Horatio Caine vs Jethro Leroy Gibbs?
Jan 30 2011, 11:21 PM EST | Post edited: Jan 30 2011, 11:22 PM EST
I mentioned this to the powers of CBS may never happen, but I felt it would be cool to make a good one
shot episode of CSI Miami and NCIS. Story of a Navy Officer and enlisted personnel conspiring with a
local drug lord contact at a night club in Miami brings Gibbs and Caine together. Horatio realizes the
Navy is suffering cut backs, and the cut backs forces the Navy Officer to solicit funding, along with some enlisted men, as a sting operation gone bad, forcing Gibbs and Caine to work together. Pooling NCIS and CSI Lab both teams meet and solve the crimes together. In truth of the episode to be, I hope,
the Navy Officer and crew were on shore leave, wrong place, wrong time, wrong night club, caught in the cross fire. Suspicions fly but the evidence proves the drug thugs panicked and opened up, thinking
the Navy was on to them!

Sorry, but it would be totally unbelievable as the US military NEVER suffers from a lack of funding.

Agreed. The military itself never suffers for loss of funding, but some of the service people get the short end of the stick. Whoever said that the government takes care of their own was full of it!

Listen, if you watch enough NCIS, how many Officers, and some
enlisted personnel have done 'shady' things, to get things done, or get a quick fix or a high rush. It's a back story, yet, also unbelievable to assume, anything 'wrong'. How many times has
Gibbs got the real truth, and those 'good' people cracked under
Gibbs? ;-) Listen, budget cuts, surplus equipment, poorly trained staff, corrupt Navy officers, chief petty officers and crew
members 'bent' or 'twisted' the rules to get the job done. I also
assume "Admirals" and "Political Officials" NEVER suffer from a
lack of funding, but the fleet does.

I agree with the agreement. Military in any branch never suffer ANY loss of funding, yet the Admirals, and 'brass' enjoy the
perks of the funding, but 'screw' the lower rank. I often wonder,
with 'short cuts' just look at "Operation Petticoat" with Cary
Grant, and Tony Curtis! The U.S.S. Sea Tiger, has a colorful log
book. Sinks a truck, steals from a depot, runs a crooked
gambling operation just to keep the sub from being scrap iron. ;)
Do the math! :) I wonder how the 'black market' began. Trade and
Barter with tax paid for equipment, or procured booze, and any
other 'forbidden' goods. ;) Just think something happens on
Horatio's watch at a Miami night club, and out of the loud thump
music, and confusing gyrations of the dance scene, some very
trigger happy drug lords think they are about to be busted on a
past crime, and start letting loose! Initially thinking its a bunch
of sailors and officers out for a good time, until Lt. Caine meets up with Gibbs to recreate the events and put together what really
did happen. ;)

I will have to try & watch some NICS so I know what you're chatting about!
The concept does seem interesting & the 'crossover' episodes within the franchise were very popular but the situation described above IMO seems like it could be a feature movie rather than a normal episode.

NCIS packs a lot of punch into an hour, HHF! So even though the scenario seems lengthy, they'd solve the case in an hour...or two if you wanna go crossover style between the two shows! LOL

But you should definitely give NCIS a try- it's my second favorite show (behind CSI:Miami of course)!

The main thing is, make this a VERY VERY special episode. A
two or three part episode? The CSI-Miami team and NCIS team
join forces. After of course the NCIS episode of when Gibb's dad
was 'moved' to a safe house, the 'drug lord twins' were played on
each other, and the sister paid the price. Now a rival drug lord
who took over the cartel Gibbs shut down, was setting up shop in Miami.. Fearing the Navy was on to them, and out of the loud
music, and misunderstanding, the 'new drug leaders' opened up
without proper information, assuming they were found out, a Navy Officer and enlisted crew was on 'shore leave' trying to find
a contact who can get parts or equipment for their ship, after a
paper work jam, and budget cuts 'stranded' the ship in Miami.
It's a snafu that cost the lives of a Navy Officer and enlisted. It
would take NCIS and CSI-Miami to solve this complex case of
mistaken identity, confusion, club scene dances, and snafu to
test both Horatio and Gibbs. To find out who and why this Officer
and enlisted men were gunned down, and what was motive of
going to 'this' night club? A classic who-dunnit and for why?
Was this just an innocent case of mistaken identity or did some
covert ops discover a new drug lord more ruthless and cunning
to send a message to the Navy and NCIS.... or was this Horatio's
old enemy out for revenge? (Hey, its an idea, a back story, and
cover stories to bring Gibbs with Caine!) I would say at least a
good two or three part episode. :) (:
