Officers Johnson, Malone and Jessop.” One nodded, one waved, and Jessop smiled. He was the only one I recognized. “I checked their backgrounds and only picked the most highly decorated and trusted officers from the department to watch over condo…and us.” Officer Johnson was a female officer, and was a cute brunette that greeted us with a matching cute smile. She had her hair pulled back into a ponytail. She was slim and about my height. Damn, she’s hot. I thought to myself. “Hi, I’m Officer Johnson.” She shook my hand and Horatio’s. The other two were male officers. Officer Malone was taller than Horatio, I figured something in the neighborhood of 6’3. He had slicked back black hair and these gorgeous brown eyes. Damn, he’s hot. I thought. Did Horatio pick all the hot cops from MDPD just to mess with me? “I’m Officer Malone. And, before you ask, no relation to the Malone Crime Family.” I laughed. “You must get that all the time.” “Yeah. All the time. Well now that they’re all dead it’s sort of a moot point.” “And of course you know Officer Jessop.” Horatio said, with a smile. Officer Jessop and I shook hands anyway. “If you look outside,” Horatio began, “You will see a couple of the snipers on the rooftops. And do you remember the rules of protective custody?” I sighed. “All too well.” “I will allow you to keep your weapon, since you are a police officer now and have been trained to properly use it.” Of course the rules had been modified since I had become a cop.

The Rules:

No leaving the premises without approval from me first. If you leave, I will find you, and then bring you back here.
No weapons except for the ones I may or may not provide to you.
No going out for any reason, if you want food or something, ask me or one of my officers, and we will bring it to you.
No answering the door. An officer will answer it and tell you who it was.
No contacting any outside people by phone, including family and friends, without approval. I must secure the line and make absolutely sure no one is listening in.
If you do contact others, you can explain your current situation with them, but do not mention any names of me or any of my officers, or the location of this safe house. DO NOT mention any details about other safety procedures that are kept in the safe house, either.

I sighed, this was going to be a long…who knows how long it was going to take MDPD to catch Gracy. It could take a day, a week, a couple weeks, or longer. I hoped the team worked fast and efficiently to take down this criminal, before he or the Versetti’s struck again, or I went insane from being stuck in custody, whichever happened first. I shook my head and headed upstairs. The second floor had a wet bar, and that included a small fridge. Horatio knew I didn’t drink very often, so he stocked much more soda and juice in the wet bar than liquor, so I grabbed my favorite juice and a glass and headed upstairs to the rooftop terrace. The weather was favorable today, though a small chance of rain was forecasted. I got upstairs and set up my favorite chair and settled into it with my favorite juice drink. Now: to execute my plan I was talking to Horatio about. I pulled out my cell phone and called Eric.

Eric was in the lab when his cell phone rang. He recognized the name and number that appeared on the ID. He knew whatever she was calling for, it had to be good. “Delko.” “Yeah, hey Eric, it’s Bethany. Listen, I am calling you for a personal reason. I promised Horatio something and I need to follow through.” “Yeah, and what’s that?” Eric asked. “I told him that I’d pass my mission to a member of the team, and I chose you. I trust you, so I’m going to pass my mission of vengeance to you. Eric, Gracy tried to kill Horatio. You get that son of a b*tch.” “I know. I’ll do everything in my power, Bethany. I promise. We’ll get him.” “You better. Or I’ll be stuck in protective custody from now until the end of the century.” Eric laughed. “Awww, come on, Bethany. Horatio isn’t that bad, is he?” “It’s not Horatio. It’s being stuck in this condo, all day. All night. I can’t go anywhere on my own. I can’t do anything on my own. No independence.” “It’ll all be over soon.” “I hope so.” “Just relax and trust us. And you have my word we’ll do everything in our power to get Gracy and the Versetti brothers. We’ll let you know if anything comes up.” “Thanks, Eric.” “Anytime, Bethany.” And she hung up. He shut the line and smiled. That made his day.

Horatio was a bit leery to let Bethany just be loose around the condo since she escaped recently, but he trusted her anyway. He was relaxing on the couch reading the Miami Herald when his cell phone rang. It was Eric. “Eric, you got something for me?” He asked. “Well, H, I just wanted to let you know that your wife just called me.” “Bethany just called you? When?” “Just now.” “What did she have to say?” “She talked about passing a ‘mission of vengeance’ to me. Said she trusted me. Told me to get Gracy. Said something else about fulfilling a promise to you.” “Well, Eric, I wouldn’t call it a promise, but she is good for her word.” “She told you she’d do that?” “Yes she did.” “Why?” “I have a feeling it has something to do with helping her move on, so she no longer feels the need to escape custody and track him down herself.” “What are you going to do?” Eric asked. “I’m going to go talk to her. Did she tell you anything else?” “She said she’s going to go crazy being stuck in custody if we don’t catch him soon.” “Good. Thanks, Eric. Keep me posted.” “Anytime, H.” Horatio closed his phone, pocketed it, and headed upstairs.

I was leaning in my chair watching the palm trees sway in the breeze, enjoying the sunshine and sipping my juice when Horatio appeared in the doorway, and walked slowly toward me. “Why did you call Eric?” He asked. “I have a feeling you already know the answer to that question.” I replied “Yes…I do. But I wanted to hear your version.” “I’m a woman of my word, Horatio. I called Eric to hold up my end of something I told you I’d do.” “Shifting your ‘mission of vengeance’ to him?” “Yes. I did that so I would no longer feel the need to take matters into my own hands.” “And did your plan work?” I nodded. “Yeah, I think so. I’m more relaxed right now than I have been in weeks.” “I’m glad.” “Why don’t you pull up a chair and share the moment with me? The sun’s out, there’s a gentle breeze.” “I’m just glad you’re alright. That was a two story fall out of that second floor window. And then I found blood on the window frame…” “Blood?” I asked. I leaned back in my chair and put my arm on the armrest. “Ouch.” And I saw that I had in fact cut myself while trying to escape. Why the cut hadn’t hurt until now was a mystery. He pulled up another lawn chair and leaned in close to me. “Let me see it.” I bent my arm and sure enough, I had a partially scabbed inch and a half cut on my arm. Why didn’t I feel it when I jumped out of the window? I showed it to Horatio, who removed his sunglasses and squinted at it. “It looks infected. You should go down and get it looked at.” “No. No hospitals.” “Bethany…you’re in my custody…” I sighed heavily. I knew I couldn’t argue with him. “Come on, Horatio. I’m relaxed here, enjoying a nice day. And you have to come ruin it.” “It’s my job to protect you. And I love you. That’s a bonus, right?” He asked, showing a sense of humor in an attempt to get me to smile. He knew I couldn’t resist that smile. My smile mirrored his before I wrapped my arms around him. “It’s always been a bonus. I love you too!” “You know what? I promised you I’d hold you as long as you wanted once we got back here, but I will once we get back from the hospital.” “I hate hospitals.” I replied, still in his arms. “I know. You have no reason to be afraid. I’ll be there.” I didn’t want to let him go. I knew what was coming next: A drive to Jackson Memorial.

Episode Recap: When a young co-ed is found electrocuted with her pupils fully dilated, making her blinded by light and unable to fight back, the team suspects it's the work of a killer from a year ago. Suspicion falls on the ophthalmologist who was the lead suspect in the first murder case, but when the detective, Reggie Mastow, who worked the first case and has since been put on restrictive duty for assaulting the ophthalmologist, becomes hell-bent on pinning the murder on the ophthalmologist and interferes with the team’s investigation, the team questions if he's trying to deter the case because he's the killer. In order to prove who the real killer is, the team uses technology on overlapping prints that didn't exist a year ago when the first murder took place.

Personnel issues: Delko lives in a Motel for unknown reasons. Calleigh is intimidated by Reggie in the elevator. Horatio and Frank have to arrest a fellow officer, and Reggie hangs himself, at the end we can see Frank telling the sad news to Horatio who's standing next to another dead body (nothing revealed about that). Ryan drops a little boy at school, nothing is revealed about the boy at this point.

Chapter 90 - An Interesting Night

“I hope there are no more uninvited guests waiting here on this boat for us.” I said to Horatio, who nodded in agreement. “I agree.” “What do you think Ron wanted?” “Ron is a…nuisance, and he lives to get under my skin.” “No one can get under your skin.” “Very few people can, and it’s very difficult for them to do so.” I smiled, he put an arm around me and pulled me close. “They’re only trying to test you,” I said, “They’re only seeing if they can piss you off.” “That,” He said with a pause, “won’t happen. Especially the night of my reception, which is supposed to be a celebration, and a night I get to spend with my wife.” “H.” We both heard another familiar voice. It was Eric. “Eric.” Horatio replied. “The ‘DJ’ wants the bride and groom downstairs. He wants to start ceremonies.” “Before we start anything, Eric, I want you to tighten security if possible. Bethany and I just had a run in with Ron Saris.” “Ron Saris? How did he get on the boat?” “He said he was invited by Doctor House.” “Where is he now?” “He was removed. But I think it would be prudent to tighten security and let the team know to keep their eyes open. You’re armed, correct?” “Of course, H. Everyone brought their department issue weapons with them, just like you ordered. What about you, Bethany?” He asked me. I smiled, and pulled the hem of my dress up my right ankle. There was a pistol in an ankle holster there. No one could see it otherwise. Horatio and I agreed before the wedding that everyone was going to be armed. After all, we had met at a bank robbery, and our relationship since then had been nothing but nonstop shootouts, mafia wars, SWAT raids, police chases, CSI investigations and protective custody cases. We expected nothing less at our reception, and since the arrival of Horatio’s nemesis Ron Saris, we knew the night was only going to get more interesting.

By now, it was just starting to get dark outside. A black full sized van was parked in a parking lot somewhere in Liberty City. “Alright, so you got that rocket launcher?” Tony Versetti said to Valentino, his brother, who sat next to him in the van. “Hell yeah I got the RPG. I held up my end of the plan. You get the blueprints?” Tony’s end of the plan involved stealing blueprints of the Miami Circuit Court from a historical building downtown. They also knew, according to public record, what court room they needed to break into tomorrow. “Alright,” Tony said, “The whole thing is going according to plan. How many rockets did you get?” “I got two rockets, you know, in case I miss the first time.” Tony nodded and sighed. Their plan was to break William Gracy out of court tomorrow when he was due for his preliminary hearing. In their opinion, it was high time for Gracy to finish his job, and to finish off the Caine’s. Then, who knows? Tony imagined him and his brother breaking out the entire Maricelli family… “So when do we gotta be there?” Valentino asked, breaking Tony’s daydream. “9am sharp. Then five minutes and BOOM!” They both laughed. Tomorrow was going to be the most fun they’d had in weeks.

I woke up with a startle the next morning. I sat up and looked at the clock. 8:45. Usually when I woke up with such a startle, I sat up quickly and woke up Horatio. As if on cue, I heard his voice. “Bethany…are you alright?” I was drenched with sweat. It was Monday morning. Last night was our reception, and the night had gone smoothly. It was the first event in our relationship to go smoothly, with exception to the wedding. “Yeah, Horatio. I think so. Had a hell of a dream.” He sat up, too, now. “You wanna talk about it?” I was tired as hell, but this was how he would comfort me sometimes. We had a few nights where we spent time talking away nightmares. It eased my anxiety enough so I could get back to sleep. Horatio and I were not due into work today. Normally we’d be getting up about this time. “I had this really realistic dream that someone took a rocket launcher and blew up the circuit court.” That seemed to catch his attention. “Did you say rocket launcher?” “Yeah.” “I know a guy that actually did that.” “Really?” “Yeah. His name was Clavo Cruse. I’ll have to tell you about him sometime.” “Anyway, there were two guys, but only one shot the launcher. There was a reason they blew up a courtroom…perhaps trying to help someone escape? I just remember an explosion and lots of screaming. And then I saw a few bodies here and there. And the two guys with the rocket launcher escaped, and so did the felon they came for. You don’t happen to know someone due into court today, do you?” “Bethany, relax. It was a nightmare.” “What if it turns out to be a premonition, Horatio? Those people that died? I’ll be standing there going, I could’ve saved them.” “Come here.” He said, laying back down and inviting me. He put his arms around me and I could hear his heartbeat. “I want you to relax and forget about the dream. You can even go back to sleep if you want, I can tell you are still tired. I am going to get up soon and make some breakfast if you want some. Ok?” I could only moan by then, I was already half asleep. I could almost feel him smile down on me. I fell asleep not soon after.

I was startled awake again, later, this time by the phone ringing. I looked at the clock first: 9:30. Damn, I might as well forget sleeping this morning! I picked it up and looked at the caller ID. It said “Ryan Wolfe”. That meant it was an official number, and that was never good news. I hit the call button and opened the line, and put it to my ear. “Caine.” “CSI Caine? This is Ryan Wolfe, I’m the new CSI. I was tasked with informing you about the explosion at the courthouse.” The last four words of his sentence hit me like a pile of bricks. “W-what explosion at the courthouse?” “Well what we think happened is someone shot a rocket launcher at the courthouse and blew it up, in order to break William Gracy out of custody.” William Gracy, that scumbag sniper that tried to kill Horatio. The one even I wanted to kill. “Alright, Horatio and I will be down soon.” I replied, clicking my phone shut. I reached over to wake up Horatio, but he was gone. The first time I realized the other half of the bed was empty. I figured he was up and around and making breakfast. Horatio had always been much more of a morning person than I was. I went to get out of bed, and I was startled to see him standing by the door just inside the bedroom. He was fully dressed, complete with his badge and gun. He also had a very serious look on his face. “Horatio? No doubt you’ve heard the news.” He simply nodded. “I can’t let you work this case.” “What!” He turned on the lights so I could see him better. “Bethany, Gracy is a professional sniper, hired by the Maricelli crime family to kill you. I can’t risk having you out there while he’s on the loose.” “Horatio – you can’t!” “We’re also pretty sure the Versetti brothers are behind this attack, and you know those two would try to kill you given the chance, they’re the ones who hired Gracy.” I stood up. I was upset now. “Horatio, I have to be there at that scene! They need me!” “Another thing. William Gracy. You have a definite conflict of interest there, as you have motive to harm him, and you are emotionally involved with his case. I have no choice but to remand you to protective custody until further notice.” “Stop protecting me!” “That…I won’t do. I’m sorry, Bethany. I have no choice. I am your superior officer and your husband. I must and I will protect you…with everything I have.” “What about you? Who’s going to protect you?” “I’m not going out to the scene either. I’m going to stay here with you. That way I can ensure you are protected and comfortable here at the condo. The rules of protective custody apply until further notice. I have additional officers on their way. And I have MDPD snipers posted on all nearby rooftops. I’m making this condo untouchable.”

I sighed, when was he going to allow me to protect myself? Protective custody? Who was he kidding? Bottom line was, I knew I had to get out of the condo before the squadron of cops showed up, because the entire place was going to be turned into a nice fortress once they were here. I was his wife and a fellow officer. I shook my head, now that he had left the room, it was safe to. I sighed. Thing was, he didn’t see me as a fellow sworn officer. He saw me as his wife and as a delicate woman who could die from the slightest thing out there on the streets. The reality? I was a battle hardened veteran cop who had seen my fair share of police chases and shootouts, and I knew my way around squad cars, Kevlar vests and firearms. Alright, I admitted to myself, perhaps not so much a “veteran” cop yet, but I knew my way around a firearm better than some veteran cops, and likewise had been in more deadly force scenarios than many of them had seen in their entire careers. Some cops got through their entire careers without having to fire their weapon. Hell, I didn’t even get through a week without having to shoot and kill a suspect, and then having to go through the normal IAB shooting investigation protocol afterward. I wondered why I had been chosen for this, did the gods choose me for this? Was I some sort of warrior? Law Enforcement, like many of us cops, was in my blood. It ran through my family. At least two generations in my family were Law Enforcement. My father, for example, had been a cop himself for a number of years, and had not been surprised one bit when he heard I had landed my job down here. I sighed again and rubbed my forehead. I knew what I had to do: I had to get to that crime scene. I got dressed and got my badge and my gun. Unfortunately there was only one way out of this condo and Horatio had that exit guarded well. I supposed I had to go out one of the windows. That would be interesting from the third floor. I walked around to each of the windows and looked down for something to break my fall – bushes, a dumpster…anything. Down below one of the windows, I saw bushes. However, I knew once I breached the window, the alarm would go off. I also knew a fall from such a height would be too risky. I quietly snuck downstairs to the second floor and went to the couch near the wet bar, since it had two windows near it that faced the same direction as the bedroom upstairs. I looked down and spotted the same bushes. I knew I’d have about ten seconds to get my ass through that window once the alarm went off. I opened the window and counted down…three, two, one…and I used a solid kick to the screen to dislodge it and it went flying. I crawled through the window and jumped. I landed on my back in the bushes. I rolled onto my feet and sprinted out of sight from the condo. I knew Horatio would be pissed – I broke custody again.

Horatio heard the alarm went off the second it did, and he felt his stomach turn. He didn’t hesitate – he went sprinting for the second floor with his weapon drawn. He got to the second floor and he found white dust on the floor and some broken plastic. He holstered his weapon and ran up to the window, looking down and out. The bushes below had been disturbed. “BETHANY!” He yelled. There was no answer. He had no doubt she had escaped – again. He looked at the window, there was some blood on it. She had cut herself? He shook his head, growled something under his breath, and headed downstairs in a hurry. He grabbed his cell phone. He knew where she was headed. If he was her, he’d head for the crime scene. He opened his phone and dialed CSI Wolfe. “Wolfe.” “Yeah, Wolfe, this is Horatio. Listen, Bethany escaped protective custody. I want you to be on the lookout for her. If you see her – don’t let her leave. I’m on my way.” “Alright, sir. We’ll be expecting you.” Click, he closed his phone and almost ran out of the condo, en route for the Hummer.

Chapter 89: The Reception

Horatio and I left the church and approached a limo – a black one with streamers all over it, and a sign in the back window that said “JUST MARRIED”. The crowd showered us with rice as we got into the limo. I carefully pulled my dress in and closed the door, sinking into the seat with a sigh. Horatio smiled. “You ok?” He asked. “Yeah…I’m fine. Crowds stress me out, that’s all.” “We’re leaving one crowd to join another. You’ll be ok?” I nodded. “Yeah. I’ll be great as long as you’re at my side.” “And that,” He replied, “Is a position I will never abandon.” “And that I have no doubt of.” I replied, mirroring his gentle smile. The limo drove us toward the port, where a smaller boat was waiting for us. As we got out of the limo, I noticed it said “US Coast Guard” on it. “Wow,” I said, as we walked toward the boat to board it, “You pulled strings with the Coast Guard? I’m impressed, Horatio.” “Well, it’s no big deal. I have a few friends in the Coast Guard and they allowed me to use one of their smaller boats to transport us between the port and the cruise liner.” “Nice! You always impress me.” “I’m glad I can still impress you.” He took my hand as we walked down a boardwalk and then onto the ship. “Just be lucky I don’t get seasick.” I joked, as the boat started the engine and we were off.

As we approached the cruise liner, the first thing I noticed was the name on the front of it: “The Fortune Maker”. The second thing I noticed was the pumping bass inside. The third thing? There were already at least a hundred people there. “How many people did you invite?!” I said, laughing. “A lot.” He replied, also laughing a bit. We docked our boat with the Fortune Maker, and a man in a tuxedo guided us inside. We emerged into a large room with tables and a bar. On the tables were wine glasses. The man in the tuxedo picked up a glass and started tapping it with a fork. The crowd got silent and the music was cut. “Ladies and Gentlemen!” The guy said, “I present to you…husband and wife!” The entire crowd erupted into applause. It took me a second, but I eventually recognized the man in the tux. “Wilson?” I asked. He turned around and smiled, nodding. “Thanks for inviting me.” He said, smiling. “Long time no see!” I replied. We hugged. Horatio was clueless. “Wilson, my husband Horatio. Horatio, this is Dr. Robert Wilson, Head Oncologist at Princeton Plainsboro in New Jersey.” Horatio nodded and they shook hands. “Princeton Plainsboro…isn’t that where Dr. House is from?” I nodded. “Wilson is a good friend of Dr. House. Which means…he’s here somewhere, isn’t he?” Wilson nodded. “House isn’t too fond of social events. He’s probably up on the penthouse getting some sun and enjoying the view.” “How did he limp up the stairs?” I asked, puzzled. “Easy. He didn’t. He took the elevator.” I looked at Horatio. “This ship has an elevator?!” He nodded and smiled. “You can go upstairs and catch up if you want. I’ll be down here.” Horatio said. “Ok.” I replied. Wilson smiled and we walked to the elevator. I hit the button for the penthouse and the doors closed. “Your husband…he doesn’t seem to like House very much…but then again no one does.” “He’s a bit…jealous.” “Really?” Wilson asked, seemingly shocked. “Yeah. There’s a bit of chemistry between me and House, and it irritates Horatio. Of course, House would never be able to get between us…” “Of course.” Wilson interjected. “But I think Horatio trusts him. He doesn’t know him all that well, but he trusts him. I guess one day at the condo Horatio and House had quite a conversation. However, I wouldn’t know because that’s the day House drugged me. I was almost passed out cold on the couch before Horatio kicked him out…into the pouring rain.” “Well good for him. House can’t always be allowed to get his way.” Wilson replied, smiling. The elevator stopped and we got off. The penthouse had tables all over the place, and it was quiet. People were spread out here and there talking. I saw House near the edge, leaning on his cane, looking out over the water. “House.” I said. He turned around. “Congratulations…and thanks for the invite. It beats being stuck at Princeton Plainsboro all day, dealing with Cuddy.” “Thanks, and you’re welcome. What’s wrong with Cuddy? I liked her.” “You like everyone,” House replied with his usual dose of sarcasm, “Cuddy is usually a royal pain.” “Well that’s her job, isn’t it?” I asked, laughing, “I mean, she is your boss.” “Well we’re going to head downstairs and enjoy some of the food…we’ll catch up with you later.” Wilson said, smiling. House nodded and they both headed back to the elevator.

I was alone, peering at the sights. Then I heard a voice. “So you’re the wife of Red, huh.” “Who’s ‘Red’?” I asked, “And who the hell are you?” “I’m an old friend of your husband’s.” “Ron Saris.” I heard Horatio’s voice. “Well, well, there he is.” Ron replied. “How is it that you got into my reception uninvited, Ron?” Horatio asked. Ron smiled. Ron Saris was a man of about his early forties, with curly brown hair. Half of his face was scarred, like it had been burned in an accident at one time. “Oh, I was invited, Caine. The good doctor invited me.” “Guests can’t invite people, Ron. So your claim to being invited is invalid. And that means you don’t belong here.” “Awww, come on, Red. Why do you have to be that way? I come back to Miami to visit an old friend, and you have to be all unfriendly.” “We both know you didn’t just ‘come back’ to Miami, you’ve been here for quite a while, because you were working as a confidential informant.” “Eh, that job ended a while back. I’m back in the private sector again. You know how it goes, Caine. I’m legit, for now.” I saw the two security guards walk up, which meant that Ron’s coast guard escort back to dry land had arrived. “And your ‘legit’ ticket outta here just arrived.” I said. “Well, if you don’t want me here…I’ll be seein’ ya, Red. It was real nice seein’ ya. You take care now.” “As always, Ron. As always.” Horatio replied with a smile. Ron turned on one foot and left.

Yep, This is like the fiftieth time I've written this. I guess that what I get for writing young. Anyways, I hope you enjoy, I've put a lot into this fanfiction.

A Secret That Cannot Be Kept

Jesse's Apartment

Jesse popped the cork out of the wine bottle and poured it halfway into two a tall wine glasses. He grabbed the remote off the counter to the music player, and turned on the classical music CD he bought a few days ago, specifically for this night. He was clearly trying to hard, but it didn't matter. This was the first night in a few years he was trying to impress a woman since his wife died. He swore to himself he wouldn't fall in love after her murder, but this was the only exception. This woman was special. Her name was Natalia Townsend. He had met her at Miami Dade where he worked as a detective and she worked as a new lab tech. He had finally pulled up the guts to ask her over for drinks a few days ago. To his surprise, she said yes and here he was.
There was a faint knock at the door and Jesse didn't hesitate for a second to answer it.
"Natalia," he grinned after he opened the door. "You made it."
She pressed her lips together and formed a smile. "Why are you so surprised?"
Jesse shook his head and handed her the glass of wine he poured earlier. "I didn't think you would get away of that husband of yours."
He knew her husband well enough. He got arrested for breaking Natalia's arm a few months before she got a job at Miami Dade. Jesse knew he was abusive, but Natalia wouldn't admit to it, no one could make her no matter how hard they tried.
"He thinks I'm visiting my parents."
Jesse nodded as he poured himself a glass of wine, he lifted it up a few inches above Natalia's. "Well, we can forget all about him, because this night is ours."
Her eyes looked hopeful as she touched her wine glass with his. "Cheers."

Chapter 1:
Wednesday
September 16, 1996

Jesse's Apartment

Jesse exited the closet of his room, straightening his tie as he noticed his phone was ringing on his nightstand across the room. It was Natalia. He hadn't talked to her in a few weeks after she said they should stop seeing each other in her fear that Nick might find out.
He flipped the phone open. "Natalia?"
"Jesse," Natalia whispered, her voice trembling.
"Is everything alright?"
There was silence for a few seconds before Natalia spoke again.
"No...I'm pregnant, Jesse."
Jesse's first assumption was that it was Nick's and she just wasn't ready to be a mother, but then he realized it was his. They got drunk that one night and had sex. Before he could respond or even take a breath, he heard a familiar voice in the background. It was Nick.
"Natalia?!" he yelled into the phone.
Silence.
"Natalia!" he repeated, this time louder.
He quickly looked at his phone to see that she hung up.

Chapter 1

Horatio was in his office doing some paperwork and Eric comes in and says we have a 911 call. A woman is standing on top of the building and getting ready to jump off and she is in distress. Horatio runs out of the office and gets in the hummer and goes to the place where the woman. Horatio races to the scene and there are a lot of people standing around, Horatio yells everybody stand aside please. He gets into the building and gets in the elevator to the last floor in the building and finds his way up to the roof. He is on top of the roof and sees the woman standing there getting ready to jump off. He walks over slowly so as not to frighten her. He is standing right next to her and tries to talk with her. He asks her what her name is. She quivers and said my name is Rebecca Smith why do you want to know my name. Because Rebecca I want to talk with you. Why do you want to jump off the building? Rebecca says because my life sucks and I just want to end it all. Horatio says to her what is wrong with your life you are a pretty woman. Horatio asks her how old are you? Rebecca says 25 my whole life is ruined i don't want to be here anymore. Horatio ask why is your life ruined? Because I was with my boyfriend and we were living together and all of a sudden he started to beat me up all the time. I just can't take it anymore. Horatio is horrified (Horatio believes that no man is worth it if he beats up women). Horatio says well if you come down from there we can talk more about it. She stands there scared i don't know if I can come down. Horatio reaches for her hand and grabs her off the ledge.So she is just standing next to him. Thank you Lt.Horatio and they go back into the building and finds a place where they can go sit down and talk about all this. He sits on a couch in the lobby and the two of them talk. Horatio asks why didn't you report this to the police about the beating you have been getting.

Chapter 2

Horatio is talking to her with more questions, this needs to be reported to the police. What is the names name? Rebecca replies his name is Jason Rauch, can you tell me where is living at? He lives in Miami not far from this building. Does he have a cellphone number? Yes, it is 305-247-9929. Where does he work at? He works for Best Buy as a computer technician in the repair division. Well i think first of all you need to go with me and report this and put out a restraining order on him. Rebecca is crying and says if he finds out about this he will kill me for sure. Horatio says well you have nothing to worry about I will protect you till we find him and put his ass in jail so he will never hurt you again, I can promise you that . Horatio takes her hand and says well you are not going to stay where he is, I am offering my house to you and you can stay there until this is all taken care of. I will have an officer there guarding you so he cannot get to you. I'm so very sorry you are going through something like this. My house is your house for now. Horatio takes her by the hand and they walk hand in hand to the hummer so they can go back to MDPD. He helps her into the hummer and Horatio gets her inside the hummer and horatio takes off. Horatio races back to the station so she can be totally checked out.

Chapter 3

They get back to the station and Horatio goes and gets Calleigh and Natalia to take Rebecca to a room where they can see what kind of bruising she has. Before she goes in, she ask Horatio I have to tell you this I wasn't going to tell because I'm afraid of what he will do to me but he raped me too. When was that? Last week on Wednesday night. You should have told this to me sooner but I know how upset you are so its okay. You will have to have a rape kit done just to make sure you are not pregnant.
Natalia and Calleigh arrive and Horatio fills them in on what happened to Rebecca and he introduces Rebeccca to them. Rebecca starts to get upset again and starts to cry, Horatio says it is going to be okay if we do all these tests then we can prove that he did this, he will be going to jail for a long time, I will make sure he never comes out. Rebecca follows Natalia and Calleigh to a private room where they close the door. Horatio just watches as they close the door he feels so sorry for her but he is determined to get this guy. Natalia & Calleigh check all over her body for any bruises and black and blues. They are horrified to discover how much bruising she has on her arms,neck,legs and back. We are so sorry Rebecca this is awful. We don't see how you were walking around like this in pain with all the beating up that he did to you. Rebecca puts her clothes back on and Natalia and Calleigh leave and they told her to stay right here. Why don't you have a seat at the table? Rebecca says okay and sits down and starts shaking all over. They get outside and inform Horatio of all their findings. Horatio just shakes his head and says for them to get the paperwork started for a restraining order on Jason Rauch.
Horatio walks into the room where Rebecca is and sits down next to her. He hugs her and she starts to cry again and starts to tremble all over. Horatio says it is going to be okay, I promise you that he will never hurt you again.

Chapter 4

Rebecca asks Horatio, well what about this rape kit that has to be done? Does it get done in a hospital or somewhere else? We will have it done at the hospital and the sooner the better for you. Are you going to take me there?Of course Horatio says not a problem. Rebecca says well I need to get this over with but I am scared never had this done before. Horatio assures her it will be okay and he will be right there with her. Horatio asks are you ready to go? Rebecca says Yes hesitantly. They walk out to the hummer and helps her in and he gets in and he drives her to Miami Dade General Hospital. He drives as fast as he can because he knows how bad she feels and scared. As he is driving, he puts his hand on hers and she squeezes his hand because she is so scared and afraid. They pull into the hospital and takes her to the Emergency Room and asks the receptionist if Alexx Woods is on duty today. The receptionist says yes she sure is. Horatio asks if she can get Alexx to come out here that he needs to talk with her. Ok the receptionist says I will page her. You can have a seat till she gets here. They go sit down on a sofa just waiting. Rebecca starts to tremble and cry and she lays her head on Horatio's shoulder and he says to her its okay and he wipes away her tears with a tissue. they are just sitting there and Alexx runs to Horatio and says hi and asks what is he doing here? Well this is Rebecca Smith and she needs a rape kit done asap! Can you do it for me Alexx? Alexx replies of course Horatio for you consider it done. Rebecca follows Alexx to a room and Rebecca asks can Horatio come and stay with me while you do this? Alexx says of course no problem at all. Rebecca says Thank you Alexx and Rebecca feels a little bit relieved that he will be with her while this is done. Ok Rebecca you need to take your clothes off and put this gown on and I will be right back with the kit and it will be over before you know it. Horatio steps out while Rebecca undresses.

Chapter 5

Rebecca comes out of the room and is ready to get out of there. She walks over to Alexx and Horatio and Alexx assures her that as soon as the results are back she will call Horatio. Rebecca says thanks Alexx. Alexx has an emergency and has to leave she says goodbye to Horatio and Rebecca. Then Horatio and Rebecca leave the Emergency Room and head out to th hummer. Rebecca asks so what is next? Well we have filed all the paperwork for the restraining order and nowit is time to pick up Jason Rauch and question him. But first, I will take you back to my house first because I don't want you any where around when we bring him in. Rebecca says that is fine because I don't want to be there either. Horatio and Rebecca walk out and get in the hummer and he takes her back to his house. It is all settled there should be an officer outside my front door at all times. So if you need something, just let him know. Rebecca turns her head and looks straight into his blue eyes and she says. You have done so much for me right now how can I pay you back for all that you have done for me. Horatio says you don't need to. It is my pleasure to do it for you. They get to his house and he pulls in the driveway and there is the officer standing outside the door. Horatio tells him make sure no one gets in the house not no one. Please keep yur eye on her at all times don't let her out of your sight. The officer says Yes Lt. I 'lll keep a very close watch on the house and her,Horatio says fine and Rebecca and Horatio go inside. He shows her around the house & where everything is. I've got plenty of food and drinks here for you so you won't starve. He laughs & she smiles back at him. Wel I am going tohave to leave you here with the officer while I go track down this Jason guy. Will you be okay? Rebecca tries to be brave but she can't, she starts to cry again & tremble and Horatio approaches her & gives her the biggest hug.Call my cell ok.

Chapter 6

Before Horatio leaves he gives Rebecca his cell phone number in case she needs him for any reason.Ok my cell phone number is 305-789-2422.If you need anything at all do not hesitate to call my cell.Rebecca says ok & writes it down. Horatio is about to leave & Rebecca starts to cry again I'm sorry I am so upset its just that I feel like he may be watching me.Horatio turns around & goes over to her & hugs her really tight & they both don't want to let go. Horatio says I can assure you he is not going to hurt ever again. I'll make sure of it. Rebecca, he says it is going to be all right as long as you stay here at my house. He is not going to hurt you. Horatio says well I do have to leave & try and pick him up for questioning & the restraining order is in effect so don't you worry about anything. I will take it from here. Rebecca says ok thanks Horatio you have done so much for me.Horatio says I know.He says goodbye to her & leaves.Horatio heads back to the office and goes to his office.Eric comes in & says he has the address it is 2038 NW 5th Place, Miami, Florida 33127. Eric says I have all ready gotten the search warrant too. Horatio says ok lets get him Eric.They both leave & get in the hummer and take off What is the apartment number Eric?710, Ok then we are almost there.They drive a little further & they find the apartment building. They get out of the hummer & with guns in their hands,they head up to the 7th floor. Once on the 7th floor they go to room 710 & they stand at the door & knock Miami Dade PD open up, Horatio knocks again & still no answer.Horatio kicks down the door & the both go in & search the place.They find Jason on the living room couch asleep. Horatio yells wake up Jason now!He wakes up & asks what the hell is going on?Son I'll tell you what is going on, you are under arrest.Jason says what for.

Chapter 7

Horatio yells get up you are under arrest for raping a woman and beating her up. Horatio yanks him up on his feet and Eric puts the handcuffs on him as Frank comes in and gets him and takes him into the police car and goes to mdpd with him. They get back to the station and puts Jason in an interrogation room. Horatio comes in and slams the door. Jason is just sitting there and says I didn't kill any one and I didn't do what you are accusing me of? Horatio sits down across from him and slam his fist on the table. Ok Horatio says you are accused of beating up another woman and raping her. What have you got to say for yourself. Jason says I didn't do neither one. If I give you the name of the woman would that make you remember what you did. Well what is this womans name you keep tossing around says Jason. Ok I'll give you the name, her name is Rebecca Smith does that ring a bell by any chance. Horatio is getting madder and madder. He pulls Jason to his feet now are you going to tell me you don't her or ever heard of her. Jason is trembling and hesistant.. Horatio gets in his face and yells Do you knw this woman named RebeccaSmith? Horatio grabs him by the neck and shakes him. Jason says ok ok I do know her name she was my girlfriend. Horatio saysok now did you beat her up and did you rape her too? Jason say I want a lawyer now! Horatio says ok I will get you a laywer but answer my question first did you rape her and beat her up? Jason say yes I did and I did both she deserved it. Horatio takes him by the collar and slams him across the room and says no woman deserves that kind of treatment. And now you are going to pay for it! You my friend are under arrest Frank take him and get him out of my sight before I do something that I will regret. Frank takes him out and books him for rape and for the beatings. Well, Horatio thinks well we got em Rebecca he says to himself. Horatio's phone rings and it is Rebecca, well Horatio did you find him?

Chapter 8

Rebecca called Horatio on his cell phone well she said did you find Jason yet? Hortio says yes we sure did,we brought him in for questioning and he finally did admit that he was beating you and that he did rape you. Rebecca starts to cry oh Horatio I don't know what would have happened had you not found me on the top of that building. I am very glad that now he is off the streets and can't hurt me anymore. Your the best Horatio! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Horatio say its' okay I told you I would take care of it and I promised you I would get to the bottom of all this. Yeah I know, um Horatio I was here in the house and I got really nausea for a long time and well I threw up in the bathroom. I found some stuff in your house and I cleaned it all up. I am so sorry I don't know why I feel this way all sick to my stomach. I tried to eat something but it came back up.I really don't know what this stuff is. When are you coming home? Horatio says I'm leaving here in a couple of minutes and then I will be home.Okay she says if you don't see me I'm probably in the bathroom again! Horatio laughs I know I understand. Horatio asks her will you be my date tonight? Rebecca sure I would love to. Well when I get done here I will come pick you up and I'll take you to a nice Italian restaurant okay.Yes that is fine Horatio. Ok I will see you in a half hour, I have to talk to Alexx first. She wanted me to do something for her and I promised her I would. Okay I'll be waiting here for you! Horatio says goodbye to her but deep in his heart he is having some strong feelings for Rebecca. Horatio leaves the office and goes to see Alexx he asks for her and they said she is here and they go get her. Alexx walks over to Horatio what is wrong Horatio? IDid the reults come back yet from the rape kit? Alexx says I just got them on my desk let me go get them, she gets them and she reads the report.I was right she is definetly pregnant.

Chapter 9

Horatio is in shock as to what Alexx told him about Rebecca being pregnant & now Rebecca is getting morning sickness already.Alexx tells him about report of the bruises she had on her. She was definetly abused by her boyfriend Jason Horatio says.He also tells Alexx that the boyfriend isall ready in jail because they were able to get him to admit to doing all this.Alexx tells him are gonna have to break it to her that she is pregnant by this guy.It does have to be her decision as to what she wants to do. Thanks Alexx I guess I better get going because I promised her that we were going on a date tonight. I would not tell her at the restaurant,you need to have this talk with her when you go home tonight.She is really gonna a rough time with this news that I will have to break it to her. thanks for everything Alexx, you have been a great help. Horatio leaves & is sad & stunned thinks to himself how is he gonna tell her that she is pregnant due to a rape. Horatio calls Rebecca from his cell phone&she answers & says I will have to have a talk with you when I get home,this is very important,it is gonna change your whole life. Ok she says.see you when I get homeHe sees Rebecca crying walks over to her & takes her in his arms,consoles her He holds her tight doesn't want to let go and neither does she. Horatio tells her I need to tell you the results of the rape kit and the bruisings.C'mon lets go sit on the couch he gives her a tissues so she can wipe the tears away.The rape kits results came back and that you are pregnant.Rebecca screams & cries all over again me pregnant oh can that be? Horatio takes her in his arms and holds her and gives her a kiss and she kisses him back. Lets go get something to eat I promised you a date tonight and I always keep my promises

Chapter 10

Rebecca still keeps crying oh Horatio what am I going to do? I'm pregnant and I have no where to go and how am I going to raise a child that was due to a rape incident. Horatio says to her well we can get your stuff from the apartment where Jason was and you could leave it here in my garage if you like. But where am I going to stay? Horatio says you will stay here until you can find a place. I told you my house is your house. I know but I feel like I'm taking advantage of you. No you are not says Horatio. I have a big enough house here it is not a problem to me.Oh Horatio you have been so good to me how can I ever repay you for all that you have done! You don't owe me anything. I'd love for you to stay here as long as you want to. Thank you so much Horatio! She cuddles closer to him and lays her head on his shoulder. He puts his arm around her and they cuddle together. You know Rebecca that day you were on the roof was the first day I laid eyes on you, I feel in love with you. Rebecca says when you got me down to mdpd and you were in the room with me consoling me when I was upset and trying to tell you the story I started to fall in love with you too. Oh Rebecca, I do love you and I know you love me too. How about we go get some dinner because I'm starving and I know you must be too! Horatio says lets go and get some dinner okay? Rebecca says sure take me anywhere you want to, I am flexible. the both get up and holding hands go get into the hummer and he takes off for the restaurant. As Horatio is driving he takes her hand and she takes his and she squeezes his too. they hold hands till they get to the restaurant. They pull in the parking lot and get out hand in hand and go into the restaurant. The hostess comes up to them and asks where would you like to be seated. Horatio says we'd like a table in the far corner for some privacy.They go sit down and Horatio asks her what she wants for a drink. they both get the red wine to celebrate.

Chapter 11

They get their wine and Horatio pours a glass for both of them. He says as he raises his glass and says to us may we have the best time of our lives and to your baby and that we put Jason in jail where he belongs. they clink their glasses and drink some. Rebecca this is some good wine I really like it. Horatio says glad you like it. It will probably be the last time you have some wine till your baby gets here. The waiter comes over and asks what they would like to eat. Rebecca says I will take a salad with Italian dressing and some garlic bread. Horatio says I would like a salad with Italian dressing and also some garlic bread too. Ok, sir I'll put this in and it should be here shorty. Horatio says ok.I know you are probably very upset about this that you are pregnant, you do want to keep the baby don't you? Of course I do, even though it was thru a rape it's a baby and I want to raise it and not kill it. Horatio puts his hands on hers and says we will raise it together and I will treat it as if it was my own. Rebecca starts to cry, I'm so sorry I keep doing this but you have been wonderful to me, I mean you didn't know me from adam and now you want be there for me and be the baby's father. That is so sweet. Well I guess that is why I was so sick earlier today. I'll probably be getting morning sickness for awhile. Do you have any children? Yes, I do a son who is in the army in Afganistan right now I didn't know I even had a son till several years ago. I had my suspions but when I did a dna on the both of us it was a match. We are really close and his mother is in a mental hospital right now. That relationship was serious to me but she wasn't. I have total custody of him now his name is Kyle Harmon Caine. The waiter brings their food and they start to eat. Once they have finished, Horatio asks for the check and they leave hand in hand. They get into the hummer and go back home. They get home and start to relax.

Chapter 12

After they get home, they sit down and relax and talk. Horatio says Rebecca I am definetly falling in love with you even though I am somewhat older than you but that really doesn't matter. Rebecca turns to him and says I love you too and it doesn't matter to me either. It is how we feel about each other. They turn and face each other and Horatio lifts her chin and kisses her and she is relaxed and goes with his kiss and they kiss passionately. If I am going too fast, please let me know I want you to be comfortable with this and I don't want you to feel I am rushing you in any way. Rebecca says its ok I feel the same way about you. They hold onto to each other and embrace not wanting to let go at all and just staying in each others arms forever. You are so beautiful Rebecca, I still can't imagine anyone wanting to beat you up and then on top of that raping you like that. It was inexcusable for him to do that to you. No man should ever lay a hand on you ever. I will protect you forever.Rebecca asks Horatio will I have to go to his trial when it comes up. Horatio hesitates and then says yes you will have to and answer some questions so we can put him away for good.I will be with you during that whole process so don't worry about that. Horatio I'm gonna be scared when it comes to that because I know how he is going to act he will try and manipulate me when I get on the stand Horatio don't worry about you will be fine. I'll keep and eye on him when the time comes.Oh you are so sweet and compassionate, that's why I fell in love with you. Horatio takes Rebecca in his arms and kisses her again very pasionately and they are all over each other hugging and kissing. She lays her head on his chest and starts to fall asleep.He takes her to her room and lays her on the bed so she can get some rest from all the drama that has happened within the last few days.He shuts her door and walks over to his bedroom and shuts the door.

Chapter 13

The alarm goes off in Horatio's bedroom at 5:30am. He looks over and turns the alarm off. He gets up and goes and takes a shower and gets ready for work. He goes into the kitchen and makes some coffee so he can wake up enough to head to the office. He goes into Rebecca's room and grabs a chair and just sits there looking at her sleep so soundly. He really doesn't want to leave her alone but there is an officer outside the door to keep an eye on her. He strokes her hair and it is so soft as she lays there. He goes over to her and kisses her on the head and cheek and she stirs looking up at him. Rebecca I have to leave to go to work. I just want to kiss you goodbye before I leave for work. Oh she says, Horatio have a good day at work. I love you very much Horatio. He says I know I love you too! When I get back later we will go over to the apartment and get all your belongings so you will never have to step in that apartment again, I know it has bad memories for you. I want you to take it easy today okay? Sure Horatio I will always do what you ask me to do. Horatio smiles at her I know you do. Well I have to go he gives her a passionate kiss and leaves. Remember if you need me i'm just a call away. Ok she says and she falls back to sleep. He goes out and leaves and shuts the door behind him. A little while later Rebecca rushes up and goes to the bathroom and throws up again. Rebecca thinks is this what it is going to be like for the next 9 months. She goes and pours herself a cup of coffee and sits down in the living room on the couch and watches some TV. She actually is getting excited about the baby and she is glad that Horatio wants to raise it with her. She thinks he would make an excellent father. He is so caring and compassionate and kind and he loves children. She gets up and looks out the window and sees how much a beautiful day it is. She thinks I could get used to living here in this big house with Horatio and the baby in it. She smiles!

Chapter 14

Rebecca is sitting down on the couch when her cell phone rings, she answers it Hi says Horatio you doing anything at the moment. She answers no.How would you like to have lunch with me today?Then after that we can go to the apartment get your stuff before someone else does. Ok she says.Can you be ready in 15 minutes?Yeah sure Horatio I would love that.Ok I will pick you up in 15 minutes or less.Great I will see then. Horatio says I love you Rebecca she replies I love you too Horatio. Horatio hangs up goes to his office gets his jacket tells Eric he is going to lunch with Rebecca& then picking up all her stuff at the apartment.Eric asks do you need help at the apartment?Yes, I could use some help but I'm having lunch first with Rebecca I will call you when we head over there. Eric smiles and says ok. Eric says it looks to me like you have really fallen for her.Horatio says yes more than you know. Eric laughs I could tell by the way you & Rebecca were looking at each other. Horatiosays I'm sorry but I think I am falling in love with her & I never thought I would fall in love with anyone since Marisol, but Eric life goes on and I have to move on with it.i understand H all to well. You have my blessing H. Eric walks out. Horatio is happy now that he had this talk with Eric & he approves.Horatio gets his coat and leaves to get Rebecca.Horatio drives up to his house & goes up the steps into the house.There is Rebecca waiting for him. Rebecca says I am really looking forward to lunch today with you. Horatio says I am too! Horatio walks over to her & grabs her & hugs her & he kisses her passionately & she returns the favor. Oh Rebecca I love you so much.I thought I could never love anyone again not since my wife was shot & killed.Rebecca says I love you too Horatio you have been so good to me & helped me out since the beginning of all this.I can't thank you enough.They walk out hand in hand.

Chapter 15

Horatio & Rebecca drive to the restaurant which is called Casa Grande a Mexican restaurant which is Rebecca's favorite While driving, Horatio takes Rebecca's hand & holds it tight. I really do love you Rebecca with all my heart.Rebecca smiles back I really love you too,Horatio & that will never change even though i am having a baby it's not gonna change my love for you. Horatio smiles with those wonderful blue eyes, he says no its not gonna my love for you either in fact it will make us both stronger as a couple.Rebecca leans & puts her head on his shoulder.Rebecca tells him I want you to be the father of my baby,cuz the baby really has no father. Horatio turns & looks at her, I want to be your baby's father, it would be an honor for me.Thanks,Horatio it will mean the world to me.They reach the restaurant & he lets her out at the entrance while he parks the hummer.She waits for him.
He comes over to her and takes her hand in his & they go into the restaurant.The waiter seats them down in a corner away from the crowd.The waiter asks what would you like to drink, Horatio says I think we need to celebrate can I get one of your best red wines& 2 glasses please. Yes the waiter says & goes and gets them.This will probably be your last alcohlic drink Rebecca because you can't drink it when you are pregnant.Yes I know.She smiles & is so happy right now. The waiter comes back with the wine & glasses & Horatio takes both & pours them a glass.He doesn't fill Rebecca very high.He wants to make sure that Rebecca's pregnancy goes well.They take their drinks & raise the glasses & Horatio does a toast Horatio: to us, your baby & to the future of our relationshipThey each take a small sip together.The waiter comes by what can I get you two to eat.Rebecca says a taco salad with sour cream & refried beans.Horatio says I'llhave the burrito with a salad & refried beans

Chapter 16

They ordered their food & they are waiting for it.Horatio says I need to ask you something & he get up out of his chair & goes to where she is sitting.He takes her hand & kneels on one knee and asks her Will you marry me, Rebecca.She is shocked beyond belief doesn't know what to say to say.She says yes.I will Iove you forever & ever.He pulls out a small box and opens it in front of her & it is a diamond ring.He places the ring on her left finger & he says you are my whole life & I want you to have my children.Rebecca gets upset & starts to cry but it is happy tears.I love you very much.Horatio gets up and wipes away her tears but they are happy ones. He gives her a passionate kiss & she does too.The waiter comes back with their food.They both sit down & start to eat I'm not trying to push this on you Rebecca but any idea when you want to get married.Well definetly before the baby gets here.Well how about a month from now would that be okay. Yes fine and I want to get married in a Catholic church since this is your 1st marriage. First of all, Horatio says Eric will be my best man. What about your maid of honor? I want Calleigh to be my maid of honor. Who else do you want in the wedding party? Well as far as women it would be Natalia Alexx & my coworker Janice Jones.Well it would be Frank Tripp, Ryan Wolfe,& Walter Simmons.Well we better finish up because we got to get your stuff from the apartment .They finished their food & Horatio goes & pays the bill.Horatio says let me call Eric so he can meet us there. Okay they leave & they get to the apartment and go to #710. What can I help you with? Rebecca tells Eric what she wants & then put it to the side. So she is going thru everything & Eric helps her They are done. Ok Eric we have an annoucement to make I proposed to Rebecca & he shows Eric the ring & he says nice ring.Horatio asks will you be my best man & Eric says yes.

Chapter 17

Horatio & Rebecca get into the hummer & Eric follows them to Horatio's house. They unload all her stuff in the house so she can go through it to see what she wants to keep or get rid of.She takes all her clothes & puts it in the spare room in the closet.The rest of the stuff is going into Horatio's garage temporarily til it can be gone thru so Rebecca can decide whether to keep it or not. Eric has been helping both Horatio & Rebecca put some of the stuff away.Once they are all done, they take a break & have something to drink. Rebecca gets an ice water & what do you want Eric & Horatio? Eric says I will take some Iced tea & Horatio takes an ice water.They are both sitting talking about what Horatio & Rebecca want at their wedding.Well Rebecca says I have to find a church first. Do you know any churches in the area Horatio? Not really but Rebecca looks in the phone book for one close by the house.Well here is one it's not that close to the house but it will do, St.Josephs Catholic Church 8625 Byron Ave. Miami Beach, Florida 33141. Then you & I need to go there set a date & see what is available . This is exciting Horatio! I know you look so happy darling! We can have the reception at the church too, they usually have a big room for you to have one.Ok tomorrow we will go there & see what dates they have available. Eric says well I will let you two get down to business & I'll see you tomorrow at work. Yeah Eric, thanks for all your help.OK take care H see you tomorrow. So how are you feeling tonight Rebecca? Ok I guess I got sick twice in the bathroom this morning before you got here.This morning sickness stinks I hope I don't have it the entire pregnancy. Horatio says I don't think it stays around for 9 months maybe 3 or 4 but not the full length of your pregnancy.I've been thinking about a date for the wedding. What about March26th? It would be a month away exactly. Horatio says its fine!

Chapter 18

Rebecca asks Horatio I hope you don't think I am moving too fast with the wedding it is just that I don't want to wait longer than a month because i will probably be showing after a month or more.You do still want to marry me don't you?Horatio replies you are not moving too fast with the wedding plans, if we could I would do it sooner you know that. I love you so very much Rebecca. I can't wait. What time is it? It's 3pm, why? Horatio says why don't we go over to the church now find out what dates they have available for us for a wedding? Would you like that?Yes you know I would.Ok then lets go! He grabs her hand & leads her out the door & into the hummer.You got the address Rebecca yes Horatio I do it is.....Ok I've put it in the GPS so we don't get lost. She gets the book with wedding dates in it for the next month or so. We have several openings,what date are you looking for?None in particular what do have available.Well how about March 19th. Do we have to meet with the priest that would be doing the wedding?Yes, let me see who is available. Ok Reverend John Vaughan will be able to do the service but you would have to meet with him.How about 3pm on Thursday? Thank you! We will be needing a hall for the reception. Chapter 19

After telling his team about their engagement & future wedding.Horatio asks Rebecca when do you want to pick out your wedding dress?I suppose as soon as possible.Okay, Horatio drivesdownthe road& goes into a dealership &takes Rebecca with him.Rebecca is wondering what Horatio is up to. He tells her to go look around at the SUV's & wantsher to pick one she really likes.Rebecca is amazed at all the different ones.Rebecca says are you buying me a new car?Horatio smiles & says yes becauseyouneed one that you can get around in especially after the baby is born.Take your time &look around.I want you to be happy with the one that you pick out. Shelooks around &then she sees one. It is a 2011Acura MDX it is a silver one.She takes a look inside &it looks great.Horatio looks at it on the inside. Horatio thinks to himself this would be perfect for her, lots of room and its got everything in it. So Rebecca what do you think? Rebecca replies I would like to pick this one. Horatio smiles ok lets make a deal with the salesman for this one.A salesman walks over to them&asks can I help you? Horatio says yes you can. We would like to buy this one here. Okay let me tell you the price on this one. It is 25,000. Horatiois not happy he wants to pay a lower price.Can we negotiate a lower price? Ok, 24,000.Ok I will take it.The salesman writes up all the paperwork&the salesman gets everything readyfor Horatio to sign off on the car.I will be paying it up front. Ok, Horatio signs the paperwork &he is given the keys to it &then hands the keys to Rebecca.You mean it's mine now, he says yes it is!Oh Horatio I love you so much thanks for the car. He says this is his engagement present to you.She is estatic beyond wordsThe salesman has the car prepped and ready to go.It is now ready to be taken & Rebecca gets the keys&they walk out the door.They walk out hand in hand and Rebecca gets in it & follows him home.

Chapter 20

Horatio & Rebecca are at the house. It is really nice. You really didn't have to do this but I am glad you did! It was such a thoughtful gift! I love you so much for taking care of me & watching out for me. Horatio comes over to Rebecca & takes her in his arms & kisses her so passionately & she returns the favor to him kisses him too.Horatio says to her I can't wait till the wedding day once you become my wife. I can have you all to myself. You have been through so much lately. I want to make you happy so much. I want to wait till we are married so I can make love to you and have sex with you after we are married. Rebeca says that is what I want too! I want it to be so perfect for us & you will be the father of my child & I want you to be the father of any other children that we may have in the future.Thank you for giving me the ok to look for my wedding dress but I would like to do that on my own with no one ith me. So tomorrow I will go looking for myself, I want to get the best dress so I will surprise you on our wedding day. Horatio says I will be looking forward to that more than you know. Rebecca you are so beautiful & I love you so much. Rebecca says I love you too so very much. They get up & Horatio takes her in his arms & just holds her so tight that he doesn't want to let her go ever. You are the love of my life no one can ever take your place. Horatio says are you hungry? Rebecca says yes lets go out & see what we can find Ok & they walk out the door & get & take off to get something to eat. He finds a nice little Italian restaurant & pull in & go inside & find a small table in a private area to talk. They sit down & get a menu to see what they want to eat. Rebecca says I will have the lasagna with a small salad wth Italian dressing & a glass of ice water. Horatio orders the baked spaghetti with a salad and Italian dressing .The waiter goes & gets their drinks.

Chapter 21

They get their drinks & the food Well lets eat.They are enjoying their meal together.I may let you have a drink or two on our wedding day but that's all for now.How are u feeling tonight?My stomach is doing ok no morning sickness except for this morning.I' m sure it will go away soon enough.Horatio I don't think I can eat anymore not feeling well at the moment,can we go back home?Horatio sounds concerned sure we can leave let me pay the check & we will **** thanks Horatio your the best!He comes back & takes Rebecca by the hand & they go out hand in hand & leave for home.They get home & Horatio lets Rebecca sit down for a bit to see if she feels better.She gets up & goes to the bathroom & throws up dinner.Oh God!Horatio asks are u okay?Yes, dinner came up!She gets done & comes out oh Horatio i feel so bad!He comes over to her & hugs her tight & won't let go & neither will she!They finally let go Horatio says I love you so much Rebeccca I hate to see you like this, I wish I could do something more for you.I love you too Horatio with all my heart & I am so looking foward to the wedding, it can't get here soon enough.They kiss each other so passionately!If I feel better in the morning I will go look at wedding dresses while you are at work.Horatio says that sounds good as long as you are feeling better.Yes,I think I am going to get ready for bed will you stay with me in my room till I fall asleep because I really need you right now,Horatio.Sure I will I want to make sure you go to sleep & have a goodnights sleep so you will feel better in the morning.She goes to her room & shuts the door & gets undressed. She comes out of the room & gets a glass of ice water.Horatio comes over to her are u all right?Yes so far but I need to goto bed will you stay with me in my room.They go into the room& she lays down & he sits on a chair& sits& watches her as she falls asleep.

Chapter 22

Horatio is still watching her sleep as he sits in the chair right next to her in bed.He feels bad that she has to go through this morning sickness which is not always in the morning. He just stares at her sleeping,she is in a deep sleep. He holds her hand and gives her a kiss on the cheek and wants to do so more for her but he is waiting till after they are married. He wants to do it the proper way but doesn't want to pressure her at all.She has been through so much with the beatings and the rape.he starts to feel tired too after a long day and goes ahead and gets ready for bed. He has to be up at 5:30am to go to work and his cases are overloaded. He says goodnight to her one more time but she doesn't even stir, he will say goodbye to her when he leaves in the morning. Horatio says she is so beautiful and Ican't wait till our wedding day. He kisses her again on the cheek and forehead and heads back to his room where he lays down and falls asleep.The alarm goes off at 5:30am and he gets up and takes a shower and gets dressed. He makes himself a cup of coffee because it will be a long day. He checks on Rebecca and she is still asleep, he kisses her and she falls back to sleep. He leaves and goes out to work and leaves her sleeping. He leaves a note by her bed telling her how he feels. She sleeps till about 10am and reads the note he wrote her and she cries because she knows what he wrote and it is such a beautiful note that she will treasure forever. She gets some coffee and sits on the couch and tries to find a place to go to get a wedding dress.

Chapter 23

Rebecca is looking in the phone book & finds a bridal shop where she can go & find her wedding dress.She is so excited.Horatio gave her his credit card so she can purchase the dress of her dreams.She writes down the address & gets ready to leave when her cell phone goes off. Hello Rebecca oh hi Horatio.How are you feeling today? I'm feeling pretty good right about now.I'm just Oh ok well have fun & get the one you really want and surprise me,money is no object, you spend what you like. Rebecca i'm so glad you are in my life I never thought anyone would walk into my life the way you did.I never thought I could love anyone again!See you later!Thanks Horatio, I just can't say it enough I love you too always.They hang up & Rebecca goes& leaves.She pulls into the shop& gets out and goes inside.She is greeted by a woman how can I help you today?Well, I am looking for a wedding dress that I will need before March 19th(Satuday)Oh no problem why don't you look at these dresses over here Rebecca looks at all the dresses and they are so pretty she can't decide which one, so she gets 2 dresses & shows it to the sales lady & she helps her try them on.It is the first one she picked that she likes the most.She thinks to herself Horatio will love me in this dress, I would like to pick this one says Rebecca to the saleslady.I think you picked the right one you look so beautiful in this one.Now you will need a veil and some shoes.Ok I like those white shoes over there not much of a heel but that's okay. I'll take those. She tries on several veils & picks the one she wants. Well I think that is it for me so how much will this all be?The saleslady adds it all up & it will cost close to 1,000.00! its fine she gives her Horatio's credit card & rings up the sale.Ok mam it's all set! You can pick all this up on Friday okay?Thank You very much & Rebecca walks out.

Chapter 24

Rebecca calls Horatio & she is very excited,Horatio I got my dress for the wedding shoes & all that is needed.I am picking it up on Friday.Only problem is I don't know where to keep till the day of the wedding I don't want you to see it till I walk down the aisle.Would you be okay if i kept it in my room in the closet & I don't want you to go in there & peek at it.Horatio laughs you know I wouldn't do that to you,I want to be surprised when you walk down the aisle,you can keep in your closet. I promise I won't go in there & peek at it.You know me better than that I won't spoil the wedding Ok good!I knew there was a reason I wanted & said yes to you when you asked me to marry you.You are not that kinda of person that would do that to someone Will you be staying at eric's the night before cuz I don't want you to see me till I walk down the aisle.It has already been settled I am staying at Erics house.Do you need any of the bridesmaids to stay with you overnight at my house to help you get dressed the day of the wedding. Yes, Janice my co worker is staying with me. Ok say Horatio I think the girls are planning a shower and lingerie party for you don't know when yet. So how are you feeling today. Feeling pretty good no morning sickness yet.Will you be at work all day? No, not really i can leave her around 2pm if thats ok with you. Sure is I'm mising you already! Love you so much I can't wait for me to be you r wife & I know you can't wait to be husband.March 19th will be here before we know it. Chapter 25

Rebecca cell phone is ringing she had been sound asleep. She answers& say hello? Its Horatio how do you feel now? A little less tired. Yes I feel a whole lot better. Well I am on my way home & just wanted to check on you any morning sickness at all today. Uh just once before I laid down I got sick again, but after that I am fine. I am getting ready to leave the office so I will be there shortly. Sure that is fine says Rebecca I 'm getting up now to freshen up so I am anxiously awaiting your arrival. I love you so much Horatio I can't wait till you get home. I love you too Rebecca & can't wait to hold you in my arms and kiss you. You mean the world to me now & that is all I care about is keeping you safe. Thanks Horatio. I Love you see you when you get home. Okay babe I'll be there as soon as possible. He pulls out of the parking lot & tries to race home to be with her. Rebecca goes in to the bathroom& fixes herself up so she will look good for Horatio. She sits down & watches some TV until he arrives. She hears him pull into the driveway & gets up & is ready & waiting for him to come in the door. He opens the door & they run to each other & hug each other so tightly they don't want to let go of each other.He takes her in his arms & kisses her so passionately & she returns the favor all the more.He wants so much to show her how much he loves her but resists till the wedding night which will be so special for both of them. They are so happy to see each other & they both sit on the couch. She puts her head on his shoulder & they cuddle together. She feels so secure in his arms. Rebecca asks when will Jason's trial be?Do I have to be there to testify I am sorry Rebecca but you will have to. I will be right there with you & you will do fine.I'll protect you & he can't get to you anymore. Ok she says & she is trembling & crying. Its okay Rebecca it will be fine.

Chapter 26

Horatio gently tells her that Jason's trial will be tomorrow at 2pm.Rebecca starts to cry on his shoulder uncontrollably.Horatio holds her so tight he doesn't want her to let her go.It will be okay sweetheart. I promise you that.He can't hurt you anymore.You will have to answer some questions and just be honest and tell the truth and it will all be done and you can go on with your life with me right by your side.I will pick you up at 12pm so you and the attorney can go over the questions you may be asked.I will be right by your side.He kisses her and holds her as she still is crying on his shoulder.Oh Horatio I am so sorry I brought you into this, I didn't mean to I am so afraid i will say the wrong thing.You have been the best thing in my life since you rescued me at the building. I fell in love with you that very same day.I do too when I tried to grab you and get you off the ledge that day.She feels so secure right now in his arms.So Horatio says what do you want to do next?jUst to be with you is all I want. Horatio says well it is about dinner time, do you want to go get something to eat cuz I think that is what you need right now.Ok that's is fine let me go freshen up and I will be ready to go. Horatio says ok I'll be waiting now don't stand me up on this date.She says I won't for sure.She comes out and Horatio is thinking she is so beautiful I can't wait till our wedding day.They go hand in hand out the door and get in the hummer and go the restaurant of choice.They get there and the waiter takes them to their favorite spot. Waiter ask what would you like to drink.Rebecca say I will have an iced water please and Horatio wants and Iced tea.Thank you sir, I'll be back to take your order.He comes back and Rebecca orders the big salad with chicken in it and Horatio orders the same thing. Ok be right back with your order.They talk for a while and then the food is here.They both dig in as they are very hungry.

Chapter 27

They are both done with their meal. Horatio goes and pays the bill. They leave the restaurant and Horatio heads for the house. Rebecca is still very nervous and upset because of Jason's trial. She grabs Horatio's hand and squeezes it tightly, she still can't hold back the tears. Horatio assures her everything will turn out fine and not to worry. They get to the house and go inside. Rebecca goes and sits down on the couch. Horatio follows her and sits next to her and consoles her. He takes her in his arms and holds her tight and doesn't want to let go of her ever.Oh Horatio I love you so much you are the best thing that has ever happened to me. Horatio smiles and looks at her and kisses her so passionately and she gives in and continues to kiss him too passionately. She lays her head on his shoulder and cries some and he consoles her. He wipes away her tears and tells her I love you so much too and I never thought I would fall in love again ever. They just stay on the couch and then Rebecca drifts off to sleep. He watches her as she sleeps and holds her tight for as long as he could.
He carries her to her room and gently places her on the bed and covers her up and kisses her and says goodnight. He leaves her room and shuts the door.Then he goes in his room and gets undressed and goes to bed. He just lays there thinking about her and then drifts off to sleep, because he knows he will have to be up at 5am to go to work so he can take time off for the trial.

Chapter 28

Horatio's alarms goes off at 5am.He slowly gets up and goes and takes a shower and gets ready for work. He gets a cup of coffee to help him wake up.He opens Rebecca's door to the room and looks in and she must have gotten up during the night and changed into a nightgown and went back to bed. She is still sound asleep she doesn't hear him come into her room. He just sits there and watches her sleep.He knows that this is gonna be a very hard day for her because she has to be at the trial and gets questioned. He doesn't want to leave her with her knowing he is leaving for work so he gently wakes her up and she looks up at him into those sexy blue eyes of his. Hi Horatio what time is it? It is about 6am and I am getting ready to leave for work.I just wanted to tell you that I am leaving and that I will call you on your cell when i leave the office so you can be ready.Rebecca says ok and gets teary eyed Horatio takes her into his arms and holds her so tight and they both don't want to let each other go.He gets some tissues for her and wipes away those tears. I am sorry Horatio I can't help it I'm so afraid while I am up on the stand that he will burst out at me and cuss me out or do something. Its okay Rebecca you will go over the questions with the lawyer and he will tell you what you need to say and you just need to be truthful and not let Jason get to you.Ok thanks your the greatest Horatio! Will you be sitting beside me before I go up to the stand?Of course I will if he tries anything or looks at you don't get upset I will take care of him if he tries anything. Well I have to go for now and he takes her in his arms and kisses her so passionately and she does the same not wanting him to go but she knows he has to.I promise you it will be all right you will see. He says goodbye and says I will see you here at 12pm.Ok she says! Why don't you go back to sleep for a little while before you have to be up. Ok she says I will try!

Chapter 29

Rebecca wakes back up around 10:30AM or so, and tries to get ready for the trial. Just thinking about it makes her cry, and Horatio hasn't arrived to pick her up yet. She tries to compose herself; it is still kind of early yet. Her cell phone rings. It is Horatio, and he asks, "Are you okay? Are you ready yet?" "Yeah I am, I'm ready to go" she replies. "I will be there shortly. Okay?" he replies. "Yeah" she says. He can hear in her voice that she is trembling somewhat, but doesn't say anything about it. "I love you Rebecca, it's gonna be okay." He hangs up, and rushes to his house because he knows things are not right with Rebecca. He gets there, rushes in the door, and takes Rebecca in his arms and hugs her so tightly that they don't want to let go of each other. He kisses her passionately; she is very willing and goes right back with him. They hold each other for the longest time, then release. Horatio says, "I love you so much, Rebecca. I cannot wait til our wedding day, and then you will be mine forever." She says the same thing to him. He asks, "Are you ready to go?" "Well not really, but I want to get this over with so I can move on from here" she replies. They walk out hand in hand to the Hummer, then drive to the courthouse. They arrive, and get out and head up the steps to the District Attorney's office. They walk into the office, and Horatio introduces Rebecca to the prosecutor, Assistant D.A. John Welborn. "Have a seat" John says. He goes over the questions that he will be asking her, and she responds quite well. He advises her that the defense attorney will be asking questions, but will try to trick her because he is working for Jason, the defendant. "He is going to try to do everything he can to make it look like it is your fault, so be careful" he says. "I think it will go fine, though." It is now time to go into the courtroom, and Horatio and Rebecca go in and sit on the opposite side from where Jason will be. Rebecca is shaking again. Everybody comes in and sits down, and the trial starts. Both sides give their opening arguments, then Rebecca is called up to the stand.

Chapter 30

Rebecca gets ready to stand up & Horatio whispers to her it will all right you will do fine.She gets up and walks to the stand, meanwhile Jason gives the evil eye but doesn't say anything. She sits down & Jason's attorney walks over to her and starts asking her questions. She is doing ok so far then he starts with the hard questions & is trying to trick her.She is trying to answer as best she could but can't help it & starts getting really upset & starts trembling,her lawyer starts to object to why these questions are being asked.The judge says enough please keep your questions to what is pertinent to this trial & nothing more or I will hold you in comtempt.Rebecca is scared& started to cry so some one gives her some tissues as she tries to calm down.Horatio is getting really mad at Jason's lawyer & wants to go over to him & beat him up but he knows he can't.He is frustrated & fearful for Rebecca. The other lawyer goes on & tries to tell Rebecca that she wasn't raped but that she wanted it so its not rape. Again,the lawyer objects and Horatio is really getting pissed, Rebecca is all upset again.The judge says enough no more questions.So Rebecca's lawyer gets up & asks her some questions & Jason stands up & yells at Rebecca "You wanted it and you know it now your changing your story"Horatio gets up & tries to get over to Jason but they stop him. Jason is taken out of the courtroom screaming at Rebecca.The judge is mad & tells Rebecca to go sit down.Both lawyers present their cases to the jury. Rebecca sits back down next to Horatio and cries on his shoulder.He puts his arm around her to console & says I am sorry about this!They are waiting, then the jury comes back they bring Jason back in again.The judge asks what are your findings?They say Jason is guilty on all counts! Horatio thanks the lawyer for all his help and they both leave for home.

Chapter 31

Horatio & Rebecca leave the courthouse and go home.Rebecca is still so relieved everything went the way it did.She puts her head on Horatio's shoulder as he drives home.Horatio tells Rebecca he is so very sorry about getting upset & trying to get to Jason and his lawyer in the courtroom but he was trying to protect her and was just very mad the ways things went down but assuresher that it is all over & we both can get on with our lives.Rebecca is relieved and is glad now it is over and that it is time to concentrate on the wedding plans.They get home and Horatio rushes around to Recbecca's side and lifts her out of the hummer.They both walk in the house hand and hand and collapse on the couch. They are next to each other and Horatio turns to Rebecca and kisses her so passionately and she goes with him and gives in to the kiss and gives it back to him.Horatio says I so wish we could go further with this but I don't want to ruin the wedding night, I want you to be able to enjoy our wedding night together & its coming up sooner than we think.They both lay on the couch together cuddled up in each others arms.Rebecca,he says I love you so much & I want you to be happy with us being together all the time.Rebecca says I love you too so much & I want to be with you forever, you have given yourself and taken care of her so much since we met.I just can't thank you enough.Horatio says do we still have a date night tonight?She says sure would not miss it for the world.Surprise me tonight!Oh I will.Rebecca says let me go wash up & get ready just give me a few minutes. He says ok sure I will wait for you.Rebecca goes into the bathroom to freshen up a bit because she wants to look good for him always.She comes out and he says you look beautiful Rebecca, I love you, lets go and they go out hand in hand to the hummer and take off. Where she goes she does not know.Rebecca lays her head on his shoulder as they drive to the restaurant.

Chapter 32

Horato & Rebecca go out on a dinner date and he doesn't tell her where they are going. She is feeling good inside and excited. She places her hand on his while he is driving. I love you Rebecca so much Saturday will be here very soon, I hope you are excited as I am,yes Rebecca says I am too! They pull into a nice Chinese restaurant named PF Changs.He opens the door for her and then they go inside. H asks for a table way in the back away from the crowd. The hostess shows them the table and the sit down.Can I get you anything to drink? Yes, H says an Iced tea and Rebecca gets an Iced Water. I will be back with your drinks and take your order.They look over the menu and H suggests to Rebecca the spicy Chicken dinner with rice. How does that sound to you, sounds great. I like spicy foods every now and then.Ok, the waiter comes back and H gives the order to him. He says coming right up. So they take a sip of their drinks and talk about the wedding plans. I think the girls are planning a shower & lingerie party on Thursday and Friday will be the rehearsal dinner after the rehearsal dinner and party will be at the church in the family room after the dinner the men are giving me a bachelor part so after that.I may not see you till the wedding day but I will call you later that evening on your cell,don't tellanyone, then I will see you at the church on Saturday at 2pm.I want to make this whole thing for you and want you to enjoy yourself you only get married once so have fun with it. They receive their dinners and start to eat.Rebecca says this is so wonderful I am so enjoying this with you. I love you so much Horatio! Horatio says I love you too very much! He reaches over and takes her hand and kisses it. Thank you for a lovely date night, I really enjoyed it! They get done and he pays the check and they go home.

Chapter 33

Horatio & Rebecca get home from their date night. They go sit on the couch and talk about the upcoming wedding plans. Don't forget about your shower and lingerie party tomorrow evening. It's supposed to be a surprise - - Calleigh,Natalia,Alexx,Janice have it all planned to be at the church in their family room. They will probably call you tomorrow sometime. I will be going to my bachelor party which is being held somewhere I don't even know. I want both of us to have a good time at each of the parties so I want you to relax and have a good time. After the rehearsal and dinner, I'm gonna have to leave you at the house and I will stay at Eric's house. It's gonna be tuff with us not being together but just think after the wedding you will be mine forever. I will never ever leave you again. Oh H, I love you so much, can't wait til Saturday when I marry the man of my dreams. I never thought this would ever happen and I have you to thank for that. If you had not rescued me, I probably would not be here with you now. They turn to each other and smile at each other and Horatio takes Rebecca in his arms and kisses her so passionately and she goes with it and kisses him passsionately too. They are in each others arms kissing and hugging each other. Oh Rebecca I don't want to let you go. I want to stay just like this all night. Rebecca says I do too. She puts her head on his chest and shoulder and just lays there with him. It is getting late and Horatio says I think we need to go to bed. I have to be up again at 5am, I will stay with you til you fall asleep and then I will head to bed and say goodbye before I leave. Thanks H, I was gonna ask if you could stay with me til i go to sleep. Uh-oh I have to head to the bathroom, I'm getting sick again. Darn this morning sickness. H gets ready for bed and stays in her room until she comes out of the bathroom. She comes out later and gets in bed & H stays with her til she falls asleep.

Chapter 34

Horatio gets up after the alarm goes off and he showers and gets dressed and gets himself a cup of coffee to help him start the day off.It'sThursday and both Him &Rebecca have parties to go to for tonight,Shower for her&Bachelor party for him.He sits down & is watching her sleep.He takes his hand &goes & puts his hand to her nice blonde hair and she sees him.Yes,my darling it's time for me to go to work and I wanted to say goodbye and kiss you too.You can go back to sleep after I leave. I will see you later when I get home I will be getting off early for the bachelor party and you have your shower/lingerie party tonight too.I will see you later,Rebecca I love you soo much Saturday will be here sooner than you think.He kisses her goodbye and gets up and leaves but goes back to her and gives her a hug and doesn't want to let go. Rebecca is waiting for him to come home to pick her up for lunch.He pulls in the driveway & gets out and comes in the house.They run to each other & hug each each other & holdS on,not wanting to let go of each other & just locked in each others arms. H says ok we better go since we both will be busy tonight away from each other, oh Rebecca I love you so much I can't wait till Saturday & you will become my wife forever, Horatio I can't wait either till i am your wife so I can take care of you&be with you forever.They go in the hummer & leave & H doesn't say where they are going its a surprise.H is driving and they find a nice place where they can eat outside.They find a nice table outside in the corner& order their drinks.Then they order their lunch and they both have big salads with their favorite dressing.They eat & are just enjoying each others company.Once they done with their food,Horatio gives Rebecca a long thin box and presents it to her.Horatio what is this?My gift to you because you are so special to me. She opens it up it is diamond necklace,I want you to wear this on the day of our wedding.I got this for you to show my love for you.Oh Horatio,This is so beautiful & so sweet of you I love you so much and she starts to cry.Horatio comes over to her and hugs and kisses her.He gets a tissue & gently wipes away her tears. Chapter 36

Horatio wakes up & gets up and takes a shower and gets some coffee. He goes into her room and see her still sleeping.He pulls up a chair & just watches her sleep. She arouses a bit & realizes he is sitting next to her on the bed.Oh,Horatio is everything okay? that is what I was going to ask you?Are you feeling better?Yes, a little better,I am sorry I had to get to bed early on you but I was feeling so bad.H says its okay I understand I just want to make sure you are okay.She sits up and H goes over to her and sits on the bed with her and takes her in his arms and kisses her so passionately and hugs her so tight he doesn't want to let her go & neither does she.I am going in to work early so I can pick you up at 3:30pm to go to the church to be there by 4pm for the rehearsal then the dinner afterwards.That fine she says.I think I will take it easy most of the day till you get here to pick me up.Yes says H that is a good idea especially with all this morning sickness you are going thru, I want you to feel better for later and the dinner.I hope you will be all right for the wedding tomorrow, I am so looking forward to it.Me too,she says.Well let me kiss you goodbye so I can get to work.I will see you around 3:30pm if you need me for anything call my cell.She says fine I love you so much Horatio & can't wait till we can be together tomorrow & tomorrow night. Me too, he says.Take care of yourself & relax.He kisses her & walks out the door.She starts to cry again cuz she misses him so much.She lays back down and goes back to sleep & sets her alarm for 12pm so she can get a shower & get dressed for tonight.She gets up after the alarm goes off & goes and takes a shower.Her cell phone rings but she can't hear it.It was H,he leaves for home because he is worried that she didn't answer her phone.

Chapter 37

Rebecca is in her room with the door closed and she hears a door open up she is scared now & afraid to come out of her room, cuz Horatio isn't due here yet. Then she hears Horatio saying Rebecca where are you all right?Its me Horatio!She slowly opens the door,Horatio I wasn't expecting you this soon. I tried calling your cell & got no answer I thought something was wrong.Oh, I was in the shower earlier & probably didn't hear it go off.Are you all right I thought maybe you got real sick or something. Horatio goes over to her & kisses her & hugs her tightly.I'm sorry I just panicked. Its ok no worries here.I'm already dressed up for tonight & I'm ready to get this show on the road aren't you? Oh you know it Rebecca,what time is it? Its about 3:00pm well the rehearsal starts at 4pm maybe we should get there early to check that everything is all set up. Sounds like a good idea to me lets go and he grabs her hand & they leave for the church. They get there & no one is there yet so they have some time for themselves & check things out. OhHoratio, this is so beautiful. Everything is right in its place the flowers and the candles and omg the wedding of my dreams is about to come true.They go to where they will be saying there own vows & just stand & turn to each other &practice.Rebecca is trying hard to keep herself together but she starts to cry.Hey,H says its ok don't cry babe it will be all right,you will get thru it,yeah I know I just never thought my dream is about to come true.Well it is & we should be both thankful for it what if we hadn't met.Where would you be now?I know,i think I hear people coming in,I guess we should go sit down,I'm feeling like my stomach is bothering me again but I will be okay.She sits down while the bridal party are arriving now,calleigh,walter,eric,natalia,frank,alexx, janice,ryan& the wedding director & the priest.Eveyone gets in place.

Chapter 38

They rehearse the wedding from beginning to end and it all went well.Rebecca and Horatio are very pleased how it all went well.Everybody is just standing around talking and Rebecca excuses herself and has to go to the womens bathroom.Horatio gets concerned and asks Calleigh to go with her.Rebecca & Calleigh walk to the restroom together.Calleigh asks her are you okay?I'm not sure I feel real sick to my stomach and feel extremely nausea.She goes into the bathroom and Calleigh follows her in. She goes into one of the stalls and throw up again and Calleigh ask her are you all right do you need some help?Rebecca says no I will be okay its just this morning sickness is really taking its toll on me I wish it was all over already.She comes out of the stall and washes up and straightens out herself to go back to Horatio.They walk in and Horatio rushes to her side are you all right?Yes, I'm fine now just this so called morning sickness is really taking its toll on me.But I do feel better now.Ok say Horatio everybody lets go to the restaurant and enjoy the dinner.Everybody leaves and sout to the restaurant.They all go in and sit down.Everybody gets their drinks and Eric stands up and gives a little speech about Horatio & Rebecca.What a wonderful speech Rebecca thinks! Horatio gets up and thanks Eric for what he said and they toast to the soon to be married couple.Horatio sits back down and he holds Rebecca's hand and whispers something to her.They both smile at each other and everybody has their food and his enjoying themselves even Horatio and Rebecca are having a great time together.They all enjoy their dinner and dessert and are ready to leave for home for the big day tomorrow. H says he will meet Eric at his house in a little while.Eric says ok I will be there.Eric hugs Rebecca and says I'll take good care of H for you don't worry. She laughs and say I know you will.Horatio and Rebecca leave for home.So Horatio can pack up his stuff.

Chapter 39

They get home and Horatio goes to his room and starts to pack up his stuff for the night.Rebecca sits on the couch and starts to cry, she tries to be quiet without letting him know. He comes out of the room and puts his stuff by the front door.He sees she is crying again and goes and sits on the couch with her. What's wrong sweetheart?You okay? Yeah I'm ok just gonna miss you being here tonight! I know I'm gonna miss you too a lot.But it is just one night and after tomorow you and I will be together forever. Yes I know! And I wont change my feelings either .He goes to the door and says goodbye to her and kisses her goodbye.He leaves and shuts the door. Janice is coming out of Rebecca's room and asks are you okay?Yeah I just still miss him.I know but before you know it tomorrow will be here and then it will be all done.Why don't you get ready for bed and take a shower, I think is has been a long day for you and tomorrow will be even longer. Do you want to get dressed at the church or here? I think the church so I don't mess up the wedding gown. Ok that is fine. I will talk to the girls now and tell them to meet us at the church at 1pm.Why don't you get done I'll sleep in your bed and you sleep in Horatio's bed it will make you feel better ok.Yes, sure. Rebecca is all done and goes to bed and so does Janice.They set an alarm for 9am so they will be ready for leaving for the church by 1pm.Janice falls asleep right away but not Rebecca, she tosses and turns most of the night. Horatio is at Eric and they talk alot about Rebecca H says he can't get her out of her mind. They talk for awhile and Eric says you have to move on Marisol and start a new life together,I am very happy for you an Rebecca now lets get some sleep so they got to their respective places and fall asleep.

Chapter 40 (The wedding day)

Rebecca wakes up first its' not 9 yet so she gets up & gets some coffee going to wake her up.Janice gets up too & today's the day I am so happy Janice you have no idea.Janice say I know you do!We are all happy for you you will see.They talk for a while & Rebecca takes another shower she wants to smell so good for Horatio & please him so much.After that they are all dressed not in their gowns but some nice clothes.It is only 12pm but Rebecca is anxious to get to the church so Janice & her leave for the church & take their gowns & stuff & leave in Janice's car.They get there& they go & pick the room where they will get dressed & they sit there till the other bridesmaids get there.The wedding is at 3pm& it can't come soon enough for Rebecca.Janice tells her to stay in the room so she is not to go out side of it.Okay that fine says Rebecca.The rest of the bridesmaids arrive some are dressed and some are not.Rebecca starts to get ready while Calleigh helps her with her gown.They fix her hair and it looks beautiful.She is in her dress & looks in the mirror oh Horatio is gonna be blown away by this.I can't wait.Natalia peeks out and sees Horatio arrives with the rest of the guys, She goes back inside he's here!Rebecca omg! Awwwe!Rebecca sits down & waits now cuz she can't do anything else right now.It is really getting close to the time everybody is ready to go.The wedding director is lining everybody up & Rebecca will be the last to come down the aisle by herself.The wedding march starts as the girls one by one start going down the aisle.H looks at everyone & just smiles.Rebecca is close to the door& it is her turn & she walks at the door and is seen by everyone.She starts to walk down the aisle everybody is in awe.Horatio sees her coming down the aisle H think omg she is so beautiful.She is right next to him now.They take each others hand & the ceremony starts.

Chapter 41 (The wedding day part 2)

Horatio & Rebecca join hands & step up to the priest & the priest starts the usual ceremony.Noone objects so he continue.He says to Horatio do you Horatio Alger Caine do you take Rebecca as your lawful wedded wife to love,honor, cherish, unitil death do you part? Horatio says I do with all my heart. He repeats to Rebecca Marie Smith& she says I do too! The priests asks for the rings, Horatio is first he puts the ring on Rebecca finger & repeats after the priest.Then Rebecca does the same thing putting the ring on Horatio' finger too.The priest says the couple would also like to give their own wedding vows,they turn to each other & Horatio says Rebecca,I love you from the moment I laid eyes on you that I wanted you to be my wife.He looks into her eyes & says I will take care of you and protect you for the rest of my life Rebecca states I love you too from the moment you started protecting me.I want us to spend the rest of our lives together as long as we both shall liveThe priest says a prayer & say I now pronounce you husband wife you may now kiss your bride.Horatio & Rebecca turn to each other & they both kiss together.Here are the couple Mr.& Mrs. Horatio Caine.Everyone claps.They turn around and start to go back up the aisle as husband and wife. Horatio sqeezes Rebecca hand and whisper now you are my wife forever. Everybody is taking pictures and now the bridal party is in the back of the room and there is a short reception line. After that,they take pictures of the bride and groom and the wedding party. The reception is being held downstairs in the family room.They all line up and the dj announces Mr. & Mrs. Horatio Caine and then annouce the bridal party and they all take thir eat at the reception table.People are all coming & sitting down at the other tables.They get served the meal & drinks after that Eric gets up and proposes a toast & speech.

Chapter 42 (The wedding day part 3)

After Eric's speech to Horatio & Rebecca they toast to each other with Champagne and they turn to each other and sip it an kiss each other as everyone clinks their glasses. All the single ladies get together and Rebecca throws the boutque and Natalia gets it. Then Horatio goes& removes the garter belt from Rebecca's leg & the men get together. Horatio throws the garter belt & Eric receives it. Then Natalia and Eric get together & he puts the garter belt onto Natalia's leg.How funny!Then everybody else is dancing & the couple decide they want to leave & get their clothes & go to a Hotel.No one knows what hotel except Horatio even Rebecca doesn't know it. They say goodbye to everyone & thank them for their wonderful wedding together.Horatio grabs Rebecca they hold hands & leave to go home to get some clothes & go to the Hotel room for the night. Honeymoon will be shortly thereafter no one but Horatio knows it. They go to & get in the hummer and leave. Horatio lifts Rebecca into his arms and carries her into the hummer and then closes her door.He gets in and they turn to each other and kiss passionately. H says well now you are officiallly my wife and Rebecca say that he is officially her husband.They get to the house and get some clothes ready to pack for the night and early morning. They put their clothes in a suitcase Rebecca gets her toiletries plus her pretty night gown that he does not see.This is a gonna be a wonderful evening she thinks.They leave to go to the Hotel but Rebecca has no idea which one. They pull into a Marriott hotel very exquisite one at that. They take their stuff out and go on into the Hotel. Horatio goes to the desk and tell them reseverations for Mr.& Mrs.Horatio Caine. They look it up and show them where it is.They get to the door and Horatio carries Rebecca over the threshold and carries her and gently puts her on the bed.This is beautiful Horatio!I love it!

Chapter 43 (Wedding Night)

Horatio is at the office booking plane reservations to Paris,France his favorite place.He is trying for Monday to leave Miami.He pulls some strings & is able to get a flight out of Miami Int'l Airport for 10am.Arrving sometime later that day.He calls for a hotel in Paris, France as one of the best in France.Hotel Concorde has the best rate with a Queen size bed with all the eminites.He books the reservation& once they arrive in Paris, France they will check in first.This is going to be so awesome he thinks Rebecca will love it, we will stay there for 2 weeks.He gets all the info he needs with confirmation numbers & all for the plane trip and hotel.He finishes up some paperwork & signs off on some cases and leave the office to head home.He pulls in the driveway & meets Rebecca inside Rebecca says I'm so glad your here now.Do we still have our lunch date?Sure we do.He puts some stuff down in his room in his office so Rebecca doesn't see it. Are you ready to go to lunch?Rebecca says sure where are we going? H says it's a surprise!Ok sure you are full of surprises aren't you Horatio?He says yes & more than you know.They leave hand & hand & get in the hummer& head for a late lunch.Horatio pulls into a nice restaurant and they both get out and go in.They are seated in a secluded area of the restaurant so H can tell Rebecca his plans for tomorrow & for the next 2 weeksThey order their drinks & meal & H starts to inform Rebecca of his plans for a honeymoon.Horato says how soon can you pack your bags for 2 wks starting tonight?Rebecca say oh H sure I can pack in a hurry.Ok then we will be up early tomorrow around 7 to leave for the airport,our plane leaves at 10am.Where are we going? I can't tell you that its a surprise for you.Oh!Ok Rebecca says I'll just trust you like I always do.Horatio grins he thinks he can't wait to see the look on her face!They get their meal & start to eat.

Chapter 46

They eat & finish their meal & Rebecca asks Horatio how can you take off for 2 weeks like that for our honeymoon?Who will take over while you are gone?Not a problem, will leave Calleigh in charge and I already told her. Horatio says we are gonna have the best 2 week honeymoon of your life,one we both won't forget!Well let me go pay the bill so we can go home and pack and get to bed early.It is gonna be a busy and long day tomorrow.Horatio leans over the table and gives Rebecca a passionate kiss and she kisses him back too.Oh Rebecca I love you so much and she says I love you too very much!Spending the rest of my life with you is all I want Horatio. I know so am I.She gets a shower and gets dressed and puts on some nice clothes so she looks good for him.Well I think I am ready Horatio, he says ok, the SUV is packed and ready for our trip to the Miami Airport.They walk out together hand in hand and get in the SUV and leave for the airport.They get to the airport and check in their baggage and flight to Paris,France.She still doesn't realize where they are going yet.Horatio thinks this is gonna be so much when she realizes where they are going.They board the plane and find their seats. they are waiting to take off and on the loud speaker the pilot says we are ready to take off to Paris,France.OMG Horatio, we are going to Paris,France for our honeymoon.She reaches over and hugs him tight!He says yes, I've been waiting for you to figure it out. We are going to have the time of our lives for the next 2 weeks.Oh I'm so looking forward to it.Thank you so much, I love you Horatio! He says I love you too!This will be so worth it! The plane takes off and they are both in their seats and Rebecca lays her head on his shoulders and falls asleep during the entire flight.Horatio is so happy that Rebecca is happy, he lets her sleep until they land.Now they land in Paris,France and get off the plane and get their luggage and Horatio rents a car so they can travel all around Paris.

Chapter 48 (Honeymoon in France)

Horatio loads the car and opens the door so Rebecca can get in and then they travel to the Hotel Concorde in Paris.Rebecca says oh this is so beautiful,what a beautiful hotel.He gets out,takes their baggage and they go inside.He goes to the counter, I have reservations for 2 a honeymoon suite for Mr.&Mrs.Horatio Caine.The clerk looks it up oh yes Mr.Caine the honeymoon suite is all ready for you.He is given the room number and they go upstairs to the room.Oh what a beautiful room as the door is opened.Rebecca goes to walk in and Horatio stops her oh no,I am carrying you over the threshhold and carries her across and gently puts her down on the huge kingsize bed.Oh Horatio!You are too good for me, before you know it Rebecca says you won't be able to pick me up when the baby gets bigger.I know, but for now I can do it.They unpack their stuff and put it away since they will be here for 2 weeks.So what do we do now Horatio?Well, lets go find someplace to eat,because it is getting late and I know you are tired.I am but a good and happy tired she says.Ok well lets find something quick to eat is that okay with you?Sure is.They go to the car and drive around for awhile.Finally, they find a small diner that is open still.They go inside and the waiter sits them at a small table in the back.What can I get you to drink?Rebecca says I would like a iced tea please,Horatio say I would like an iced water please.Ok coming right up.They sit at the table just staring at each other and smiling at each other and are holding hands no words are said.You can tell they are so much in love and enjoying each others company.The drinks get there and Horatio orders a sandwich for both of them to split.Rebecca says I can't eat a whole sandwich I'm glad you ordered one to split with you.So they are waiting for it to come to the table.Rebecca says I have to go to the ladies room I will be right back.Horatio says is everything okay?Yes,I think so she says as she leaves the table.

Chapter 49

Rebecca goes into the ladies room and starts vomiting and getting really sick all over. She passes out on the floor, H calls her cell phone to see if she is okay, but he gets no answer. Now he starts to panic. He asks one of the female waiters to check on her in the bathroom. She comes out and tells him she is passed out on the floor. I'm calling 911 right now. Is she breathing? Don't know sir, he goes inside and she is passed out but she is breathing.The paramedics get there and take vital signs her blood pressure is 160/95 not good sir need to take her to the ER fast, just follow us okay. Horatio says ok and is extremely worried. He follows them to the er and gets out and they take her to one of the emergency rooms. She is still out cold and they are doing everything for her. The doctor says the next 24 hours is critical because now she is in a coma and they can't find out what is wrong. H is beside himself feeling helpless. He tries to talk to her but gets no response at all. He just stays with her til hopefully she will wake up soon. It gets to be morning and he still is there with her. H squeezes her hand and whispers to her to squeeze his hand if she can hear him talking to her. She squeezes his hand so tight so there is a response from her and she opens her eyes. She tries to talk but can't. It's okay H says, don't say anything right now. I'm still here with you. H calls in the nurse and tells her that she is awake and somewhat responsive. The nurse checks her out and she is out of the coma but because of everything she is on and on the respirator she can't talk. They go ahead and remove everything and she cries and starts to talk. What happened Horatio. I was in the bathroom and now I'm here. You passed out Rebecca in the bathroom.Its gonna be okay Rebecca. The doctors and nurses will help you get well again. How about the baby? she says. Baby is fine, so far no problems there. Horatio says you just need to rest right now.

Chapter 50

Horatio just sits there by Rebecca and is very worried about her. She is sleeping right now and he just watches her sleep but is very upset how could something like this happen whenwe are on our honeymoon in France. He walks out and tells the nurse he is going to get some coffee and call him if anything happens. The nurse says ok Lt.Caine, I sure will. He goes to the cafeteria and gets a cup of coffee and sits down.Hefeels he i to blame for this why couldn't he have done something sooner. He drinks his coffee but nothing to eat. Doesn't feel lik eating at this point until Rebecca gets better. He finishes his coffee and heads up back stairs to Rebecca's room.When he gets there she is awake. OH Horatio, I am so scared is everything gonna be all right with me and the baby? The baby is fine so far don't worry about it, you need to concentrate on getting your strength and rest back now. If you feel tired, please close your eyes and rest, it the best thing for you sweetheart. PLease rest do it for me and the baby okay? She says yes anything for you, I will do. She rests again and visiting hours are over and he will have to leave. Rebecca says to Horatio, do you have to leave? Yes, I do, they won't let me stay here with you overnight babe. Ok says I love you very much H and well I guess I will see you in the morning. They both hug each other tightly and kiss each other too. I've given them my cell phone incase anything goes wrong. YOu can call me anything on my cell i left yours here so you can call okay. I love you so much Rebecca, I will be here for you. He picks up and leave to go back to the hotel.

Chapter 51

Horatio goes back to the hotel and gets ready for bed,he orders some wine and something to eat.He tries to stay calm about all this but there is really nothing else he can do at this point until Rebecca starts to feel better.He is also worried about the baby through all this & hopes that everything will be fine.His cell phone rings & its the nurse at the hospital Lt.Caine she says you need to come here right away things don't look good He says thank you and races to the car and speeds to the hospital. What could possibly be wrong now? He has a worried look on his face.I just can't loose Rebecca not another woman again. He gets there just in time,Rebecca is not breathing & is back in a coma again with respirator & all that oxygen.He goes over to her but she doesn't move her eyes are closed He asks the nurse about the baby she says we are not sure we are gonna have to run tests again, but you can stay here in the room while she is gone. They take her out for the tests. Horatio puts his hands toward his head and starts to cry. He feels responsible for all this mess now. the nurse tells him it is no one's fault just something that just happens. He waits till she comes back which seems like forever. They finally wheel her back in the room but nothing has changed. The doctor asks to speak with Horatio outside. They both go outside and he explains whats happening with the baby and her. Doctor says Rebecca's body is rejecting the baby and now the baby is not breathing well & the baby's heart is not beating as it should.If things don't change within the next 24 hours, they are gonna have to take the baby.Baby is 5 months old so it will be touch and go for the next 48 hours.Horatio is besides himself doesn't know what to do but goes with the dr's decision if need be. If Rebecca should wake up with 48 hours the baby may have a chance but its a 50/50 chance.Horatio goes back inside. He stays with Rebecca for now.

Chapter 52

Horatio stays with Rebecca and tries to talk with her but no response from her. HOratio says to her I lost ne woman whom I loved dearly. I can't loose you too! Rebecca please you have to fight this. You have to fight to keep this baby it is ours I don't want you to loose the baby. He cries and holds her hand and squeezes it hoping for a response if you can hear me squeeze my hand really hard if you can. H sits there wth his head wn and then realizes she is squeezing his hand really hard. He looks up and sees her eyes opening up. OMG! Rebecca can you hear me? Please keep squeezing my hand. He rings the nurse call bell and a nurse comes in. Horatio she squeezed my hand several times and she opened her eyes what next? Nurse calls doctor and other nurses in but ask Horatioto step out for a moment. He does asked and watches through the glass window terrified. they work on her and take off the respirator and oxygen and sees that she is breathng on her own and doesn't need the respirator or oxygen.They fix he up and motions to Horatio to come back in. Doctor says she is gonna be okay, she needs alot of rest but we need to run tests and make sure the baby is ok, we will bring her right back. Horatio waits which seems like forever and they bring her back. The 5 month old baby is doing great no problem, the baby is very healthy. You can be wit hr now and assure her baby is fine. They leave and H talks to Rebecca are you okay Becca? Yes, I think so, how is the baby? The baby is fine now, you are fine it looks like things are looking up right now. OhHoratio I am soo sorry I caused you so much pain. No you didn't. Better things are coming. I love you, Rebecca! <3

Chapter 53

Horatio stays with Rebecca for a while and is starting to fall asleep. Horatio leans over and kisses her goodnight and tells her he will be back in the morning to visit when the doctor comes in to see her. Rebecca smiles and doses off to sleep. Horatio goes out and talks to the nurses to let him know when the dr will be back in to see her in the morning, they say ok and he gives them his cell phone number for now. He leaves and goes back to the hotel and lays on the bed and falls asleep. Rebecca wakes up in the morning and Horatio is there with the doctor, he goes over all the tests and says the baby is ok and is almost close to 6 mos.He doesn't see anything wrong and will release her as long as she gets a lot of rest because of the possibility of the baby may come earlier. Horatio & Rebecca are excited about it but dr.warns them there could be complications. Horatio assures the doctor that she will get all the rest she needs. Horatio signs all the papers and she is ok to go back to the hotel. Horatio takes her back and she says oh Horatio I love you so much I want this baby so badly, I will do what I have to do to get some rest and take it easy. Horatio says I love you too and I will make sure that you do get the rest you need.

Chapter 54

Horatio lets Rebecca lay on down on the bed so she can get some rest. Being away from home has been very hard on her but as long as she gets her rest everything will be fine Horatio ponders. Horatio whispers to Becca that he will be right back as he goes out to get some lunch for the two of them. Ok she says as she falls back to sleep. Horatio is not sure what to do as to whether to cut the honeymoon short so they can be in Miami if anything should happen to Becca and the baby. He doesn't want to lose either one of them that would kill him for sure. Horatio gets some sandwiches and drinks from the cafeteria at the Hotel and brings them back up to the room. Becca is still asleep yet. He goes over to the table and sets its up for them to eat. H just stands there staring at Rebecca in hopes this will all go away and everything will be fine but he knows that is not possible. The baby is 6 months old and they haven't found out what the sex of the baby that he is leaving it up to Becca. He walks over to her bed and she is fast asleep but doesn't want to wake her so he just sits on the bed watching her sleep. She stirs a little and opens up her eyes and sees H sitting next to her on the bed. She says:How long have I been asleep? H says for about 2 hours. Would you like something to eat like a sandwich and something to drink? Yes, she says I'm starving right about now. Horatio helps her up to go to the table to eat but she says I have to go pee she says, he takes her to the bathroom and leaves. Once done, H leads her back to the table where they both sit down and enjoy their sandwich and drinks. I need to talk to you Becca! What is it Horatio? I think it would be in both our interests if we leave for home right now so you can be in your own surroundings in case something should happen we'd be home with our doctor. Oh says Rebecca? Yes, says Horatio. We can come back another time once you get thru this pregnancy. What do you think?

Chapter 55

Becca tells Horatio that is probably best for all of us if we head back home, go ahead & make the arrangements sweetheart. I don't want anything to happen to me or the baby. Ok Horatio says I will go make some calls, be back in a bit ok. You still need to rest though, ok I will says Becca. Horatio leaves her alone and goes out the door. Rebecca lays down & watches some TV till Horatio gets back with some news. She starts packing up some of her stuff before Horatio returns they can leave as soon as possible for Miami. H returns & tells her to finish packing that they are leaving right now for the airport. H helps her with luggage making sure she doesn't lift anything. She is starting to get bigger, it's hard for her to do all this by herself. Once they are ready, they leave & go downstairs and check out and head for the airport. They get on the plane and are seated next to each other.Horatio takes her hand & squeezes it and says I love you so very much Becca, you mean the world to me and carrying our child. Becca rests on the airplane trip back to Miami and sleeps till they land in Miami Florida. Once they land at Miami airport Horatio wakes up Becca and tells her they are back in Miami. Rebecca says ok good as she wipes her eyes, she feels some pain in her belly but hopes its nothing. She hasn't told Horatio yet either that she is feeling some pain she has 2 1/2 months to go but she may go early. They get their stuff and head for home as Horatio helps her into the hummer. Oh oooh! says Rebecca. Horatio asks are you gonna be okay? Yes, its just the baby kicking i think its nothing. If your pain keeps up, I'm taking you to the ER. Okay says Becca! They head for home when Rebecca screams out in pain Oooohhhhhhh Horatio this is serious I'm in alot of pain take me to the ER please! Horatio turns around and head for Miami Dade General and goes as fast as he can. They reach the ER and take her back to a room & Alexx is there.

Chapter 56

Horatio and Becca are in a room waiting for Alexx to come in she comes in and says they are going to have a baby tonight as the baby is ready to come out. They are both excited as Alexx gets Becca ready for the birth and Horatio has to step out for a while. Alexx prepares Becca and gets her ready and they both are ready for this to be over they give Becca something to start the contractions so she can deliever the baby. Ouch ouch owie owiwwwwwe oh the baby is coming screams Becca. The baby comes very quickly and appears it is a girl. Horatio and Becca are very excited that it is a girl and they take the baby back to clean her up so they can see the baby in Becca's room. Horatio and Becca are excited this is her first child and loves the baby very much. Becca is tired and needs to rest so Horatio leaves her and goes and brings the baby back to the nursery to be cared for and leaves and will come back later to visit Becca. Becca is exhausted after a rough delivery so she sleeps until Horatio comes back tomorrow to visit her.

Chapter 57

Horatio comes back to visit Becca. She asks him what do you want to name the baby? He says its up to you what would you like? I don't pick something you like. Ok how about Katlin Renee Caine does that sound good to you. Oh yes says Horatio thats a cute name for a girl. He gives Becca a kiss and they bring the baby in from the nursery.Becca holds the baby named Katlin and they both share a kiss and the baby has streaks of red hair. She feeds the baby and then gives the baby back to the nurse so they can keep an eye on her in the nursery. Horatio gives Becca a big hug on a job well done on delivery of their baby.They both sit there and talk for a while and Becca is so appreciative that Horatio wants to be Katlin's father even though it is not actually his. He assures her he will treat the baby as his very own and it doesn't matter to him how the baby came about. He is just thankful that everything went so well with the delivery and that there were no problems. He has to leave to go back to work to catch up on all his paperwork and tells her he will be back here after he gets done with work. He wants her to rest since it was a rough delivery. So she lays there and falls asleep and he leaves to go to work. Becca has slept for quite awhile and they bring in Katlin to her for her feeding and Becca breast feeds the baby then gives the baby back to the nurse and the baby is full. Becca goes back to sleep for awhile until Horatio appears there after taking care of his paperwork from work. He brings the baby in to Becca as she holds her newborn daughter. Her and Horatio are so very happy with their baby daughter.

Chapter 58

Rebecca continues to do well since the birth of Katlin that they get ready to release her and the baby. She calls Horatio on his cell to let him know they are being released today. He says okay and gets ready to come back to the hospital to pick them up. Rebecca sits there with Katlin in her arms waiting for Horatio to get there and feeds Katlin as she breast feeds her. Awhile later Horatio gets there and signs release forms and such and they leave the hospital and back home. They reach home and Rebecca puts Katlin down for a nap and they both are so happy with the baby daughter as she sleeps. Horatio heads back to the office while Rebecca takes care of Katlin. Rebecca goes ahead and takes a nap while Katlin is sleeping so she can get some rest too. Rebecca and Katlin have slept for over 2 hours when Horatio arrives home.

After Eric Delko's best friend Tim Speedle was killed in the line-of-duty, Ryan Wolfe joined the day shift of Miami-Dade CSI. Ryan majored in Chemistry at Boston College, and his desire to work out of his comfort zone drove him to Miami to enter the field of law enforcement.

Ryan's need for perfection and his attention to details make him the best at what he does.

Personal style:

Thinks fast on his feet, intelligent, organized, great attention to detail, arrogant at times. As his character evolves and he begins to emulate Horatio, the most obvious sign is his clothing style-- he goes from T-shirts and jeans to sharp suits that are very similar to those that Horatio wears, spiffing it up with brightly-colored shirts and ties.

Personal demons:

Obsessive-compulsive tendencies have been mentioned, though it's never actually been confirmed that he is medically diagnosed with OCD. Ryan himself mentions in 303: Under the Influence that he is "a little OCD," but this is unvalidated, so it could be a joke on his part in reference to his neat habits.
Ryan faces some eye trouble after being shot by a nail gun in episode 408: Nailed. He develops problems with his eyesight, including squinting and pain, and is prescribed antibiotics by Alexx Woods. It is suggested in one episode, during a full-blown investigation to find a mole in the lab, that Wolfe may have had keratitis.
He has problems with gambling, as first noted in the episode 503: Death Pool 100 and then resurfacing in episode 522: Burned

Relationships:

He had a controversial, relationship with an ambitious reporter Erica Sikes. Though it was never completely confirmed, it is assumed that the two were dating.
He has taken Natalia Boa Vista on at least one date (Mexican Wrestling!)
Has a very volatile relationship with Eric Delko-- the two often clash, but also have their tender moments (example- 408: Nailed, scene in ER hallway after Wolfe is discharged).
Has something of a student/mentor relationship with Calleigh Duquesne.
Looks up to Horatio-- this is made obvious through the manner in which Ryan has evolved over his time on the show. (i.e. the way he dresses is most obvious, but more subtly in the way he handles cases).

Delko: And you sent him to the print lab instead, right?
Wolfe: Yeah, of course.

Wolfe: More like Plan W.

Cooper: Don't tell anyone this, but I think she's got a thing for H.

PATH OF EVIDENCE:	From the field: greeting card Starling left for Horatio with the words "they all fall down", and the cryptic symbols hidden between the words in invisible ink that they discovered said "Man Marks Earth Ruin" rigged rifle that had bullets filled with sand rigged rifle in parking garage fake bomb on pier wires that Melissa wore to catch Starling's confession From the morgue: tissue from Jesse's lung that indicated presence of Halon gas small shard of glass stuck in Jesse's head wound, from a camera he was working on before he died From the lab: letters Starling sent to the CSIs, proving he coordinated all three attacks on university employees from 8.24- "All Fall Down". They had droplets of ink on the surfaces of the pages that came specifically from Inkjet printers gun from the first murder at the beginning of "All Fall Down" Halon gas tanks fed into the lab's A/C system photographs of Starling and Melissa on the camera that Jesse was processing before he died
PERSONNEL ISSUES:	The lab mourns the loss of Jesse Cardoza. Those that seem to be hit hardest by his death are Walter, Natalia and Calleigh. Walter and Jesse were good friends that played basketball together, Natalia discovered Jesse's body and was distraught to realize he couldn't be revived (they had been shown as having romantic potential last season), and Calleigh knew Jesse from when she first started at the crime lab, as shown in the flashback scenes from 8.01- "Out of Time".

■ SHOW EPISODE BEST MOMENTS AND BIGGEST SHOCKERS

Beginning: When Horatio walks out of the elevator, he discovers Eric having breathing difficulties and Calleigh on the floor.

Before Theme Song: When Natalia finds Jesse, she bursts in tears. (there was an arranged date between Natalia and Jesse- see8.03- "Kill Clause")

■ FULL EPISODE SUMMARY

Picking up off the tail-end of the season eight finale, the lab is in chaos. Everyone is coughing, drooling and fainting all over the evidence as Horatio races back to the lab from Bob Starling's lecture hall to find out what Starling has done to his team. Once he saves the day by shooting out a window and letting oxygen into the lab, they set to work and discover that Halon gas has been fed straight into the air conditioning system. While Horatio managed to save the vast majority of his team and other colleagues, they suffer the tragic loss of CSI Jesse Cardoza (cause of death: cerebral hypoxia coupled with subdural hemorrhage from falling). The hunt begins for whoever was responsible for helping Starling to carry out his carefully made plans of destruction.
